So let's get back to where I was before the server crash and data corruption issue (Cheers to Brother Argos for his tireless work on this awesome forum). I started this army last year during the Call of Chaos V and failed to finish because school and life and myriad other things got in the way. So now I've finally got the motivation back to finish this warband once and for all. Before I kick things off I would like to give a tip of the hat to Dan the Daemon and his spiritual successor DarkVen, they have been a source of constant motivation and inspiration in all things Night Lord.
 
 
I'll write some fluff up for the 15th later on, for now, here's some models.

You've got some good posing and kitbashing on these guys, but the stretched legs for the true scaling just looks off, number five in particular. If you thickened the thighs with some greenstuff or other putty, it might help alleviate the spider legs look.

Yeah possibly, problem is I'm not ripping them apart again lol. To each their own though, looks fine to me and it also comes off a little unusual when you can visibly see the extension, last time I painted these guys up it looked okay. I also like to envision Astartes as more cut and lean super-humans than massive bulky weight lifters.

Thanks KBA, I want to say it's 1mm or 2mm. I take two little squares and glue them together then shave them down.

One last post before bed gents, the wife isn't happy about me being up so late but I told her I was trying to get more in touch with my Night Lord roots... she isn't amused. 

 

Here's the only bit of paint I've done so far but it's my first attempt at painting OSL eyes, let me know what you all think:

I really really really love your poses and kit bashes, I never under stand why when people do a project with one of the founding traitor legions that they refuse to use pre heresy armour marks...? Confuses me.

Yeah I agree, though timelines may vary in the warp, I personally like to think that the HH was only a couple centuries ago for these guys (hence why they aren't gods of war compared to loyalists) so they've still got some left over or unmodified pieces of their old crusade kit.

 

Glad you like the OSL, I was pretty happy with the result.

Indeed! I think I have only a handful of the "original" poses on my new Alpha Legionnaires. My old Alpha Legionnaires that I did before I saw Dan the Daemon's thread have almost only standard poses though...someday I will go back and update them... :)

Yeah these guys have been through many incarnations, they actually started life as Iron Warriors a few years ago, funny enough Dan the Daemon was the one who inspired me to step my game up as well.

Are you using the Vampire Counts Grave Guard for your Cultists as well or just to raid the wings? There is lots of potential with mixing and matching Grave Guard with IG or the Cultist models (haven't bought them yet so I don't know what the set up is like).

I only buy the heads, I personally feel like cultists don't really fit the Night Lords mentality, I know there is support in the fluff for Night Lords using cultists, but as the saying goes, "Lions don't concern themselves with the opinions of sheep." It's a legion of predators who feed on weakness and fear. Cultists are the epitome of weakness and fear, I mean if the Word Bearers are constantly annoyed by them then I highly doubt the Night Lords would ever put up with them outside of hunting them throughout the ship. The only reason they don't murder their whole ship crew is because they are actually useful, whereas Astartes do the same job cultists do...only a thousand times better.
