I love the plasma a blaster dude. Loverly poses on all the models to be honest brother

Thanks man. I'm sure I've said it, but your thread is awesome!

Awww you even named his last name after me. I'm touched, brother. smile.png

Does that mean I get to write a story up for them?

Probably. ;) I've written one, but I'd love to see your hand at it as well.

Progress looks good, vazzy! I like the look of the First Hammer of Talassar, and Barrus looks great. Looking forward to more of your 129th!

Thanks mate! I've been sitting on the 'temptor for ages. I really, really need to order arms. You're part of Noctus' squad for the record so if you want to contribute fluff, go ahead.

I was thinking that Arsenios would be of a logical, mathematical and intellectually curious mind, with his every shot calculated to perfection, even if he did show a lack of humour and a lack of understanding of some of the jests of his comrades. This may have led to some of his Brothers joking that he was implanted with the gene seed of the IVth Legion by mistake; following the Revelation of the IVth's betrayal, these thoughts were silenced, but that didn't stop him from trying to prove himself to those who he believes still question his honour.

Just something pretty basic, but it gives you an idea of where I'm going with him. Any info on engagements these gents will be involved in?

I like it it seems very appropriate. Basically, these guys are fighting the Underworld War. Getting to grips with the enemy and taking the fight to them. I'm building them with the tactical strike rules in mind, much like my Sons of Horus and Emperor's Children.

"Amongst the 129th, the use of physical squad markers has become rather common place, especially among the first century. Originally put into use during the Siege of Danberra, the markings have become an integral part of the company's history, as each squads markings represent a battle or event significant to the squad. For example, Tactical Squad Claudius is an 18 man unit, divided into three subsets of 6 men. The Squad uses a checkerboard pattern in remembrance of their losses to the Harlequin troop of Garta'yame. The individual sections have different colors representing which squad is which. Red represents the First(Primus) section, composed of the more experienced Battle brothers and Sergeant Claudius, Green represents the Second(Secundus) section, composed of a mix of veterans and new members rotated up from the auxiliary. They are led by Secton leader Oenemaus, a noted Nubian veteran of over two centuries. Finally, the Third(Tertius) section is led by Vexillarius Apollo Diomekes, a native of Ithaka. A renowned warrior, Diomekes was poached from Captain Damocles by Tauros(First Hammer) after Galius(See After Action Report GAL//23//TALL//DAMOCLES). They are comprised of almost all rookies and are used in support of the Primus and Secundus sections. These "archaic" markings are sneered at by some mebers of the legion but would serve the 129th well during the Electromagnetic interference at Calth."

"Attached to the 129th two years before Calth, the Remembrancer Sara Paybee butted heads with Captain Fidelitas the very first time they met. Arriving at the Alustin system in the midst of the Hammers war there, Paybee and her crew dropped to the surface, seeking permission to join the fleet. They managed to fight their way through waves of Orkoid forms to reach Captain Fidelitas right as he slew Warboss Ur'lokk Gobsmaha in one on one combat. The photograph taken as Fidelitas stood over the monster in Salute now hangs over the Strategium of the Libertas Reginam out of respect for her work. Paybee was reprimanded, but was allowed to be embedded with Ancient Tauros, who ensured she came to little harm, even during the Calth Atrocity. Paybee would accompany the Hammers of Tallassar across the galaxy and was monumental in the writing of their history."

"Show me what stands for Courage among your Misbegotten kind!"

First Hammer Decimus Tauros, to the Avatar of the Ga'tar.*

Sara entered the the massive chamber with trepidation, it's ominous silence filling the void. The chamber was adorned with stained glass windows depicting an Ultramarine in artificed Praetor plate dueling a flaming Abomination, hammer radiating light and surrounded by Eldar warrior caste bodies. As she approached the window she noted the inscription at the bottom: "The First hammer engages the Avatar of Khaine". As she studied the work of art, she wondered my Captain Fidelitas had sent her here. "Look to the First Hammer" he'd said on the bridge, "We will see what he has to say..." So Sara had traveled to the bowels of ship, and gained permission to speak to the First Hammer, who apparently was nowhere to be found. She looked at the image again, and snapped a pic. An engage roar and clunking sound startled her, and she dropped the camera.

I. ALWAYS. HATED. THAT. PICTURE. IT.IMPLIES. I.HAD.A CHOICE. IF. I.HAD.MY WAY>I'D HAVE.KILLED IT.FROM. ORBIT.

Sara backed against the glass, hand splayed against it.

CAREFUL. YOU'LL SMUDGE IT.

She pulled her hand away as if it was a hot skillet. Sara peered at the hulking Dreadnaught, taking in the intricate shield and filigree decorating the Warmachine. "I...I take it you are Venerable Tauros?"

AYE. FIRST HAMMER. TERRAN BORN.LIKE YOU MS. PAYBEE.

She composed herself, and extended a hand unconsciously, "Sara Paybee, my lord. I was sent to speak to you." She was answered by the sound of gear grinding, and realized it was the way the entombed warrior laughed.  He gestured to her outstretched hand with his massive chainblade.

I.WOULD.SHAKE. BUT.YOU.WILL.NEED.THAT.HAND. FIDLEITAS. SENT YOU?

Sara nodded, "My crew and I found him on the battlefield, but we need his permission to join the Expedition fleet...he said only you could verify that we could stay."

WHY.US MS.PAYBEE? WHY. THE THIRTEENTH.

She swallowed, not prepared to be interrogated by the ancient warrior. "The thirteenth seemed a solid choice Sire. Your company's combat record is flawless, and I was led to believe that you allowed embedded reporters to participate in combat drops alongside the Astartes. I served with the XVII, for about 5 years, and can have Captain Ristin send you a full doc of my time there. I've seen Legion Combat sire. I know what I am getting into. Hell, we even have a modified orbital insertion platform that allows us to drop alongside you."

Tauros made the gear grinding noise again, apparently amused at her attempt to sway him. He crouched on one knee, his helm staring at her. YOU.CLAIM.TO.KNOW LEGION WARFARE.YOUR HISTORY SHOWS THIS.BUT.YOU.WILL.NOT.DEPLOY ALONGSIDE.THE MARINES.

Sara sagged, disappointment etched across her pale features. "Lord I-"

YOU.WILL.DEPLOY.ALONGSIDE.ME AND MY BROTHERS. DEAD REMEMBRANCERS REFLECT POORLY.AND I WILL NOT HAVE OUR HISTORY.TARNISHED.BY A DEAD.FOOL. COME. WE JOIN THE WAR. The machine made the grinding noise again. IT. IS HIGH TIME.I SHOWED THAT BOY HOW. WAR IS TRULY WAGED.

EMBARKATION DECK B//234

The murmur of pre drop chatter slowly came to a halt as Tauros and Sara's crew stepped onto the deck. Every Marine snapped to salute, hand over their hearts. AT. EASE. BROTHERS. NOW. I'VE SEEMED TO. TAKEN IN A FEW STRAYS. LET US>SHOW THEM. HOW THE SONS.OF TALLASSAR.GO TO WAR.

The assembled squads quickly clambered into the waiting gunships, teleportation pads, or Droppods, and the wordless tune began to ring out over the hanger. Over the Vox, she heard the booming voice of Tauros ring out.

THE.KING.AND HIS.MEN.STOLE THE QUEEN. FROM HER BED. AND BOUND  HER IN>HER BONES. She heard Captain FIdelitas, and Konnere's thick accent join in.

"The sea be ours, by the power, where will we go?"

As she continued to listen, (and to be frank, record) the entire Company joined in, a variety of accents forming a melodic sound that was unlike anything Sara had heard.

"Yo, HO. Haul together!"

"Hoist the Colours High!"

"Heave, HO, Ultramarines!"

"Never shall we die!"

"Ancient Tauros, I did not realize that the Tallassarian culture was so engrained in the company. This is standard then?"

"AYE. HOLD TIGHT MORTAL. WE DEPLOY."

A terran veteran born on the East coast of Merica, Decimus Tauros was one of the first recruits into the thirteenth legion, and would eventually be assigned to lead the Ultramarines 129th company. During the legion reunification with their Primarch, the 129th, heavily damaged after an encounter with the Hrud would take on over 500 Talassarian recruits, the boys bringing their seafaring culture and habits to the company. Eventually, Tauros himself journeyed to the Ocean world and traveled amongst the whaling crews, and noble born ships aiding in the removal of pirates. It would be here he would receive his nickname, "Bull", after his unnaturally large shoulders, even for an Astartes. Upon his return, the Company adopted the name the "Hammers of Talassar" and the mix of Terran and Tallassarian cultures would blend into something unique to the company alone. As the Great Crusade waged on, the Hammers would become one of the renown sige companies in the Legiones Astartes, and could often be found in the thick of the fighting, led by Tauros. The First Hammer would fall against the Avatar of a Bloody handed God, driving the flaming creature back with his hammer, turning the tide and allowing Captain Fidelitas to rally the troops. Deemed to valuable to allow to die, Tauros was enshrined in the Contemptor chassis he is seen with here, His nickname and hammers decorating his body. He wields an inferno cannon, a potent flame weapon equivalent to a multi melta, and a siege claw, adapted from a normal Dreadnought frame. It is believed that Tauros still serves in the Shattered Sons, over 10,000 years later. His interviews and opinion recorded by his Remembrancer Sara Paybee are required reading for all Sons Neophytes.

*delighted, subdued screaming*

I adore that song so much, and the fact that it's a central part of your Company just makes this that little bit more awesome! :D

Tauros looks incredible, but he'd look much better with a lick of paint on him ;)

Alright, Ancient Tauros is done, as is the Baneblade.Expect them tonight. Right now I'm putting up WIP on the Captain who relaces Sawn after his untimely end. This was my first attempt to sculpt a cloak. It's not great, but I tried....

I think if you paint it as something thicker than a cloth cape, like maybe as fur, it will look a lot better. It just looks too thick and heavy to be cloth. I know, fur tends to be seen as reserved solely for the barbarian Legions, but it would be thematically appropriate for an Ultramarine and might come out quite nicely.

Well, the forum ate my big post so picture only now that that happened grrrr.....

That's correct folks, this is Wolf_Packs secret Santa mini. It was stupid fun to do, and now I'm sorely tempted to do more. Sorely tempted. As in a Shadow Crusade force is likely in full effect now...

Is Danberra a reference to anything specific?

"Information is Victory."

-Roboute Guilliman

"Artillery is the God of war..."

-Famed Leader Josef Stalen circa M.2

"Fireking, this is Bandit, eyes on two Spartan Assault tanks plus 30 dismounted infantry in the open, requesting fire support."

"Roger that Bandit."

Master of Signals Gaius quickly pulled up Sergeant Antillus' location, plotting the optimal fire solution to deal with the encroaching enemy.  Around him, the snap of Auxilia las fire, and the deeper roar of bolters sang out. Calth burned, and the 129th was embroiled in the defense of the foothills around the Delras Arcology. His long range vox had picked up the warning sent by Pontificate Glaber, allowing for the 129th to dig in and fortify. As part of the 3rd cohorts advance elements, Gaisu and Longinius's Devastators were deployed in the ruin used as spotters for the advancing terminators, as well as providing anti armor support. The snap-boom of the las cannons was a steady percussion as he radioed the medusa battery on the hill behind him.

"Gorgon, this is Fireking. Requesting artillery strike on grid G9B56, over."

A stray round cracked near his head, but Gaius stayed focused on the readout in front of him, noting the collapse of Auxilia in grid Delta four. He hurriedly ordered Lord Fidelitas into the gap, the Captain's land raider roaring into the gap.

"Fireking, this is Gorgon. Confirm Grid G9B56."

"Confirmed.  Gorgon, lets do 5 rounds, DPIMC. Fire on my mark,Over."

He switched back to Bandit, waiting for the greenlight from Gorgon."

"Bandit, warning, warning. Danger Close inbound, in 3, 2,1,. Firing now. "

Te ground shook as artillery rocked the burning city, plumes of dirt and body parts visible from the observation post. Gaius smiled.

"Fireking, this is Bandit, One spartan dead in the water, the other is pulling back. 20 estimated casualties, we're moving in to mop up. Letting you know civilian vehicles heading up your way recommend Glaber moves into to support."

"Roger Bandit, best of Luck. Courage and Honor!"

"Courage and Honor!"

"Master of the 129th big guns and Orbital strikes, Centurion Gaius Fredorick was one of the vanguard members in Delras, his artillery batteries covered the retreat of hundreds of Civilians and military personnel, twice pushing back Word Bearer counter attacks. Amusingly, Fredorick was a notoriously poor shot, especially by legion standards, in fact, Captain Fidelitas often joked, "Give Gaius artillery and he is a God,  but give him a bolter and one should run for cover."

"Pictured here is one of the many Forward observation posts set up by the 129th during her many campaigns. Used by Centurions to coordinate the multiple resources under their command, they are quick to set up, and even quicker to disable."
