*sigh* and now, every time I look at some of my freshly made Chaos marines, in attempts to churn them out for you, I shake my head and rip them back apart because I know I cannot leave them so plain and unconverted...

Damn you...

Exactly! I haven't built a new Troop for my army since I started to really look at some of the amazing WIP p'logs that are out there. Now I won't be able to go back to building them with the same attitude ever gain. Work like this is nothing but inspiring; so much awesome is possible, and these little works of art deserve the effort.

And the Nurgling, please tell me you're going to do more, many many more. It has so much character, I'd love to see a swarm of them all clambering for a hug.

Only Fitting, as I can no longer feel Confident Slapping together a simple rhino Kit after gawking at Plogs such as yours..

...No doubt my next vehicle kit  will come in tow with a mandatory Pile of Plasticard sheets, and a Migraine to follow..

As for the Nurglings.. Ive considered slapping together a few more. A little smaller than the last, to be used as base clutter.. Those little touches of Whimsy offer me Much needed breaks between sculpting finer details..

Since its Good Practice for sculpting Faces in general, without the frustration of trying to sculpt a perfect face as a tutorial for the Masses..

Heres another TINY smiling Nurgling Face =P

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/DSC02056_zps53e261f3.jpg

^ Ill be sculpting this Flat, Like I do a Number of bits.. We will be sculpting everything Forward of the ears slapping on the back of the skull after its had time to cure..

The round blob of Greenstuff has the ever so slightest peak where the nose will be..

Ill be using my hobby knife, a size Zero extra-firm Angel chisel Clay shaper(by Royal Sovereign), and a 0.3mm Mechanical pencil with the lead removed..

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/DSC02060_zps11f89e33.jpg

^ Using the Pencil Ill punch in the Eyes ((if you mess up or just dont like what youve done at ANY time, DOnt Save it! Mash it, and start over..))

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/DSC02062_zpsdcd49302.jpg

^ Then I use the tip of the clay-shaper to pop up what will be the Nose..

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/DSC02064_zps8bc5e0e5.jpg

^ My clean hobby knife cuts in the mouth

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/DSC02072_zps9b717bc0.jpg

^ & Lastly I Turn back to my Clay-shaper working the face, giving it a touch of character..

This is pretty much How I sculpt All my faces(like the screaming ones in my Noise Marine Thread).. After it has cured I can go back in and add finer details. Brow, cheeks, eyelids.. etc, etc...

*For Human sized Eyes use either a  0.5mm-0.7mm Mechanical pencil*

I bought that box not too long ago and had the same idea, but I'm not much a fan of Ears of Khorne.

Hehe. I love to hate the Bunny ears As Well, but When I do my Block Berserkers They will Have them all the same.

Wow, bad ass! I haven't a problem with the idea of the bunny ears, I just don't care for the stock models' version. That guy, on the other hand...

I dunno actually. The 'ears' look great, but the head seems like something of a poor fit- wide and flat and angular.

Just finished Betrayer a few weeks back myself. So cool. wub.png

Yeah Great book..

Bah!.. Top of the helm isn't symmetrical.. Just looked at it again and had to tear one of the ears off and re-align it.. Ill have to resculpt the top of that helm.. May add a thicker chin as well..

Thank You!

I'm much more amused by the Nurgling using a discarded space marines helmet (or more likely head) as a latrine biggrin.png

Sculpting that fly is just showing off tongue.png

My wife's first reaction at Seeing me struggle at tacking wings on the tiny blobs walked over and Stated, " Nope! those Way too Big... You could sculpt beaks on them and turn them into humming birds, maybe..." she Chuckled and left the room as I cursed at her..

Well, the sculptors for both FW and GW do have to work with the restriction of needing to sculpt the models with mass production in mind, so there's a lot of things they can't do that we can. In that way, one-off conversions or even full sculptures can be drastically better than the stuff that comes out of a mold.

Wow! Those are awesome! Personnal favourite is the cloaked plague marines - if you ever feel like making a tutorial on how to sculpt cloth and the like, please do teehee.gif

But seriously: sculpting flies? Really? On 28mm scale? c-r-a-z-y..... but cool!

Keep up the good work!

Don't be put off by the scale of your flies, they're perfect. In fact, I spend a few weeks at northern cottage most summers, and lived in the middle of nowhere for years; I can assure you that Black and Horse flies get to scary sizes out in the boondocks and backwoods. Heck, even the mosquitos were intimidating. I'm sure flies gorging on the gifts of Grandfather Nurgle would grow nice and big.

And I would humbly request you continue doing those step-by-step mini-tutorials on your sculpting. I'm trying to improve my sculpting skills, but I get hung up on process. I'm sure some of the things I want to do are quite straight forward (like the face!) but I struggle with devising how to do the steps. Once I see some straight forward guidance like that, it clicks for me. I understand it adds a layer of effort to doing a sculpt, I thank you for taking the time when you can.

I say on par because I think FW are the epitome of models so from me it's a major flipping compliment.

I understood, and I still plan to Aim Higher yes.gif For people who dont know me, these models hardly show what I can do with Greenstuff..

These are OLD.. But if anyone wants to take a look.. Heres A few of my Fantasy sculpts on warseer

That Cape was so simple and lazy.. I just rolled out a sheet of GS and laid it over a few pieces of plastic rod to get the flowing curves I wanted and left it alone for a day to cure... Then I just cut it up and tacked it on.. Ya! billowing cape =P

Ive done my share of capes.. but the little Death Company cape always gets the most attention...

I will try.. I really feel That im horrible at making tutorials, so I shy away from them.. Plus Ive made So many tools to make So many simple objects its almost second nature to just slap things together anymore..

Ive pretty much finished 4 marines((3 still to go))

What you did in that little face tutorial was more than enough to help me immensely. I understand only to well, just with plastic; I slap bits together and think afterward, "Should have taken a few photos, people might have wanted to see that." I also understand the extra labour; even a simple captioned tutorial can take some thought and work. I'd just love to see a few beginning, middle, end shots of things like those great cloaks. I get it in theory, but you seem to have a great practical grasp and I'd like to see more. Great work!
