Sorry to go off topic a little, but this is the same comic as Brother Heinrich's avatar, no? Is this perhaps a comic version of Type O Negative's Peter Steele, who unfortunately died a couple of years ago and made me feel old (per the saying: "you start feeling old when your high school idols start dying")?

Nope, it's Nathan Explosion the lead singer of the fictitious death metal band Dethklok on the show Metalocalypse which ran about 4 seasons before culminating in a 1 hour death metal opera called the Doomstar Requiem.  The entire thing is satirical comedy of the metal and death metal genre and how seriously bands tend to take themselves.  The music from it is actually surprisingly good.

Helterskelter, does the sicaran come with the pintle mounted heavy bolter, or is that only in the sicaran venator kit?  Regardless, I am extremely excited about seeing it built and painted!

Aha well, that explains it. I am very positive that this guy is then based on Peter Steele, cause the similarity (including the facial expressions) is uncanny. Cheers, I'll look into the Metalocalypse series.

The HB pintle mout in only on the venator, but man, Helterskelter, am I looking forward to seeing it painted. Keep us posted and let us know how the built is. i heard it is fairly easy but doesn't fit too well and needs some warping here and there.

So far, I've had to take a hobby saw to the main tracks to get it off a huge chunk of injection sprue. There has been swearing. Some bits of the kit have been a smidge weak structurally and broken, just edges though and repairable :) also going to magnetise the sponsons, and hull HB, and purchase the tank crew set (it would be rude not too!)

We will put the boot to the enemies of the Night. Medium style ;)

@Augustus b'Raass - There are 'rumors' of the bases for each member of the cartoon, and Peter Steele is the guess most fans have for Nathan Explosion. Loved that band (Type O Negative, and Dethklok for that matter), well I still do... If you're a metal fan, you should take the time to watch some, it's hilarious!! And has some great guest voices from the metal community. Lemmy and Corpsegrinder to name a couple!!

I am walking away from this thread knowing more about human blood than I ever cared too!! I'm thinking it's a good thing!! The Praetor and the Apothecary are looking great helterskelter!! And I know I'm not alone when I say that I am really excited to see that tank!!

End of Line

But seriously now, heres some in progress building work, and let me tell you I have had "fun" trying to get this to sit flat. This is my first shot at a big resin kit and I am loving the challenge. Turret is dry fitted for show. I love this tank.

Dude it is a sick tank and you've pulled building it off. Nice work. I like the idea of the magnetized turret. Where do you get your magnets? Dunno where you're from but if you're in Europe then http://www.supermagnete.de/eng/ is a good site. You should buy the tank crew as they look awesome and you should make more pics of your WIP because I think your project is awesome.

Cheers dude, greatly appreciated! I'm still looking for where to buy my magnets from, so I will check out that site (am in uk).

As far as photos, I have reclaimed my smart camera from the parents, which will enable me to take more and more detailed photos.

Have finished the turret build bar the magnets and tank crew now, so will get the advanced photos up asap

I usually get my magnets from a source on the well known auction site.  I'll send you a pm and you can check it out.

As for the Sicaran, great work - I'm in the middle of building my second, such a pain to build :)  I made a really weird way of magnetising my first lot of sponsons, but I'll do a different job on the second I think.

The great thing about the model is - once you have the main body section together with tracks, yer most of the way there.

ebay has good sellers for magnets, but be carfull as you want the strongest ones. In magnets, size is not all that matters. It's also the N number. Try to get at least N42. The supermagnete site has them all, in all sizes and their customer service is really, really good. They ship super fast AND (and this is the winner for me) they send a small bag of Gummybärchen with every order. Zees Germans are of ze good sorts, I say. ;-)

As you well know, us Night Lords are a cuddly bunch, we cannot go anywhere without people screaming like they are at a kiss concert, and we like our vehicles to show that side of ourselves. While I await magnets, and Tank commander Ezekyle Notreve, highborn of Nostramo (I have some fluff for him I hope I can pull off), I present another shot of the "Shattered Dreams"

firstly cheers brothers, I think I've had the idea for the chainsword dozer/marine muncher as long as I started eyeing up the tank!

And mr b'Raass, ask and thee shall receive! Perspective shot using my housemates razorback and my wip apothecary no. 2

So tonights foray into painting lead to the cloak of Vikan Prixus, each face, that of a coward who would rather run than face him, their screams forever stitched to his cloak. And a convenient way of getting a legion symbol onto catraphrachtii plate. More faces will be added as I cull cowards/make them of course

@infyrana. Found the magnets, however a series of large bills is preventing me from ordering all the bits im after at once (I don't like shopping in dribs and drabs, I think I'm a bit odd like that). Should hopefully have all the faces on the cloak by the end of the week, so hopefully a weekend update heading your way

@deathspectre. Cheers brother, hope it looks half decent when done

And here it is fully fleshed! I was thinking of letting members "adopt a face" like you do with stars/moon craters/polar bears etc, but I don't think that many people read this thread :p anywho, undercoated for veiwing purposes only, got the odd gap to fill, then the pallid cloak shall receive its paint job

http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz184/Lamenterkyle/Mobile%20Uploads/20140322_160641_zps8268fe41.jpg

Haha awesome plan! I like the cloak and am totally adopting the fifth face from the left on the lowest row!!!

One thing though: the face look a little too "glued on", if you get my drift. I thought about how to solve it, as you can go two ways with the desired effect: either it's a cloak with faces stuck on it, or it's a cloak made from stitched together faces. For the last effect, I thought you could try wetting some milliput (not green or grey stuff, as those both don't respond to water) and dabbing them in the recesses with an old thick brush. Then, with the same wet brush, try to remove the excess milliput and let the cloak dry.

That was indeed part of the plan sir, ah the joys of fellow Night Lords, similar minds and such :D though I was going to attempt it via the liquid greenstuff route I'll have a dabble with your milliput technique.

and my thanks to you also deathspectre
