Skrundles Chaos Kitbashes :- khorne daemon centaur

He looks good so far but I recommend Biohazard's suggestion. The hilt will look more natural and also be far more stable using the whole hand as a base rather than just the tiny section of the grip. Hope that makes some sense.

Hey guys started some kitbashes today, trying to cut down on clutter before I buy more stuff haha

Here's my headless sorcerer

He won't remain headless I just haven't decided on it yet. I'm wanting a flaming skull but have no idea where to find one haha

Termi lord, dunno what weapons to give him

Also unsure on the head choice

And possible termi sorcerer, very basic at the moment

Okay so I have a boring but necessary post, I've had a bit of a crisis. I have remembered my love for alpha legion. Especially with my pending heldrake conversion.

I am considering heading toward that direction and away from my khornate/crimson slaughter current scheme. It seems it's done less than a lot of legions

Here's my older stuff. It's dusty and I know I can do a lot better but here's an idea

and a colour comparison with the big guy.

Now I have two issues. Issue the first, I have a stack of conversions nearing completion that will need a paint scheme decision made soon I.e. these guys

Issue the second. I will be very tempted to recreate this guy

With some changes to fit alpha style.

Any advice or oppinions would be greatly appreciated. I am leaning towards going ahead with it just on the teetering edge of indecision haha.

My first suggestion would be to do a squad of chosen or two in Alpha Legion colors, to see if the scheme keeps your attention.

As for the warmachines, the dreadnought I can see in Alpha Legion colors, maybe remove/trim the horn on the nose to make the head look more reptilian. Or do another one with 2+ heads msn-wink.gif

That reminds me, has Octobrute been painted?

The scorpion thingy, does not look like something from the Alpha Legion to me.

Another Knight Grinder? censored.gif yeah!

Well, it probably won't surprise you that I won't support a move away from red and bronze as colours for your warband ;)

Seriously, though: In the end, you have to do what feels right to you, of course. That said, my gripe with the AL scheme is that I've always seen the Alpha Legion as a mostly uncorrupted (in a physical sense) and non mutated legion. One of the WD staff has this huge AL army that's made up of all those DV Chosen and daemon engines, and it just looks plain wrong to me. Your latest conversions also use a similar look, as do the daemon engines, and neither seems to be a good fit for the AL, if you ask me. Plus I love your red and bronze models so far.

But, again, go with what feels right for you: If you'd love to see your models in AL colours, there's no one stopping you. Red and bronze is still cooler, though ;)

Whatever you do, maybe you just need to paint something different right now, in order to get the fatigue out of your system.

I agree with Kraut, most of the time when I see Alpha Legion they're uncorrupted for the most part. That said if that's what you want to do then go for it. I suggest painting a lord/lieutenant first then a squad so if you still like it after that then you should be good.

Thanks for the input guys.

@quixus, the octobrute was another that's gone on hold pending the colour scheme, great suggestion on the double head/reptilian conversion.

One of my big concerns was how the spider would look in the al scheme. Who knows I may do another grinder for the sake of it. That bugger was a blast to convert.

@kraut, how did I have a sneaky suspicion that you would protest haha.

If the alpha legion is MEANT to look incorruptible then my models/ future plans just won't work. I entirely see where you're coming from there as I really like my daemon engine conversions.

@ tanith. Maybe I'll do that a couple chosen or something. I'd had to paint a big guy and regret it.

Thanks heaps guys you've given me a lot to ponder on

Whereas I'm Khornate too, I'd venture a hydra head for the Hellbrute, and perhaps a Dark Mechanicus vibe for the spider ? A wee squad of cybernetic cultists and techpriest or something to accompany it/tie it in with the rest ?

I agree with KS on the WD army (shown in 6th dex ?), but who's to say where your AL have been ? Those operating in Imperial space as pirates and insurgents would certainly be untouched for the most part, but there's nothing to say a few warbands within the Eye haven't been warped as they rile up mischief between other Chaos forces in a mirror fashion.

Hell, properly tainted and afflicted AL are possibly one of the untouched ideas around, and would certainly fit with the duality theme.....

Secrecy has always been the Alpha Legion's most potent weapon, so there probably won't be many infiltrators running around with tentacles. However, once the jig is up, I can very much see them bringing in daemon engines.

Secondly the AL has a reputation for using the right tool for the job, so again occasionally daemon engines would be appropriate.

Thirdly, before the Heresy the Alpha Legion was a fighting force of at least a couple of tens of thousands marines, who worked with little contact with each other and with a lot of freedom in the ways they accomplished their goals. So you might have one warband/cell that likes to impersonate Smurfs and get the imperial guard to (unwittingly) help them while another rarely has contact with the enemy and summons warp beasts and daemon engines onto the battlefield while a third uses shock and awe tactics with terminators and tanks.

So long story short go ahead paint them in blue and silver.

I had to paint a test model and I have to say I really like it I'm going to paint the identical chosen in the red and bronze for easier comparison but I must say the allure is tempting
