No coffee will stain that mug, he drinks only the finest tea! laugh.png Actually that's an idea, a little bit of Earthshade inside should make it look well used tongue.png

I'm intending to get them done as soon as possible, they've been waiting too long for plenty of reasons and I want clear decks before ETL III :D

Thanks Kier, I'm still not sure about what to do there so I'm going to come back to it later. There's no reason to be delaying for it and something might come to me when they're done :)

The Emperor has seen my plight and today is a wonderful one with a bright and clear sky - the model undercoats are currently drying before the second run biggrin.png

I managed to make good progress, getting almost all of the green done. I think that's the last of my undercoat (I did stretch it out to some DE too) and I could do with some new brushes so I'm planning a supply run as soon as an opportunity arises. This all shows it has been far too long since I painted something, I've plenty of half assembled projects too. It was great to be painting again, even if it was the boring bit :)

I did miss my music though, it feels weird to paint without it but I've not had the chance to put it back on my PC and my DVD drive has now died... at least it installed the important stuff before going to the Machine God :P Speaking of painting without music I'm planning to take some stuff into work for lunch breaks, I've just got to see what I can find that I can bring in :D

I managed to get some more painting done today, but I won't be able to take any pictures yet. I don't want to move them as they've just had an extensive wash to finish the green and they're currently drying in front of some xenos so would violate board policy if I posted pictures tongue.png

I don't think they'll be particularly exciting pictures but I promised so I'll see if I can post some up tomorrow evening smile.png I've spent a fair amount of time communing with my PC's machine spirit and things are improving, I'll have replacement bits sorted this coming week though that will knock my PC out of action for a few days sad.png

The most important thing is that I'm on the home stretch (hopefully?) so I'll be able to dedicate even more time to painting once the Omnissiah blesses me with a fixed computer. I can't help but notice that despite it being dark and raining right now the weather has been much improved the last few days - I've even got to go home in a bit of daylight! As we all know a nice sunny day makes for great painting biggrin.png

Once more I am here with shoddy pictures to fulfil a promise! You'll have to excuse the brevity (I know I know, from me of all people) but I'm currently dodging computer problems tongue.png Apart from that there's not much to say, this is the main progress point for my infantry as once the wash is done they're ready for the camouflage. Though that's pretty time consuming the remaining bits are quick to do so it doesn't take long to get to the basing stage biggrin.png

They don't look too bad, I mean it almost looks like I can keep within the lines...

All in due time, having the right motivation is key, at least that's what they say.

Looking forward to seeing this project move forward.

Appreciate it! :)

I'll have to do something similar, who knows when I'll be able to start that though.

Well I do the odd bit of prophet work part time, only recently I had a vision of a glorious crusade where we marched into the halls of heroes, flanked by all the sections of the B&C. Thousands of points of Guardsmen and mighty war machines passed by for what seemed like an eternity, towards the great stone steps. At the top of the steps was a Captain, who presented a golden laurel with the words "Ave centurion! Astra militarum invicta!".

No idea what it means, perhaps the mists of time will part in due course and present the answer?

Semper's Heroes were offered one, but they declined along with the rest of the regiment. Said that if the Emperor wanted them not to walk He'd have sent them Chimeras tongue.png

I'm thinking that the Taupox is just part of the Tempestus allies codex as it doesn't look very Guardy, but would fit the Scions theme much better (with some modification). The heraldic lion strongly suggests this so I'm thinking that it might not be an issue for us. Unless GW slaps it in our codex anyway which might be better as the alternative is the new Guard codex is actually just 3 (at most?) new kits with the Scions and friends tagging along taking up valuable Griffon and Rough Rider space confused.gif

Hello again, I'm back with an update! biggrin.png It's been a while but I've been nibbling away - sod's law in that I ran out of black today when I finally put aside a good amount of time! I'm sure I had a spare pot but I can't find it for love nor money at the moment, instead I focused on five of the troopers so excluding their bases (and the boots, which I do with the base) they're pretty much done smile.png

(Shoddy) group shot:

Last but certainly not least, a close up on Captain Semper himself!

I'm pleased with how Semper turned out (picture quality aside), I gave him a gory sword and some blood splatter to show how he gets stuck in. I put a bit of of gloss on the blood too to make it look fresher which came out ok. I'll see if I can find that Chaos Black by tomorrow, but if not there's still enough to keep me with busy on the other Guardsmen and my Regiments challenge sniper thumbsup.gif

Lovely! :)

Good choice of colors there - the red shoulder pad is a great contrast and the gore is tying the whole squad nicely. Very evocative!

I'm really proud of the Semper!

All Veterans have the honour of wearing the red should pad, there'll be a bit more explanation in my Regiments blurb when it comes :) I'm glad you like him, I'm sure he'll do you justice on the table top :D

When you're a Veteran you're already hard as nails, so you've got to be that much tougher to lead a squad of such warriors into battle tongue.png Maybe if the new codex is kind I can model him up as a Straken counts as for when that promotion comes through?

I'm going to undercoat my challenge model today and dig for that missing pot and continue with my painting. Hopefully I'll have some more progress to show before the end of the day smile.png

That bloody black didn't turn up... presumably eaten by the warp. It also looks like some of my other pots are expiring too plus my undercoat is its last legs too. I'll take a bit of time in the week to properly assess my supplies and then make a shopping raid - got to be prepared for the ETL too msn-wink.gif

I did get some work done on my challenge model:

Unfortunately the light was going but you can make out roughly what's going on. That is to say not much yet! I think the cloak gap GS turned out ok, and I've painted the inside of it Charadon Granite to make it a bit different. The cloak is Catachan Green like the gloves and pouches etc but I'm considering a camouflage scheme or two for it depending on how the model turns out. It won't be the same as the normal scheme though for a bit of variety.

Let me know if you have any ideas, time for me to work a bit more on the background and see if I can finish them off smile.png

  • 3 months later...

Thanks, I'm excited to finally get the time to work on them again. I was far too busy juggling computer problems and then the ETL arrived so that obviously came first but now I can finish the job biggrin.png I'll sort out touching up the Hydras this weekend and see if I can find some time to start on these guys too. I'm promised myself that after the Hydras have been done I'll not touch another model that isn't part of this vow until it is complete smile.png
