- The Sons of Sanguinius will come soon after Endtimes Book 2.

- GW will use this release slot to replace older Space Marine Plastic sprues.

- 4-5 week are realistic.

I think it was always a given that they would wait for the BA release to update the Assault Squad box (which should be cool), but could that also mean upgrading the current Scouts? While decent I think the current Scouts look pretty tired and could do with a reboot and better modelling potential/posing.

SW got their Long Fangs and Skyclaw boxes in the same release week if I remember correctly, so if they follow suit with Asst/Scouts in the same week I'd gladly take a 4 week BA release... but that is pure guesswork based on the few lines you posted. Here's hoping though.

Of the plastic infantry kits there's still:
Assault Squad
Combat Squad
Command Squad
Commander (multi-part)
Devastators

When they say redo what do we think that means? Replace the bolter marines in Dev and CS boxes with new Tac sprues and overhaul of ASM? Complete overhaul of them all?

While it would be nice to have some better Scouts, I don't think that they'll do anything with them.

It'd be cool if they re-did the Commander, BUT kept him multi-part. Can't see it though.

I wish they would do give a rule to the tactical squads for Blood Angels and a buff. In the fluff they are the best and most controllable guys outside of the vets.

The fluff has that a tactical sergeant will often take command if the commander/Captain kicks the bucket - so maybe, as long as the tactical sergeant (upgraded to vet sarge as point cost?) is alive and the Warlord dies, then your enemy cannot get Slay the Warlord as a victory point?

I think that would be really cool as a mechanic

This is true of all codex adhering chapters though, it is not anything special among the Blood Angels.  Besides, having better assault marines AND better tactical marines would just make the BA codex C:SM+1.

With the word going round of a new baal predator for BA, I can see us getting a new fast attack unit and having a very strong mech army to field as a result. Melta blast weapon, multimelta sponsons with scout USR...mmmmmm

That'd be the fourth iteration of the baal pred to datewacko.png

That almost sounds like a complaint. Almost. Which would be bad because I would be obliged to report you to a commissar nearby.

Do so. My chainsword has not bit into the flesh of the wicked in ages!

I reckon we'll probably be immune to some of the worst things the codex writers have done recently. I can't think of anything other than dread weapons and razorback turrets (same as all marines then ) that don't already have a model so there's nothing to be cut from that angle.  I know the Guard lost a couple of characters but they were largely ones who only had metal models iirc; again, not a problem we face as all ours made the transition to failcast.

They could randomly cut a unit, but I can't see what it would be. Perhaps the least optimal choices in the 'dex are Sanguinary Guard, Scouts or Bikes and while the latter two won't be going anywhere for historical reasons, SG are too new and likely sell too well to be scrapped (who hasn't bought a box or two just for bits? Even players with other marine flavours have done this judging by WIP and HOH threads).

The absolute worst I can see coming is Meph's access to wings being unreliable, frag-cannon taking a beating from the nerf-bat, ditto blood talons, no more Nipplewing outside of a sub-optimal formation, ditto DC, leaving elites overcrowded, not expanding Captains' wargear options, no more deep striking land raiders, no more useful heroic intervention on Vanguard Vets.

Following current trends, based on what people have said about their codices over the last few updates, we'll end up with slightly fewer options and feeling a bit blander, but we'll finally get that points drop.

Why would you be concerned? They've done great work on the other new codices and they've had a lot of practice with the other Chapters so it can only get better.

Codex DA

Codex Tyranids

Codex Orks

Codex GK

and now very likely Codex DEldar would be a reason for concern.

I would add C: Space Wolves to that list. You may like it, but they were my 1st army and I hate it. THAT is like C:SM +1/2

All astartes are having their wings of independence clipped. What makes each chapter different becomes some different units: thunderwolves, MurderFang, Furioso etc. NOT how it is structured: wolf guard splitting off, (errr, and the like) NOR how it fights: psychic phase, psychic tables, no mark of wulfren etc.

I am expecting BA will be the MOST annoyed at New dex. I know we've been neutered with recent FAQ and 7th ed, so we might feel a bit recouped after our new dex, but it will be very weak compared to last one.

there is a plus side; there will be a generally more level playing field, less Rock paper scissors of list writing, more tactical cunning needed for success on the board... Unless your have the cash to buy fw models and rules!!

The standing rumour is that all codicies are now written by a design team of 2-4 people led by Jervis Johnson. Sadly, my confidence in Johnson's Codex writing ability has wavered of late (he also wrote the PDF, but that's neither here nor there). Don't get me wrong, I'll still play the new book to the best of my ability and get the most out of it, I'm just a tad apprehensive about what we'll get.

However, my major concern is...

the community. If we get a bad book then I would hate to see this forum become as bitter as the Grey Knights' forum. The Iron Hands forum hasn't recovered from the Clan Rukaan debacle and the Chaos board has finally, after a year and a half or so, stopped openly complaining about their book...

The playing field is actually quite level right now. As long as you play some combination of C:SM, knights, eldar, necrons and maybe a bit of Tau. Or some wacky death star combination :D

So called 'Top tier' lists are actually more varied than ever! However, any codex or unit not on the same power level are extremely far behind on the curve and generally just gets stomped.

Not on my watch, Jol.

Not on my watch.

B&C BA forum will be a freakin' shining beacon of BA awesomeness, support, appreciation and development - irrespective of the consensus of the codex by the majority.

Its been like that since before the dark PDF days, and I'll ensure it stays that way.

The sheriff has spoken.

We survived the PDF.  BA for life.

I don't think the PDF 'dex was that bad... much better than the anemic 3rd ed codex with all those 'see codex space marines' entries.

We had the DC, we had our SCs and our lists didn't look exactly like other PA armies.

ok, that's true.  DC in particular were awesome back then.

It had issues, but the PDF was when I joined the BA.  I never played with the old 3rd edition codex.
