Hail brothers.... And sister Flint!!

Progress has been made on my version of our broken farther, but alas i have reached an impasse.

I had always envisioned lord Curze to not get hung up too much on bling more function over style ( function here being scaring the poop outa ppl) so with that in mind i had planned on painting his armour trim a dark iron (also helps with melting into the shadows). But the more i think about it im questioning if itll look too plain, more grunt then overlord. Id be interested on getting your opinions please fellow lords of the night

Ave Dominus Nox

Go have a mooch at my version in the WIP section i went with the iron/silver metal trims over gold. I think it looks ok.

Though i think we all agree elstonations hands need cutting off so we can clone them to transplant as necessary

just a quick question, has anyone used the Von Carstein Upgrade pack for their Night Lords? I fancy giving my Terminators magnetised options including a Standard and Storm shields.

Okay maybe they blend in better than I thought, lets dive back into his thread for another looky.

*edit* okay it works so well I didn't question where they came from.

I'm thinking I may revisit Zaqars shield using one and having the upper half of a flayed guardsman strapped to it for force unity.

The horns are literally the only thing I like about it.

Why wear a rebreather with no helm?

So you can look bane-esque while still decompressing in the void, catching toxin burns to the face and getting shot in the head?

Yes.

Just to chip in on the discussion regarding the head... I like it. A rebreather without the rest of the helmet is a bit stupid for sure but who have ever said that marines have to be smart?  Since I like my Night Lords without (too much) corruption I'm not so fond of the horns but they can work fine on the right model and on The Psycho's lord they are quite fitting. To do a shameless bit of self-promotion I've used it aswell on my warp-smith but as you can see I got rid of those horns...

I disagree (of course I do look at my lords setup!) the rebreather is stupid in the concept if it was chosen by choice over a helmet by the user (I imagine that most NL still have ceremonial helms or spares if they need to space walk etc). But is a rebreather not used to aid breathing when a helmet is damaged or lost? So for poorly supplied warbands its highly possible for a few NL to be running around with an incomplete set up.

Serious question. There are references for guys who have had the jaws replaced with rebreathers due to battlefield trauma. How do those guys wear helmets? Do they have half-helms that connect to the rebreather? Are the helmets big enough enough to accommodate a rebreather(which would raise a secondary question of just how safe is that helmet exactly)?

Seriously, these are the things I need to know.

Wow MrBear, that's an awesome looking warpsmith. Never thought of using those weird specialist officers as a chaos space marine HQ.

Hey Noctem, if you need one of those banners, I could send you one. I have four left here I've never and will never use. So if you want one drop me a PM>

Huh... you know I actually never really thought about it...

My knee jerk reaction would say "they have specialized helms that connect to the rebreather." Which I will say is only loosely (very very loosely) supported by the "evidence" that the rebreather grills of the CSM and Blood Angels unhelmed heads I am currently looking at, are similar visually to those of marines that have actual helms on.

I revise my previous statement.

I like just the horns or just the head and rebreather.

That's pretty darn good looking, Bear.

Thanks Flint, now we just have to convice you about all the other heads with rebreathers

Very interesting question... My guess is that there should be some kind of half-helmet for such situations but that they break more easily as they are not made as one piece. Tough luck for the poor bastards that have to use them...

Then we have the deranged types that just use a rebreather for some kind of aesthetic purpose or some other wierd reason. They only have themselves to blame though.

Thanks Augustus, the idea just popped into my head when those officers were released. The Devastator Captain seemed like a pretty easy conversion so I gave it a go. The others have some potential for conversions aswell but they probably need more work to look like proper Chaos Marines

Just my two pence while I am on the CoC finish run,,,

I always pictured that the Armour parts are kind of worked around the bionic replacements ...the Iron Hand art / models spring to mind...

For the record

a) going into any hazardous zone without head protection is pretty stupid

b) i had a really good laugh about the Khayon (sp?) fending of his attacker in the Prospero flashback because the SpaceWolf is not wearing a helmet in Talon of Horus

c) i have an unhealthy crush on rebreaters and have aimed to equip my SW Old Republic Chars with them and

b) always end up drawing Astartes bareheaded with rebreathers when pencil  doodling (mostly because I find it easier than drawing faces :whistling: )

So mark me down pro-rebreather

A.) The Iron Hands exposed bionics thing has bugged me a tad too. I understand that it looks really neat, but its essentially the same thing as the World Eaters doing away with armored sleevery. Are the Astartes durable enough to leave exposed bits of their anatomy to the elements?

Sure. But they're going to have just as many problems in an extreme hostile environ, whether void, toxic etc...

B.) One of my favorite lines A D-B has ever penned.

"Blessings on the sons of Russ who do not wear their helms to war."

**STAB!**

Honestly, I hate headgear. I hate hats, I hate sunglasses, heck, I hate earphones and earbuds. If it wasn't for the fact that I can count instances in which a helmet(funnily enough, the exact same helmet; which is a safety hazard on its own now) quite literally saved my life in two separate motorcycle crashes, I wouldn't wear one riding.
Well, I'm mostly responding to Xin. Yes, it'd be stupid to not wear a helmet into a hazardous situation. But I fully understand the reasoning behind it. Helmets are restrictive and Chaos Space Marines at their core are supposed to be soldiers who have decided to do whatever they want. So if one of them decides to not wear a helmet because he wants to feel the wind as it blows through his topknot/over his bald head, then by Khorne's stinky breathe he is not going to wear a helmet.

No disagreement here.

I wouldn't argue going into battle wearing a shroud or a cape (or a bunch of heads:) ), but here...ah,,,

We wear freaking bat ears ON OUR FREAKING HELMETS!

And I will wear a chain of skulls. PRETTY Please. Starting with those laughing about the bat ears ....

Who is going to tell anyone among the VIIIth to please put their little buckets on?

Just did my first night lords test model for my new project for this year. thoughts? I am pretty sure i have my scheme for the next one down pat, this was just a test but i am very happy with how it turned out, (one shoulder pad is missing as they are currently crossing the ocean from good ol' forge world) The next dude will also have a terror squad head. So here ya go!
