So, third or fourth time I have looked at these, and I finally notice a critique.
To me it seems strange that the glow is centered on a point in the middle of the swords where either the tip or a center line seems like it would be more likely.
Is there a reason behind that?

@The Hydra: Cheers buddy!

@VelÇona: thanks for commenting!

@Teetengee: Haha good question, and a very on point. There is a reason for this, and it's because I'm too lazy to use masking tape to mask the opposite edges of each side of the blades and doing the glowing effect in reverse! Perhaps you remember my Tzeentchian Sorcerer on Jetbike (Disc of Tzeentch) I painted for my fifth vow during last year's ETL? I wanted to do the abovementioned technique on his Force spear, but stopped because I quite liked the weird effect the glowing-in-the-middle effect gave off. So I just copied the simplified effect for the bloodletters. :wink:

Here's the very last unit in my very last ETL IV vow; the Screamers of Tzeentch. Nine of them!

And with that, my vow is complete!

Thanks for looking. I hope you like the screamers.

@Kurama: your wish is my command, buddy!

@Uveron: Copy away, pal! Your red wash over dark grey recipe sounds interesting. Lemme know when you've put them up :)

The black blood letters look just as cool as I knew they would!

Those screamers are super interesting. I can't decide exactly how to describe them... Juicy maybe? They look really livid and colorful, like delicious demonic candy.

Great job!

Thanks you two, for always commenting on my updates! It's awesome to have so many people encouraging me, and I can only hope I return the favor sufficiently. Also delicious daemonic candy. :biggrin.:

SO! 3436 points completed this ETL. I made a picture of all my completed units together, and am quite pleased by the result!

Hope you like, and once again, thank you all for commenting. :)

I keep saying it, but the volume of your output combined with the quality of painting and modelling defies belief. Truly, a pact must have been made with the ruinous powers and time function differently inside the Eye.

The Black Bloodletters and their blue swords are particularly well executed. Would love to see a whole army of them!

Haha thanks SWaT! Your post made me go "hmmm, I wonder how much I've painted since I started my Night Lords". All my models are kinda hidden away in a wooden cupboard, but it doesn't have space anymore since before the ETL. The above completions just stand on top of the cupboard now.

So I decided to make a pic of my entire army and calculate how many points it is on my BattleScribe accout. And it's kinda embarrassing and baffling. My painted chaos army now stands at 14235 points. Which is even crazier when you consider that I started it in March 2013. I blame my airbrush...

@Aasfresser: Me too.

@ShVagYer: To be fair, almost 7k was painted during ETLs III and IV, so my medial speed is less productive than during the last couple of months. Also, Daemons are super easy to paint with an airbrush and washes, so I feel like I cheated. :)

@kizzdougs: Yeah, I kinda wonder how I hold a job, and maintain a romantic relationship and have a social life...

@Kurama: No way man. I can already use my Night Lords as 30K. I'm starting an Imperial Fists 30k/40k army.

ANYWAY!

With the ETL over, I can finally sit down and reward myself with some actual converting. The ETL had me paint mostly pre-assembled and -converted tanks and daemons, the last of which are hardly converting material. At least not the kind I'm into. So I really missed sitting down and saw, bash, cut, and glue away at a Space Marine character...

About three or four years ago, I bought the Corpse Cart, thinking I could use it for Nurgle somehow. I planned on using the corpses on some kind of Nurgle vehicle, but never got around to it. Then, during this ETL, inspiration struck: I could use the cart itself as a Palanquin of Nurgle! This is the result of the last couple of hours. What do you think?

Feedback very welcome. Also on the stupid camerawork I cannot seem to get into proper focus. Anyone?

Cheers and thanks for looking.

I like it! But the Lord/Sorcerer looks like he could use some more bling.

Thanks Aasfresser. I agree with you - the Lord should be something 'special'. So I made some changes:

  • added an Icon of Nurgle to his backpack;
  • gave him a chain loincloth;
  • gave him a chain around his belt, plus a Blight Grenade hanging from it; and
  • put a Death Guard symbol made from the CSM vehicle sprue's Slaanesh symbol to his Storm Bolter.

Also, the cart itself got imporved with

  • another Nurgle Icon between the bell pole;
  • the bell is now swinging the other way, so as not to interfere with the silhouette of the model and the backpack in particular;
  • the back of the cart has three spikes added; and
  • the nurglings have pooped some PVA glue, so as to cover up the damage from the shortening of the corpse cart's 'coffin lid' base.

I'm still not sure about him though. I don;t like the storm bolter as a weapon option for him (although this model is probably for display purposes only, as I see no use for it in competitive games). Also, even though his torso is one of the FW plague marine torso's, I think I could do better. So I'm thinking of actually greenstuffing a complete torso with a normal MkIII torso as a base, and maybe one of the Plague Marine bellies with a mouth. This way, I can also give him a Plague Bearer head,which I catually prefer, as this guy should reflect the moniker I came up with for him: "the Harbinger of Decay" Suggestions for an actual name for him are welcome, btw

Here's some pics of him, which hopefully look good enough:

@codystuart: haha I'm so glad you caught that, that's exactly what they're intended for! ;)

@Teetengee: and it loves you! ;)

@Vel'Cona: The nurgle cult troops are done! They're featured here in my showcase. :)
