I certainly understand where they are coming from with that but its disappointing they could have done some great stealthy poses and what not. If it is an upgrade lernaens better be a full kit and they should release exodus too! IF got two upgrades but they also got two characters.

I suppose the plus side is that the IF upgrade kits are a decent saving vs buying a "full" unit (less than half the price of Mor Deythan, before you account for the plastics) so the Headhunter kit should be too.

Oh I totally agree that it's lame that they didn't do full kits even something simple or subtle on the legs would have been good (like the dark furies).

I can't imagine Lernaens wouldn't be a full kit, every single other legion specific termie has its own kit.

I am very curious to see how Exodus turns out, assuming we ever get a model. Sadly I think he'll end up model-less like a lot of the other minor "centurion-level" special characters.

Exodus would be nice but I'm not holding out too much hope; Dynat and Skorr (even if he was an Open Day exclusive) is more character models than some other Legions have got so far

Thats also considering that there is no model for Alpharius yet! I'm still hoping they all get released though, would be great!

Ok.... As promised here is a pictured tutorial up to he weathering because I am still trying to figure that out myself.

Here we go!

1. Base coat of the base grey from Vallejo. Really use whatever you want for this one

2. I airbrush the entire model with Vallejo air gun grey.

3. I use Vallejo air steel on the parts of the model that would receive the most light.

4. Next I use FW clear purple on similar fashion to the steel. I do a light coat over the majority of the model and add more purple on the top of the pads and what not.

5. Next I use Thin layers of tamiya clear blue over the whole model until I get a color I'd like.

6. Next is a thinned down was of the gurlyman glaze

7. I combined the last two steps. After girlyman glaze, I use the same steel to paint the helmet hoses, chest straps and shoulder pads. After the steels are done and the eyes I use vallejos new black wash over the whole model using a q tip to clean up where I don't want it.

Obviously the model is not done, I need to do the groin area, Rockets and i usually add a light dry brush of steel over the model. I hope this helps guys. Feel free to ask any questions!!

I have one! Dont remeber if I asked that before already, but in case I havent - do you need to thin the Tamiya Clear Blue to use for an airbrush or is it ready to be used as it is? If a thinner is needed, whats the best one to use and what proportions? Cheers! Nice tutorial!

I'm sure you can use it as is but like all airbrush paints including the ones that are "ready to go" out of the bottle I like to thin them all. It will always look better with multiple thin layers. But yea I thin it down with tamiya thinner. I've learned to its best to use the same thinners as paints you are using.

I think I might also get into an idea of thin layer painting. Takes more time and patience, but results are way better imho just by looking at different things and comparing them. Plus i prefer AL to have that kinda hightech look, rather than scorched and weathered, which is more of a Death Guard theme. So a 50/50 mix should do the trick then?

Man, I cannot wait to get pictures of our armies facing off on a table and post them up for people to see.  With your amazing clean lines and my muted weathered style of painting it's going present an extremely cool contrast between the 1905th Solar Auxilia Cohort and the Alpha Legion, we've got to use the city table so that the colors stand out even more.

Damn fine work, almost makes me want to use an air brush but I think I'd struggle with the weathered look if I did. :biggrin.:

I do 50/50 for just about all my mixing.

If I go alphas I'm shamelessly stealing your techniques where possible... Like a true Alpha Legionnaires...

haha go right ahead....i stole TONS of peoples schemes until i found one i really liked. Hope this helps!

I would argue with you but given the state of affairs that occurred during my Tau confrontation, I fear false bravado will not do me any good.  I will say that I've come up with some way to tactically mitigate the disaster but I won't have time to put them into effect until after our first encounter.  In a perfect world, I would love to see what would happen if my Lord Marshal and his Household Guard reached your commander with his support.  So much delayed choppy choppy with Lord Marshal Audacter weighing in at 230 points and bringing the insane wargear fury on your pretty marines! :biggrin.:

So not really a visual update, those will be coming tonight. After much consideration i have decided to sell off the omegon portion of my army AKA the green blue guys. As much as i like the idea of having split force it just doesn't make sense. So i will be selling them glaive and all and be putting alllll th money towards the purple alphas.

And here is the beginning of my replacement order. Hoping to add head hunters as well!

Still want that step by step. :smile.: *nudge*

Haha tutorial is about 15-20 above this one my friend

Damn your stealth tactics, I totally missed it. :biggrin.:

That said, I liked the blue-green guys. I may have to replicate your technique but use green where you used purple.

Haha no worries man hope it helps!

I certainly like the green blue but i like the purple better. I feel the purple adds to the blue and the green takes away and overpowers is a bit

I hope you realise you've almost single handedly turned me to the XXth Betrayer41!

Love the bronze mixed in with everything else D:

Hahaha well thank you for the kind words....but i can;t take any credit.....you were always a member of the XX you just didn't know it.

I like the bronze too. Is the different colouring supposed to have some significance?

There is a seeker in book III with a bronze shoulder pad and it says it relates to Dynat's lads

Bingo.... Based of the seekers in extermination
