I like the pigment because it actually looks like proper dust. However, with the predominately grey/black bases, it's a little mismatched to the rest of the guys. On its own I like it quite a bit, blue and yellow tints always offer nice contrasts.

The thing is love about pigments is you can try and if they don't work you can just wash them away!. None of these pigments are fixed on. I have a more volcanic ash grey pigment on its way so i think that should look much more like the dust that would go with these bases

Ok so long time no talk. I've gotten a lot done though! All termies are based, dread is based I've finished all seekers except shoulder pads. I've also built 5 melta and ten more tac guys. Also instead of continuing a separate thread for my RG I figure I'll put em here since they're technically AL!

Here are some updates enjoy!!

So I accidentally got paint on This guys helmet and had to repaint him. I tried something different, let me know what you think of this scheme compared to the original. I quite like it, thanks!!

I second this notion.

Also how did you get the metallic/wash to come out so crisp on the most recent alpha's? Is it just a by product of the gw plastic vs forgeworld resin?

Jimbo, are you talking about the wash on the steel or just the overall wash and sheen?

Wash and sheen I think. On the sergeant with the robe and power fist as the example it's the perfect amount of metallic with no sheen.

Alot of it has to do with the plastic over resin. Especially with metallic schemes, resin shows every bump, nook and miscast on the model. FW resin is great but with schemes like this it just goes on SOOOO much smoother with the plastic. The second big thing is how much i thin the vallejo wash, This is thinned down a bit more than usual and i really like it. Just make sure the wash is thinned and you clean up where you don't want it.

I figured as much. I use the same type of thing on my fists. I thought I was just going nutters but am relieved to know I'm not. Lol

Love the use of bitz on that sarge though.

Yea these schemes are difficult, they're time consuming, easy to mess up and show every flaw in the model. The IF i did seems to be the smoothest model i've done and go figure its ALLLL plastic. No coincidence there.
