Hello brothers, seeing that my WIP progets are being appreciated in the Works in Progress section of the forum, I thought I'd share here some of the models I completed, both for my armies and as side projects.

Let's start with the model that shares my nickname, Grand Master Laertes himself, from the Burning Ashes Chapter (and one of my personal favourites).

Next one is the bearer of the standard of the Chapter banner (and my first experiment with freehand painting)

The Magister of the Librarium:

The Captain of the First Company (who said that all the First Captains must have a Terminator armour? He has always been proud of being a Vanguard Veteran, and still love getting in the thick of the battle with his jetpack)

Archimedes, the Master of the Forge, whose fealty is more with Mars than with his own Chapter:

And let's end for today with the Fallen Angel Himself, one of the best models ever produced by GW, in my opinion, Cypher:

Hope you liked my works and didn't get bored smile.png

Excellent job there mate, if that's really your first attempt at freehand I must say that it turned great thumbsup.gif

Green and red has never been my favourite combo but you pulled it of.

Definitely following this thread, love to se more of your work.

Thanks brothers, I'm glad you liked my models.

I think that I managed to make red and green not clash by not using strong and saturated tones, but keeping them somewhat dark and dull, except for certain areas.

The colors on the librarian are beautifully vibrant, and somehow not as garish as I would imagine if someone told me they were going to make a blue, red, gray, gold and green figure

Your greens in general are pretty spot on.  The one thing that really sticks out at a glance is the Chaplain's head.  It seems...incomplete.  Too dark, maybe.  The Crozius conversion is pretty clever, though.

Well, the grey is a dull and neutral colour, which tends to sit in the background of our perception, so it would have been hard to make it clash with the other colours around it. Moreover it is used mainly on the base, more like a frame for the model than as a colour on it msn-wink.gif

As for the gold, I washed i with red before highlighting it, specifically to avoid it standing out too much from the reds around it.

I don't know, that dark tone is exactly what I was aiming for. I wanted to convey the impression of the skull helmet being made with a completely different material than the ceramite of the armour, to create a strong contrast. It has to be as if that was a real skull (albeit a really big one!) which stayed underground for a lot of time.

By the way, that is not a Chaplain, but my Chapter Master. I really loved the model, but a Terminator Chaplain never really fitted my playing style happy.png

These are all great!
Really good mixes of parts and really good paintwork and schemes that makes the combination of bright colours work well.
The Grand Master is lovely and Archimedes works especially well, with a feel of movement and menace missing from many Techmarines.

Thanks Battybattybats!

Today I was too tired to paint, so I put my time to use and took some pictures of my walking altar-Chaos Defiler (expecially to satisfy Darth Mustard's curiosity). Without further hesitation, here you are:

Hope you like it smile.png

Can we get the recipe for that green? I love it! The defiler looks utterly amazing.

My recipe is so simple that I almost feel ashamed to post it here tongue.png

On a white basecoat (I use Citadel's Skull White Spray), apply two or three thinned down layers of Ogryn Camo, to get a consistent base colour, wash it liberally with Athonian Camoshade until you are satisfied with the tone (I usually wash my models once or twice) and then highlight with Ogryn Camo. It couldn't be easier! I am a slow painter, so when I was involved in an escalating campaign (we started at 500 pts and had add 250 pts every two weeks), I needed to find a colour scheme which was extremely easy to replicate and fast to apply, and here's the result.

Another miniature I just completed: rother Vlad the Flawless, devote of Khorne and Reptors Aspiring Champion,  last surviving member of the Sanguinary Guard that accompanied Sanguinius on Signus Prime. So strong was the Red Thirst in him that when Khorne tried to bring the Legion to his side, Vlad fell deeply into his grasp, and could never break free from it. Unconscious and left for dead on the battlefield, was later recovered by Fabius Bile, which went on that blood hoping to find Astartes remains with the genetic code of the Blood Angels. After being fully healed by arts of the Arch-Alchemist, he has become one of his most trusted bodyguards and liutenant.

Enough with words, let the pictures speak for themselves. I hope you like it

Time for another update! As in my WIP thread I promised some pictures of my completed Vengeance Weapon Battery, I'll start with it. I consider it completed, even if, after photographing it, I feel that it lacks some battle damages. I'm not sure on how to realize them, though, so it will stay like this for a lot of time. Also, I have a lot of miniatures that I have to paint before coming back to perfect something that is yet ready to be deployed in a battle.

Then there is another model I am satisfied of, the Heldrake/manta ray I already posted in my WIP thread. I painted it a couple of years ago and it was the first model I tried to paint by wetblending colours thinned down to glaze consistency. In the future I will probably add some more rubble on its base, as it still feels incomplete to me,

Thanks Widowmaker!

Since I'm at my parent's home for this summer holydais and I don't have any hobby supplies here, I have some time to post other pictures of my completed models. Today I am posting my Fabius Bile, a miniature I always loved (and the reason why I started a Chaos army in the first place); a Sorcerer which was my first experiment at sculpting GS flames and some cultists, converted and not. Maybe someone of you already saw some of the converted ones in the first post of my WIP thread Hope you enjoy them.

EDIT: You'll notice come differences in their painting styles - this is due to them being painted in a couple of year time and with different objectives in mind (Fabius started as a showcase-only model, for example, while the Sorcerer and some of the Cultists were painted just for playing purposes, while other Cultists were like canvas to experiment new techniques and improve my skills)

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d29/GM_Laertes/new/DSCN0733_zps2102f7f2.jpg   http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d29/GM_Laertes/new/DSCN0734_zps972470ad.jpg

I chose to paint Fabius' armour white as a reminiscence of his old role as the chief Apothecary of his Legion. In most of his Horus Heresy representations he wears the purple armour of the Emperor's Children, but I feel a little bit nosthalgic for the old BG where all the Apothecaries only worn white armours.

The next update will be all about Nurgle Chaos Daemons!

And now, as promised, some Daemon allies (and among my better painted models so far) happy.png

Even if it is not a Daemon model, strictly speaking, I find that Festus is perfect to representc an Herald of Nurgle, as every detail points out to him not being a human being anymore, but a true vessel of the Father of Plague. Even though the model is amazing to look at, it was not much funny to paint, save from some details

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d29/GM_Laertes/new/DSCN0703_zpsdae309f8.jpg

Then a simple conversion of the over-used Chaos Warrior of Nurgle, with a Plaguebearer's fly head instead of his own, to use as another Herald or as a champion for the plaguebearers. This was much funnier to paint than the previous model, as the details were crispier than on festus. Truly GW is doing miracles with the plastic, and this is a comparatively old kit. I'm wondering what kind of quality level they reached for the new Nagash.

  • 4 months later...

It has been a long time since I last posted here, but my brushes didn't rest in all these months. Actually, it has been a quite prolific period, even if "real life" has been quite busy lately. It is just that I couldn't find the time/will to take more pictures and edit them tongue.png

However, here I am with the latest models I painted, the beginning of my first HH army, the Taghmata Fureans (Mechanicum), inspired to the Legio Fureans colour scheme found in the Horus Heresy Book 3

The first one to show is my Magos Dominus (he doesn't have a name yet. He is the current general of my army, but he will be replaced as the leader as soon as I will get my hands on the Archmagos model!
I have to admit that this has been one of the model I enjoyed painting the most in my entire hobby career. The details are so crisp and there are so many different textures on it that I practically felt morally obliged to experiment new techniques and colour combinations.

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d29/GM_Laertes/DSCN0853_zps5f6ea6f9.jpg
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d29/GM_Laertes/DSCN0855_zps229d9b3d.jpg

Then There are his two Tech-Priest Auxilia lieutenants. Before painting them I thought that the FW one would have been as pleasant to paint as the Magos Dominus, but it hasn't been so. Actually, I enjoyed way more painting the old metal GW Techpriest, even if his anatomical proportions are clearly odd.

Then there is the Medicae Servitor from the Death Korps of Krieg Quartermaster set, which I will use as an objective marker or a Servitor for a Lacymaerta Tech-Priest... or even a Magos Biologis, if there will ever be rules for them in a future Horus Heresy Book. I think this model is simply one of the epitomes of the "grimdark" concept. From the same set I am also painting the servitor with all the scrolls on it (I will post it soon in my WIP thread, I think), that I will use ad an Objective Marker or as a Lexmechanich stand-in.

Finally, here are my first units of Tech-Tralls and Thallx. For now I will post just unit shots of them, as I think this post is already heavy enough with images, but will post individual pictures soon.
