Haha, easy guys ;) While it is true I will need a short break from painting World Eaters, don't fret: This guy is one of the next ones in line to be painted, and I already have just the right occasion in mind to start on him. So it probably won't be that long.

Hmmm, that gives me crazy ideas, to cut the horns off the top and stick them on the lower jaws as mandibles. Those talons give him a Praying Mantis vibe, so I am thinking corrupted Mantis Warrior from the Badab Wars.

Looks good Incinerator950... The talons could be surgical implememts which have warped in the.... Warp? a bit like Fabius Biles backpack. Almost does away with the need for the narthecium. I could imagine him using those to rip apart armour and flesh to reach the juicy geneseed inside :)

My attempt at both our most infamous champion and his Ultramarine victim.

 

First time painting an Ultramarine and I must say that he came out too heavily washed. The color looks like somewhere in between Night Lord midnight blue and Emperor's Children royal purple... Urgh, better luck next time.

Khârn is looking pretty sweet, Relict!

 

I haven't seen anyone do his faceplate in gold/brass yet. That's cool as hell. 

 

I don't think the Ultra came out too dark at all. He actually looks pretty similar to how I paint them. I'd recommend taking his highlight up one step higher with a neutral blue, and I think that would brighten it right up.

 

The Ultramarine's shoulder pads though. They cry out for a transfer or freehand. I want to know what company of smurfs Khârn is wading through! :D

Khârn himself looks fine to me. His victim and the base leave something to be desired. I think the problem with the Ultramarine being too dark is that I used too much nightshade to wash him. 

 

As for markings on the Ultramarine, I painted him according to my mental image of the Armaturan Evocati. Hence the ample gold and white markings. I need to get my hands on an UM decal sheet...

I am planning on bashing my vanilla grunts with vanilla marines, chaos marines, and possessed bits with DV bolter chosen as squad leaders. So I want to get a hold of bolters with affixed bayonets, but the standard combat knives look flimsy as crap and I don't want to make attachments using them.

 

What's the most cost effective way to get phobos or umbra bolters? Hell, I'll just take the blades and chain bayonet, but I'm not privy to bit vendors.

BTW, and this is purely because we as World Eaters should be among the first to hear, i'm working on a new B&C event where we can all challenge each other. I'm finishing working out the details and working with a certain slaanesh worshipping frater for the banners and medaillions, but the intent is to inspire production of cool one-off projects (which can be part of your army of course) and bonding between frater. :tu:

 

I'm hoping on your support around the Forum, as you all have frater who your familiar with and networking is crucial to the succes and positive experience of the event :)

As I no longer have codex accesss, I have to guestimate the load on a juggerlord, mayhem pack, heldrake, and then my chaos squads and khornate biker squad.

 

Also got some Umbra Bolters. Plan is to make 2-4 min squads with plasma rifles and ccws, maybe even havoc launchers on the rhinos.
