The fall of Cur-Point, part 2

Even the keen eyes of the astartes patrolling Cur-points' perimeter missed the writhing, inconsistent form of the familiar as it rapidly advanced through the scorched and blackened husk of what had once been the ancient cypress forest surrounding Cur-Point. Gliding past the patrols of guardsman walking the perimeter, the wraith collected itself in the corner of the walls' angled openings, solidifying itself into the form of a snake just long enough for it to deposit the last armed melta charge from its' smokey embrace into the nook on one of the walls' watchtower supports. A moment later, the serpent dissipated into the smoke filled air of the mountainside.

"The charges are in place Epistolary, we begin on your command." Hrana reported through the mind link provided by the Librarians' will.

" Starovehk Rizene Porozky lies in wait, his cannon churns with anticipation." Ardryah added from his perch atop a low, thick branch in the treeline, the branch splintering and bending under the weight of his clawed boots as they dug deep into the meat of the tree.

there was a long pause....

And Epistolary Cerna Ohen spoke both physically and in the minds of his subordinates,

" For Tundara, and our kin, let us break those who stand before our vengeance.

Begin the mission."

And so, bloodshed began anew, in the name of revenge, on a world burned to its' core.

The ear splitting crack of the melta charges sent shock-waves rolling throughout the compound, achieving in the blink of an eye what the Tau had ultimately failed to do in 10 days of on and off assault. Inside of the compounds' courtyard, the Fire Stallions' had not been prepared for such an attack so soon, and were aught wholly off guard.

Darus snapped to from his own thoughts, looking up from the motionless armor of his dead brothers. He stands and turnes to leave, slamming the key on the rhinos' tail ramp, and snapping his bolter up as he storms out into the dust storm of falling debris. With haste, he calls for damage reports and shouts out commands over the comm link, heavily set upon by static, and switches to the squad wide channel.

"what in all 12 of the bloodiest moons was that?!" he snapped, his temper edging his words.

The comms feed came back with more static, the interference even worse than from what the Tau had previously lain on the area in their assaults.

Several desperate guard officers gave sporadic information on their sections' status along various positions in and around the compound, and several of his brothers had pulled themselves from the rubble of the wall, most regrouping towards Darus' direction, their eyes no doubt on the lookout for targets as the dust storm slowly settled.

Mind racing, Darus analyzed his precarious situation.

Casualties aren't low, Raffs' indicator was a scarlett red, a grievous injury, and Kalda was dead, the explosion claiming his life. This left 5 of his brothers combat ready, more or less... Orths' severed arm came to mind.

Their positions came into view on the interior of his helm, each of the survivors moving carefully among the debris.

The mortals were a mess, injuries and deaths were growing easier to determine because so few men were left to make corpses out of... he'd estimated a little over 2 dozen incapacitated or dead, most likely more if the enemy made their move yet...

"brother ancient Grace, i request your assistance in the center of the compound, get eyes on the main gates' location and keep an eye out for xenos ghost teams and crisis suits."

the icon for the dreadnought pinged twice in response, the ancient moving from the vehicle storage facility in which he'd been keeping watch over.

The wall is compromised, nay, obliterated... and the mortals are in complete disarray, Darus thinks to himself,

there were no proximity warnings, and no tremor readings whatsoever, what in the thrones name is going on.... how could the xenos.....

the vox crackled again, the crashing boom of bolter fire muffled but audible.

A pair of syllables cut into the ringing ears of Cur-points survivors, and echoed emptily in the earpieces of the dead,

"contacts!"

brother Oron barked into his mouthpiece.

The Tundaran Knights descended on plumes of smoke and ash from all around the compounds' sundered wall, their silenced armor and minds unseen to the prying eyes of the imperials by the epistolarys' null field.

Sergeant Hrana and Jehnek jumped together, arching high into the smoke filled night air, their fall aimed towards the nearest known location of the enemy astartes, who now numbered pitifully few. Jehneks' powered talons remained a dark, cold steel, ready to activate and pierce armor or flesh, while Hrana unclasped the hand flamer mag-locked to his waist, priming the pilot light with a flick of the safety. The deadly pair reached the zenith of their jump, just higher than where the cypress tress once stood, and began their final descent.

Below, a single, silver armored form knelt behind the rubble, searching frantically. Outlined in their helms' sights, the space marine was easy to discern from on high...

Brother Kayl of squad Xederic had kept his wits about him in the aftermath of the explosion on the wall. Picking himself up out of the rubble and retrieving his bolt gun from the debris, he jogged over to the mouth of the breach, now dark after the compounds' perimeter lights were blown out.

Enemies like the Tau can rapidly fill such a huge breach, he thought, i need to secure the area and rally the mortals still breathing....

Weapon at the ready, he peered out into the night outside the ruined wall, his multi-spectrum vision through his helm more than sufficient for spotting targets in the dark of night.

Nothing....? This is strange. He ducks to the right slightly, suddenly wary, perhaps an enemy sniper?

Kayl glanced skyward, seeing only the rising embers and dust from the walls' collapse from the eyes of is helm, sharp senses seeing nothing more.

Crisis suits would produce noise and the exhaust tails are a bright red.... from the ground then?

He drops to one knee and brings his bolter back to the breach, waiting for the enemy to make their move.

What he had missed, in his haste to find the enemy, were the 2 black forms rocketing downwards towards him, concealed by the psykers' power.

Kayl looked up just a fraction too late after Orons' simple warning sounded across the vox, the sharp talons of a ceramite clad boot impacting heavily into the side of his helm and sending him reeling.

Jehnek pushed off the astartes' helm after planting the sharpened toes firmly into his preys' faceplate, firing his jump pack to propel himself away as Hrana landed heavily before the lone imperial, standing up tall and bringing about the hand flamer in his right fist.

Before he'd even had a chance to shout in surprised outrage, Kayl found himself bathed in a toxic mix of burning promethium and corrosive fluids, the cracks formed in his helm from being kicked in the face by a falling astartes growing as the chemical mix went to work on the glass of his eye lenses and the ceramite plates.

Flailing in agony, Kayl brought up his bolter and fired indiscriminately, spitting bolt shells wide into the rubble and dirt of the compound in hopes of finding his killers,

but they had already departed, darting away to their next target.

The space marine died in agony, promethium fires burning away the flesh of his skull and acids chewing at his bones. The demi-god dropped to his knees, fiery hands grasping uselessly at his helm.

Moments passed, and his fruitless actions began to slow...

until he slumped down into a giant, charred heap of burning flesh and blackened armor, face down in the soot stained dirt.

All along the outside of the wall, guardsman died screaming, their weapons, armor, and flesh ripped apart in a flurry of armor blades and whirring chain teeth as Husaran literally flew by. The blood covered astartes used not only his chainblade, but his very armor as a weapon, what may have once been seen as decorative spines turned into deadly extensions of Husarans' murderous intent as he barreled through any mortals who drug themselves to their feet after the initial explosion went off.

Circling around and darting between either the portions of wall still standing, or the rubble piles that remained, Husaran took in what he saw and relayed details to his brothers, all the while lopping off limbs and severing heads.

*mechanical clicking and whirring*

"brothers, the astartes have abandoned the mortals outside the compound, i have dealt with many of them" Husaran states calmly,

he whips out his fist with enough force to break an iron-wrought door, gutting another man on the spines of his knuckles,

" the dreadnought is their lynchpin, along with a pair of chimera pattern transports and a rhino."

the chainswords' sharpened knife-point tip lacerates another mans' chest, before another swing bisects the next guardsman at the waist along the whirring teeth of the sword. Husaran continues unopposed.

*a low pitched whine and the crackle of a diode overloading*

"we are ready for your arrival, brother ancient."

a small smile spreads over Husarans' gaunt face, sealed behind the white, beaked helmet signature to the vulture.

"I thank you for your report, brother" the librarian replied cooly.

He walks to the brown and white form of the dreadnought, Rizene Porozky.

" come now dearest ancient," he calls, placing a gauntlet on the bottom of the sarcophagus containing the corpse of his kinsman,

"let us give the god-sons something to fear..... It is time to let them hear your wondrous war cry."

Ohen steps down the rocky pathway,

behind him, the ancient war-machines' engines cough and sputter into life once more, black smoke spewing forth behind the mounted corpse of a long dead Khornate berzerker. The rattle of an assault cannon is audible over the whirring of chainblades mounted on the dreadnoughts' left arm.

Howdy y'all! I got a LOT to do this post, so let's get to it!

First off, Summer band is here! i freakin' hate being outside for 4+ hours in over 100 degree weather! But it's fun, so whatever.... This means my freetime is dropping to about the same as during the school year. (being out from 7:30 to 3 daily)

Speaking of which, school will be starting soon now that i think about it.

Ugggghhhh dry.png

Now, for the meat of this update,

thinking back now, i probably should have posted pictures of these guys and their individual backstory a looong time ago, like back in page 1-2... but i'd forgotten to paint their backpacks and kept putting it off, until now that is!

by them, i do mean squad xerxes, the unfortunates involved with the whole Cur-Point incident... there's a LOAD of pictures i'd taken (on my mothers' "borrowed" phone to boot! yay better quality!) and a good deal of writing, so i'll put in the first coupla guys riiiight.....

now.

Fire Stallions::

3rd company- 9th squad Squad "Xederic"

Sergeant Darus Masinford

Having served for over 70 terran years in the chapter, sergeant Darus earned a name for himself as a straightforward, and capable leader. After being moved into the company proper at the end of his trials as a scout, Darus gained quick recognition by his squad sergeant and predecessor, Ingrass Xederic, for his keen eye with a boltgun and stoic approach to warfare.

After the loss of sergeant Xederic and several of the squads' number during the early days of the Ghorenia campaign, Darus took up the mantle of squad sergeant and began refitting the squad for redeployment.

But then, the Inquisition arrived.

And unwittingly brought with them death and destruction on a system wide scale.

After the tragedy that was the Ghorenia campaign, the Fire Stallions, who'd deployed entirety of their 3rd, 5th, and 7th war companies to the war effort, were forced to take emergency measures to restock and recuperate their grievous losses, pulling out from the groups sent to hunt down the Tundaran Knights, and also hold off the Tau threat that remained in the nearby starways.

Given 6 "unblooded" battle brothers to bring the squad to full strength, Darus and the majority of the 3rd company were prepared to return to the war front of the Kharbydan majoris cluster, near where they'd previously seen action at Ghorenia. Fighting with a vengeance against the xenos that continued to trouble the cluster with raids and territorial expansion into Imperial starways, the 3rd company became especially adept at dealing with the combat drones and warsuits fielded by the tau.

The Roshen campaign was supposed to be just like their previous victories in the area, being the 6th major deployment of the company since Ghorenia, but Squad Xederic, along with many more of Darus' brothers, were completely unprepared for the what would come to pass on the forested mountains of the imperial settlement world.Of

Of note:

-the servo skull attached to darus' systems is used primarily for target tracking and as a detection base for target identification superior to when he is alone.

- The boltgun Darus typically deploys with, a relic of the squad typically passed down from sergeants to their second in command upon official recognition as successor.

Battle brother Kayl Traduss

one of the newest members of the Fire Stallions 3rd company, Kayl is ambitious and driven by a passion for fighting xenos bordering on obsession. He holds a particular distaste for Tyranids, which he looks down upon as little better than vermin to be eradicated. His hatred is understandable, stemming from the loss of his original homeworld of Grisaia to the Great Devourer many moons ago.

Of note:

-the ritual scarring over the right eye was a tradition of Kayls' homeworld, a relic of the planets' Military infrastructure as a mark of heroism in battle

Battle brother Oron Derrivalle

With a penchant for using a combat blade and bolt pistol, Oron is known in the wquad for being a bit detached from what others would deem common sense. Orons' strange habits and approach to warfare have forced Darus to constantly alter his plans when involving Oron, as the stubborn mule of an astartes refuses to abide by any rule other than his own, unless they pander to his own preferences.

Oron himself is a veteran of the squad, having served n the 9th squad for nearly as long as Darus himself. This long serving record stems from another od Orons' strange habits, in which he always disappears from the squad during a battle at one point or another, only to return later with an empty bolt pistol, and blood covered combat blade, right when he is needed by his squadmates.

Of note:

-whilst the chapter symbol covers the right pauldron, the left is marked specifically for each company. In the 3rd, the black numerals represent the company, and the white betwixt them the squad number, in this case, 9th squad.

-The blade has been freshly drawn into Orons' fist, usually the sign that he's about to run off on his own somewhere nearby the rest of the squad.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Okay! that does it for today, the next chunk of the squad will be arriving next time, the pics are all taken and uploaded, just didn't want to overflow the thread with soo many at once. Too much of anything is a bad thing, afterall!

definitely like the newer pic quality, will try to steal borrow my moms' phone again more often now... ph34r.png

lemme know what y'all think of 'em, oh, and to show what comes after Cur-Point is finished...

Hope y'all liked it! Have a good 'un! happy.png

Fire Stallions::

3rd company- 9th squad Squad "Xederic"

Squad second Orth Catamis

A promising youth taken in from the black moons of Servacruz in the Eionos star system by the 3rd companies' fleet secondary, Orth Catamis showed spectacular results when tested for gene seed acceptability, his natural reflexes and quick wits were only matched by his mild temperament and soft appearance. Such a mild mannered man sat at odds with many of the Fire Stallions whose bravado and eagerness for warfare were second to none, which is why an onlooker would be startled to see Orth with his Battle-Brothers in the field.

When in war, Orth is nothing short of a taskmaster, barking orders left and right, berating those falling behind, and never holding back against any mistakes made by his allies, whether or not they're willing to hear him out.

Such a vivid change in persona is quite noted by the members of the 3rd, who often jibe and prod Orth outside of combat for being such an unrelenting force, it is also what got Orth noticed by sergeant Darus when Orth was assigned to the squad along with the rest of the newly promoted scouts.

In the Beginning hours of the 9th squads' service at Cur-Point, Orth would lose his left arm at the elbow to a Tau smart missile barrage, he had been luckier than many imperials before him who had been caught unawares by the modified stealth suits the xenos employed regularly, and would return to service to finish repelling the invaders after a quick armor seal, utterly ignoring a wound that would put mortals out of service for good.

Of Note:

-the laurel wreaths and iron skull were earned during Orths' first series of campaigns against the tau, prior to the chapters' deployment at Roshen, for his bravery and impressive leadership of allies on the warfront.

Battle brother Raff Chyras

Extremely Agile for an astartes, Raff was always accustomed to running, from his youth as a hive ganger on the ice world of Chernavile, to his deployments as a scout, and now as a full battle brother of the Fire Stallions.

Utilized as the squads' lookout and scout, Raff serves his brothers well as a forerunner and lookout, as well as a skilled pilot and rider. On numerous occasions since being placed into Darus' squad, Raff has convinced Darus to claim him an outrider pattern assault bike, and load it into the rear access ramp of the squads' rhino for "scouting and surveying enemy positions."

His squad mates know otherwise, of course, as Raffs' love for speed is tangible in his every motion, swift and sharp as a blade.

Battle brother Urik Ublaise

a steadfast and reckless astartes, Urik Ublaise is a perfect example of the spirit of the chapter. One of Darus oldest squad mates, Urik has had a track record of walking away from attacks that would fell an astartes ten times over, laughing heartily all the while.

Uriks' bond with brother Nass is as strong as the armor they wear, the younger astartes of similar happy-go-lucky disposition, even in times of great stress. Their friendship and camaraderie would last to the moment they died.

Of Note:

The plasma burn scarring the left side of Uriks' helm was received during the siege of Cur-point, not the most hideous or deadly encounters he'd walked away from victoriously, wearing a sly grin.

Hope y'all liked it, i know they aren't my best works, but i'm really trying to focus on my writing to go with these "tabletop quality" models, the knights will, of course, be the ones receiving more attention per piece, whenever i get around to doing them...... sweat.gif

Evenin' everybody!

i got a quick little update tonight, as i'd experienced a quick bout ouf insanity creativity and couldn't help making a new model, a good change of pace too...

anyways, i blame the space marine video game for the original idea/concept ....

meet Honved Morser, a particularly brutal and unstable astartes, even among his peers:

I do plan on working in something into his background about his special hatred for the Eldar in general, but how a dark eldar found its' way to the Tau-Imperial contested planet of Roshen, i'll have to mull over a little bit..... blink.png

The rest of squad Xederic *should* come next, then i guess i'll draw the opening chapter of the siege of Roshen to a close...

Which means that i get to start on the story proper!

MOAR psychopathic demi-god murderers with a hankering for revenge!!

(including a freeblade knight that's been sitting on my desk for lord knows how long.)

also, school starts up in the next coupla weeks. and we all know what THAT means. unsure.png

Have a good one y'all!! smile.png

Honved Morser looks pretty awesome, though his chain sword looks a bit pole sawish. My Sternguard Sergeant has a similar leg pose, but I haven't decided exactly what I want to base him with. I've been tossing around the idea of him standing on a slain foe, but it seems a bit wonky and a lot cliche... mellow.png

Thanks a bunch!

i hope that i can keep finding inspiration for more poses, i have a BUNCH for an assault squad that i'm dying to try......................soon................. happy.png

I do understand what you mean on the sword, i've liked the thunder hammer handles and wanted to use one, but the chainsword he has lacks...... something. i plan on changing it.

for your own guy, i'd say go for it, if you like the idea enough, cliche doesn't matter if you're happy with him!

making 2 bases works pretty well, for me. as i don't have any of the "new" marine sized bases to use yet, the smaller one for games, and for display, the terminator base. perfect and hassle-free!

Update time!

Fire Stallions::

3rd company- 9th squad Squad "Xederic"

Brother Reyin Arcellus

Reyin was assigned to squad Xederic during the new influx of recruits to the 3rd company, and has since earned the honor of bearing the squads' special weapons to war.

Of Note:

-the right to bear specialist or heavy weapons is earned in the Fire Stallions, a mark of respect or trust by the squad sergeant in ones' capabilities in the field of battle.

-the red helm worn by Reyin is the typical mark of a specialist in the Fire Stallions' squads.

Brother Nass Entach

A lighthearted and jovial individual, Nass joined squad Xederic with the rest of the new recruits and showed great skill in observing the ebb and flow of battle, particularly the movements of enemy groups and inferring the enemies' disposition. He is shown here with an auspex given to him by sergeant Darus, showing his trust in the newbloods' proclivities for technical observation.

Nass and Urik have been extremely close since their meeting, showing exceptional combat results when deployed together, and can typically be seen joking and prodding one another in high spirits.

Brother Kalda

Devastator squads are known for being made up of brothers who have shown great tactical flexibility in the face of trying battlefield situations, Brother Kalda, along with all other heavy support tactical marines, has served for an extended period in the 3rd companies' devastator cadre, in order to hone his capabilities with the bulky weapons he is privy to.

Brother Malkor Eres

With a trio of service studs running across his brow, Malkor Eres has fought since before some of the newer members of the squad were

born, a fact he holds over the rest of the squad regularly. A strict follower of the chain of command, Malkor is renown among his brethren for going through with even the most orders given to him by an officer of the Militarum during joint operations, and reinforcing with the younger squadmates the necessity of trusting a commanding officer.

Of Note:

-a veteran of numerous campaigns, Malkor has made use of numerous weapons, both imperial and alien, he is shown here holding the squads' spare flamer after his boltgun suffered critical damage during the early days of the siege at Cur-Point, and the situation deemed its' use necessary.

-Malkors' power pack is decorated with the crux terminatus, his service with the 1st company an honor he wears proudly

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

So, i finished the tactical squad, finally. i went ahead and kinda rushed to finish the writing, just because i really want to move on to the stars of the thread, the knights....

also of note, i've finished basing and painting a second tactical squad for the stallions, the arms for 4 of the vanguard veterans, and a pair of captains for tabletop use in larger games, as these are my tabletop, or rather "proper" army.

next, i plan on painting the knights, gotta get some more brown and white power armor in before school starts!

'till next time y'all!

hope y'all liked it, even a little! biggrin.png

EDIT:: also, thanks a ton for 20K views!!! I appreciate ya!

short update today,

would like y'alls opinions on my newest member of the Tundaran Knights, Vehlka Sekhann.

To be more specific, his weapon....

Dunno what to call it other than a twin barreled rapid fire magma pistol/meltagun. In my mind it sorta occupies the space between an assault weapon and a pistol, and makes up for the lack of power the meltagun has by firing off shots in quick succession, as well as the extra fuel feeds on the back for longevity.

This is one of the numerous by products of the knights' allies in the mechanicum furthering their "heretical" experimentation by creating new weapons from older designs, rather than worshipping old relics. A thought that pleases me to no end. tongue.png

Overall, it took the body of a bolter, most of a storm bolter, 2 combi meltas, a melta bomb, a guardsman's flamer pack, and the handle from a maximini mini-gun to make, in addition to the plasticard and fuel cables.

Not exactly the easiest conversion i've done! sweat.gif

anyway, i'm kinda iffy on the overall silhouette the gun has, especially in the first picture, it looks almost lopsided, so i may cut the feeds and add a little plasticard to thicken the area and make the join more concrete, if y'all have any suggestions, ideas, or downright hate it, feel free to lemme know, i'd be hapopy to hear your opinion.

After possibly alterations and some general cleanup on the pair, i'll be priming him and his previous counterpart for induction into the ranks, i think they'll be quite fun to paint!

This also means that i'll need to come up with ideas for the next 3 or so minis, to finish out the squad.... ideas welcome! (poses, weapons, anything helps)

anyway, i'll get some knights painted for next update, hopefully before school starts. (next week pinch.gif)

Y'all have a good one now! thanks.gif

“For several moons now in Roshens’ central continent, there had been talk amongst the guardsmen of a revenant haunting the rocky battlefields. Ghost stories of a blood soaked wraith, appearing from the night itself, a creature which dubbed the soil with the blood of any it came across. As the stories go, it was a being heralded by mist the color of blood, clad in the plate of a god, carrying sword and shield, tailed by a pair of war-hounds whose fur was awash with gore….

They said it was a vengeful soul, a monstrous being that carves the xenos apart in the dead of night, when they grew their boldest.

A ghost sent by the emperor to slay his foes and prove to them their folly with a swift death.

They hailed it as our savior, an angel not unlike what they called the ones who’d soon walk among us, during our time of need.

But those who really knew this monsters’ kind, would call him a knight.

I know them, and so do our own war gods.

The Stallions still bleed from their wounds suffered at the hands of these beasts…

They refused to die then, and now, they will hunt us again.

May the emperor protect our souls..….”

-Personal log of Commisar Kaymen Rhyes, attached to the Kythian guard 5th infantry regiment, deployed to the defense of Roshen from the Tau expansionist forces. A week after the fall of Cur-Point, located nearly 380 kloms to the southeast.

Peicke Obrai, of the Tundaran Knights:

Peicke Obrai Is a broken man, consumed by his outrage at what has become of his dear brothers. Prior to their excommunication, Peicke and his like-minded brothers, the high chaplain among them, preached an acceptance to the gene deficiencies that plagued the chapter. They believed that by embracing the power given unto them, they could become stronger, strong enough to protect the Imperium and its’ people.

Loyal to the throne, almost to a fault, Peicke almost couldn’t believe that he and his kin had been declared heretics, sentenced to death by the inquisition for the crime of being “impure”. The betrayal had left him speechless, seething with anger, he and his brothers had served for countless years to fight for the Imperium, and now, they were being tossed aside like trash, killed off because they were different from the “pure” astartes.

His hate seethed, and he and his kin butchered their way out of the system they were supposed to die in.

Now newly deployed to Roshen with the rest of Rodina Opratka, led by Olsleven Harvran, Peicke still bears the imperial Aquila proudly, if not defiantly, as a sign of his defiance against those who’d see his brothers dead.

Of Note:

-Peicke Obrai-- pronounced pike o-br-i

-preferring hand to hand combat, the power sword and storm shield Peicke brings to the warfront are often left powered off during his lone forays in the middle of the night, to better conceal himself from direct view.

-Peickes' baroque power plant is one of many found in the chapters' armory, relics of the late crusades.

-not shown are the pair of blood-hounds familiars that often accompany him to battle, they are most called upon when he expects the enemy to flee or hide.

..... i may have gone a little overboard with the blood.....

he's practically to Khorne berserker status with all that gore.....

eh, it was fun to paint. who cares? tongue.png

this makes possibly number 6 for the veteran squad Rodina Opratka, "the hanging noose" led by no other than the blind raven himself...

one more and i should have the first proper squad finished!! yay!

anyway..... hop you guys liked him, i have 2 more finished guys who i'm writing drafts for.... hope to show y'all soon!

have a good day y'all! happy.png

Liking the new guys, the gun silhouette is alright, it is a little bulky but I think he would make a great Huron stand in.

Thanks Guardian!

I'm glad it isn't too unbalanced looking, i was hoping for using it as either a multimelta (if i'd ever need one) or some other heavy weapon in the squad.

Of course, my squad size is typically 7 for the knights, so i can't say i'm exactly following the rules for marines armies with these guys...

Eh, they weren't meant for real games anyway, although i could see the Knights as an allied detachment of either Legion of the Damned or Chaos marines in the random game i'm not using my loyalist army... how competitive is Blackheart?? I haven't seen the chaos marine codex as of yet.

alrighty, next up::

Skilled in the use of bladed weapons, specifically the Tomahawk, Lupic fights with a calculated and methodical manner similar to a machine, using his modified boltguns' directly implanted sight to better spot enemies in visual spectrums that would leave even other space marines sightless.

Istir Kusohv

Carrying a modified Cyrex pattern assault cannon and combat axe, Istir provides support fire for his brethren, mulching entire swathes of enemy infantry into a bloody pulp with the whirlwind of high calibre shells the fearsome weapon can loose in a volley.

His modified leg greaves and cerebral implants further fortify his position in a support role, the extra layers of ceramite providing protection, while the grafted machine eye common among the chapter is directly linked to the weapon he carries, ensuring an unerring accuracy normally seen in dead-eyes and sharp shots.

have to go quick here, band practice and all, but i'm pretty happy with these guys....

just gotta clean up the highlights adn such and i'll be done with them for sure.

Some excellent new Marines.

thanks.gif

Guys look great painted, as for Huron he is alright he can give some guys infiltrate and his claw is okay. He is the same points as Khârn too so not too expensive for a named character. Oh and he comes with a free psychic power, which is random.

Thank ya much!

My gaming circle (heptagon?) has the new chaos marine codex, if i do try a game with the heretic 'dex i may just run Huron..... with school starting TOMORROW i think that'll be a ways off, may get myself a weekend where i can try it though... we'll see!

Thanks for the idea!

update wise, i haven't been doing much, mostly been hanging out with friends and trying to enjoy my last weekend of freedom... cry.gif

bit the bullet and got myself a stormtalon for a stormwing, this'll be the first of 3 or so i end up with in the end, air superiority is key!!

*but why 3? the stormwing only calls for 2 talons?* some of you may ask.

well, 2 for the Fire Stallions, and 1 for the Tundaran Knights, the knights' talon itself will be seeing some extensive changes, once i get around the first 2 (including buying the things)

i got plans, mates, big ones!! thumbsup.gif

it will also be the first knights vehicle for the motor pool, other than the imperial knight. I'm thinking of how i want the knights' motor-pool to look, with the Fire Stallions being primarily mech assault with the stormwing as support, i may focus on either heavy air superiority or drop pod focus for the knights...

i want to pic a style of warfare suited best to a force of marines that numbers so few, ideas welcome!

The kromlech bitz are for conversions, the bionic legs for the knights, and the orc field cannon and bionic weapons arms for the start of my mechanicus cohort, whenever i get around to them...

in other news, i'm trying to convince my dad to let me order a bunch of forgeworld stuff before the free shipping offer ends, looking at beginning or mid September, so i've been working out my purchase list....

that contemptor conversion i'd planned out a while ago will be quite tempting... as well as a bunch of weapons and such for marines conversions.... laugh.png

so, that's what i got for my last summer update!

next on the chopping block will be either:

1- painting the last space hulk termies

2- finishing the assault squad/raptor squad

3- redoing Sveratel Kostin and actually starting work on the Imperial Knight

4- Tundaran knights foot soldiers, building and painting

5- Fire Stallions vehicles and or squads

6- or actually starting work in my hall of honor thread...

i'll probably be rolling a dice a coupla times..... 6 choices is perfect!!

See y'all around next update, Hope ya have a good day! happy.png

There are some really great poses in these recent batches. The scratch built eye bionics on not-Huron look really good too.

Thanks a whole lot sock, means a lot!

The first week of school's been a bit of a B, to be honest.... but i think i can manage to get through it all

maybe... wacko.png

Anyway, in some of my precious spare time, i put together another marine with a scenic (terminator) base.

now, he looked all well and good, but the piece was lacking something.....

so i sat there for a second, music blaring in my ear, and stared....

until i got myself an idea.

BAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAM!

(i've been reading a lot of comics and manga lately.... the Onomatopoeia was necessary. tongue.png)

He is also separable from the base, like his predecessor, there's a tiny gap in the cascade where the bullets separate for each base, letting me use him on the table too.

Had fun with the bullet cascade, will definitely have to do it again with a minigun though.....

I'm also thinking of adding a sculpted muzzle flash for gunfire, but i've no clue how to go about that. So may not.

You may also notice the axe blade on the pauldron and a little beetle leering out opposite, both of course are to add character to this... erhm.... character.

Comments or critiques are more than welcome to him and others, i know there are a couple of things i can see wrong with 'em here and there!

That's all i got. hope y'all liked him, if not.... well, uh... that's fine too. biggrin.png

painted stuff to come, someday......

Have yourselves a good 'un! happy.png

Very Cool , my only complaint are the grenades on his right pad. Other than that a Cool Piece.

Now that ya point it out... all i can say is, oops. tongue.png

to be honest, there was a horrible glue mark on the pauldron and i'd just grabbed the nearest bit i could to hide it, i'll be sure to fix that! happy.png

what diameter of plastic rod did you use for the bolter shell casings? That effect looks great, I can't lie.

As for the muzzle flash? look into armorcast-- theirs are metal, but might be right up your alley.

1 (or .92 if ya want exacts) millimeter diameter rod works perfectly.

Here's a link to a tutorial i found on it, very helpful for strucural support tips:

http://miniakh.blogspot.com/2013/04/falling-bullets-effect.html

I'd also recommend exxagerating the parabola of the shells, looking at mine, the arc is a tad too linear. Given the sheer power of a bolter, i'd think that the shells are literally shot out of the gun, and these look like they're pretty much falling out.

hmm... i'll have to look into it, sounds promising.

Only problem with buying stuff is my distinct lack of any money (particularly a credit card), that i can dependably dump into ANYTHING.

Bein' an unemployed senior in highschool don't help much with buying models! laugh.png

Thanks for lookin' y'all i appreciate ya!

Haha, I love the stream of shell casings, that looks awesome!

Thanks a bunch Bob! biggrin.png

Looks good, you should make a marine getting hit by all those shots!

DUDE, that's a great idea!!!

Definitetly going to put that in my to-do list! (looks like i'll have to start practicing extra hard on my sculpting work.) laugh.png

Not much of an update just yet, got some work in on a quartet of marines, two vets and the last two raptor/assault marines.

Just basecoats and a wash.

as this weekend is a 3 day weekend, i "should" be able to finish or get darn close to finishing these guys...

fingers crossed y'all!

i'll post any progress i can get, and, speaking of progress, i actually posted stuff on the HOH thread for once, yay!

Gotta go prepare for the football game tonight now, might be our 45th straight win....

geez.dry.png

hope to post again soon! happy.png

Howdy guys! Hope y'all are doin' well enough.

Got a big update tonight, so buckle up for a HUGE picture dump. (me thinks it's about 20)

Well, let's get right to business!

First up:

Nearly finished with the two veterans, save for the plasma, power sword glow(i hate what i did to the blades atm...), and probably another try at the eyes.

Because they straight up suck.

Do you guys think the blood is overdone? i kinda like how slathered in the good 'ole gore they are, as it makes sense for space marines who are consistantly cutting through ~T3 infantry, in swathes... but it may just seem a bit... gaudy, or overbearing?... thoughts welcome!

i'll get to these guys' background and such whenever they get legitimately finished and posted in the HoH thread.

Also, today is a special day.

I'd like to take a second to personally thank all of y'all who've stuck with me from the beginning, up until today, the 1st birthday of this thread! I know that my stuff isn't the most prestinely painted or well photopgraphed, but it means a lot to this kid who's put his best into it that y'all would humor me with your attention. THANKS SO MUCH!!! biggrin.png

In honor of that little landmark, i've managed to finally finish the first squad i'd started here on the WIP thread...

Behold, Kav-Rodina Sahlva, now finally finished after a year of sitting around, being stripped of paint, knocked off tables, or killing tyranids and cultists in my enemies' backfield after deep striking perfectly. Every time.

Slam my work if ya gotta, i got hide thicker than adamantium anyway! laugh.png
