Woah...the last one with the spear is my favourite. He is absolutely unbelievable awesome. In fact so awesome, that i will built him as an assaultmarine for the wardens. Thx for the inspiration.

By the way; leave his helmet damaged. Makes him even more menacing. And call him odin;)

You honor me brother! i cannot wait to see him and i'm glad that i can be of help to your fantastic wardens!

Hahaha, he's missing the entire upper right of his helmet! i don't even know if an astartes can survive that!   Odin it is, and ever shall be!

Squad looks great, favorite has to be eviserator dude. So menacing and awesome.

thank you, i appreciate the input!  That eviscerator was quite a struggle to repose, no matter how i tried there was a huge gap between the left arm and hand on the chainsword haft, but i'm happy with the way he turned out and glad you liked him!

Thanks y'all for lookin', can't ever say it enough!

Afternoon y'all, hope you're having a nice day!

Got a little work done on the knights over the weekend, as well as some xeno filth but that isn't what's important here, now is it? msn-wink.gif

got my airbooth reset up and situated once more, so i got straight to work priming and undercoating, then set about doing bases for the lot of them,

for the assault marines, tacticals, and apothecary:

and the dread-talon:

the lads themselves:

and a little rough/sloppy test for a possible freeblade scheme, i've been twiddling my thumbs on the one i started ages ago because i wanted to design my own parts for it and print them, so i keep putting it off.....lemme know if the scheme is a little mainstream or whatever, i want something striking and that contrasts well with the primary brown i have throughout the Tundaran Knights proper.

Oh and i have to get started on a house name and background now too... least to mention the astartes and talon. wacko.png

that's all i got for now, hope to update again soon with a finished piece on base, i'm thinking of starting with a siege marine first, then alternate to assault until i get to the apothecary.

Have a good one y'all! keep up the splendid work as you all always do! biggrin.png

EDIT:: fixed pictures, and also forgot to mention, washed the fire raptor, that's happening. hopefully sooner rather than later. happy.png

Hey y'all, quick update for the weekend, as i don't know how well off i'll be for the next couple of days, getting my wisdom teeth cut out in an hour or two..... wacko.png

On to the stuff;

painting is in progress on the apothecary and a pair of shield marines with plasma guns, all hailing from the 7th great branch, who have the strongest showing and largest number of survivors of all the branch families, and specialize in siege warfare. More on them as i finish them. msn-wink.gif

The Apothecary:

and the plasma toting marines:

all together:

i plan on introducing more special markings for squads, like blue stripes and halved pauldron colors, to add more individualism and interest, as well as give me more to write about when i make their individual bios. (i am planning on making at least a little background story for EVERY single marine i make, after all... i think the goal i set ages ago was like 57-ish??)

Hope to finish them soon, if i feel up to it, hopefully this weekend as i have monday off thanks to Martin Luther King Jr. day, yay!!

Eh. I'll wing it as i go, like most everything i do, hahaha.

Anyway, it's time to go get my mouth cut to ribbons with a chainsword while i'm hyped up on Iho sticks (as well as other unmentionables) and strapped to a chair locked deep within the bowels of an Inquisitors' black ship....

Or something along those lines, lol.

Best of luck to you in all your own endeavors, until next time, brothers and sisters! biggrin.png

Great progress so far. Reminds me that I need Breacher as well

By the way thx for the tip with the white. But I suck at painting white I habe to admit, even with your tipy it just looks meh.

Thank ya much! and yes!! Make breacher marines!! Every marine player needs at least a squad of breachers!! (i recommend trying to make your own though, it'd fit the theme of your army better than the ones FW makes. msn-wink.gif )

Anytime brother! Practice makes permanent! Keep at it!

well, i got out of the dentists office not too worse for ware, the meds kept me down most of the day, but i got out there and managed to finish the first breachers and the squads' apothecary, so without delay, let's get to it!

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Rodina Rakev:: 7th great branch:: designate_Vekira-II-VII

To have been awarded a rank among the Vekira was both an honor and a death sentence in the 7th great branch. An elite core of exactly 33 brothers directly under order of the branches' Virah, these bloodied veterens were sent directly into the jaws of every hellhole that demanded the deployment of elite breaching teams that knew no failure, and to that end, there were none better in the entirety of the chapters' arsenal than the Vekira. Armed with some of the best wargear available to the branch, devastating plasma guns, the scything teeth of the Mekava class assault cannon, heavy breaching charges, grenade harnesses, and the ever inviolate breaching shield, each member of the Vekira utilized their knowledge of centuries of disciplined fighting to deliver their wrath upon enemy emplacements and defend heavily contested objectives.

Now, with the chapters' undoing at the hands of the corrupt council of 13, the need for assault teams skilled in procuring objectives aboard enemy ships during raids is unending, and the Vekira of the 7th great branch stand ready under their Virah, they will hold nothing back against the fools who would see their family dead.

Brother Seda Cisar, "the burning wrath"

prepared for all situations, Cisars' tactical acumen is exploited to its' fullest potential by his squad-mates, when called upon for aid, the marines' sharp eyes are never found wanting. Cisar is armored in a variety of power armor marks, as has become necessary for the survivors of Ghorenia, and carries into battle upon his shield an assault plasma rifle of Tundaran manufacture, and a hand axe for when the energy coils need to be cooled and the enemy closes in. atop his power plant, Cisar carries a frag assault launcher, perfect for clearing confined corridors of lightly armored foes.

also of note:

- a common tradition among the Vekira is the bearing of a painted face-plate, passed down from brother to brother since the creation of the elite fighting force, no two helms share the same marking, and each tells a story of its' own. Cisars' is the mask of burning wrath, traditionally worn by brothers armed with flame based weaponry, Cisar opted to use a plasma gun instead for its' greater armor piercing capability, to better settle his personal vendetta against the Lucens Equo.

-The foundation of his hatred for the Fire Stallions chapter, Cisar wears a mechanical facsimile of a left leg, having lost it to a sergeant of the chapters' 4th company, it has become a common sight to see him walk with a slight limp as the tiny actuators of his leg are often put under heavy strain in his deployments with the Vekira.

Brother Konick Tichon "The emperor of loss"

Konick Tichon is a malevolent force within the Vekiras' second squad. Soft spoken, distant, and terse when spoken to, yet contradictory in his actions with others as he consistently goes out of his way to aid his fellow breachers during their deployment at the slightest need of aid. Tichon was always a caring and somewhat soft hearted astartes, comparable to the salamanders chapter in his empathy with the weak, this feeling crossed over to his fellow battle-brothers as well, where his protective nature saw that many of his squad-mates were kept from the brink of death under his careful watch and cover fire.

It wasn't until the tragedy at Ghorenia that he earned his place among the Vekira, where he and his squad were tasked with crippling an enemy Inquisitorial warship so as to ensure the escape of several Tundaran Knight allied troop transports. After losing most of his brothers in the push to the command center, Tichon alone stood bloody and victorious on the bridge of the Loyalist craft. Grievously wounded and alone, Tichon placed his dead sergeants' melta charges onto the command console, then set about dragging the corpses of his 7 brothers back to the squads' stormraven, and piloted the wounded assault-craft through enemy lines and back to the strike cruiser Machryas' sorrow. His actions earned him the honor of a place among the breacher elite, where his compassion carries through despite the harrowing guilt of losing his brothers.

also of note:

-Tichons' mask, "the emperor of loss" is a fitting title, worn by those who have seen much of the true nature of war and witnessed many of their kin fall in the heart of battle. Never again will he allow himself to outlive his brothers, he has determined to ensure his kin, his chapter, continue to live on, even if he must sacrifice himself to do so.

-Tichon makes use of a master-crafted plasma gun, a gift from his Virah upon earning his spot among the Vekira, the weapon has seen many long centuries of service, and has yet to critically overheat in all those long years of use by the chapter since its' forging long ago.

-in addition to the grenades at his pauldron, Tichon wears a grenade harness on his power plant, the perfect tool for destroying groups of enemies from extreme distance while maintaining a blistering hail of plasma fire.

Apothecary Zast Lekarnik "keeper of the reapers' due"

The oldest serving member of the Vekiras' second squad, Lekarnik is a breed above the rest, with a quartet of service studs lining his brow, two of which he served as junior apothecary in the Virahs' command squad, much like his compatriots of the Vekiras' sister squads. The apothecary takes to his position with extreme reverence and respect, and honors his brothers with his presence and level headed combat expertise. His position is one of a symbiotic relationship with the squad, as is necessary in all of the Vekira, whilst his brothers protect him in their advance into the enemies' heart, Lekarnik pays back his due when the worst happens and a brother falls.

also of note:

-Lekarnik is armed with a plasma pistol he has carried since first entering service in the 7th branches' assault squad, and a Dunavar blade, a unique powered blade exclusive to the armories of the Tundaran Knights that exhibits qualities much like the rare force weapons found in the hands of librarians. These modified blades make the most of the pseudo psychic abilities of many in the chapter, and can levy a significant killing blow with minimal effort.

-a significantly gifted psyker among his brothers, Lekarnik has the capability to manifest not one, but a flock of familiars, almost always in the form of crows, which not only maintain a vigilant watch over his squads' members, but also allow the breacher team to quickly identify targets and objectives at an astonishing rate.

-the halved gold pauldron is a mark of honor earned by serving 50 years in the 7th branches' apothecarion.

-Lekarniks' narthecium has often been used in close combat against enemies in addition to on his brothers, in the sprawl of melee, the apothecary is always a warrior first, and savior second.

Please feel free to give feedback on the paintjobs (positive or negative, i don't care is i get a bit of helpful criticism!!), i know it isn't the neatest highlighting job ever, but i can't ever say i didn't try my hardest!

Also, which type of pictures do you guys prefer, the darker ones or lighter?? i like the lighter ones for the detail, but they kinda wash out the colors, and the darker ones maintain that, but at the loss of some of the detail... wacko.png

Anyway, hope y'all enjoyed the work, i'm going to hopefully put in a good amount on the rest of the squad soon...

3 down, three to go! Thanks for looking y'all! biggrin.png

These guys look great, especially the apothecary. Only suggestion I have is to drill out the plasma barrels. And once again great background.

i can certainly drill out the barrels, i'll get to that once i've finished the squad. happy.png

Thanks for the input! it's greatly appreciated! biggrin.png

Hey y'all!

i hated looking at all this:

so.....

man, i can see why that is called a difficult kit to make, geez. wacko.png all i need to do is fill in a bunch of gaps, and convert the hell out of it to make it fit the army theme, make a base, then she's ready for paint! can't wait to see her in the field!

Also, i got a second stormguppy to build, and i need some ideas for conversions to do... any input our sources would be much appreciated! i do already plan on flipping/ extending the tail as i did previously, just need a new way to alter the guns and anything to the cockpit if i choose to mess with it like dreadtalon... i'll start tinkering with it sometime!

next, another member of the infiltrators of the 4th great branch, bond brother to Tohra Krouzak of the 6th squad.

name is TBD.

The drone is for his scenic base, which i need to actually find a donor for..... hmm.

hope to update again next week if i can manage any more progress, have a good one y'all!

Hey y'all, quick update.

as i'll be out of town for the rest of the weekend, (going to PAX south!!) i wanted to put in some work on the hobby, so, i made my second stormtalon conversion:

i may end up trying to add another set of wings as the first talon, or of similar fashion, and i'm also thinking about altering the mount pose so that it looks like it's hovering so that it can unload into some poor sods with unrelenting fury. devil.gifdevil.gif

conversions include:

cutting apart and rearanging the tail to make the body more streamlined

custom dual-twin linked assault cannons mounted on the side ports (made using spare bits, the talons' cannons, and a stormravens' turret cannons

nose mounted twin linked lascannon taken from the front nosepiece of a stormraven kit

extra detailing bits around the body

dreadnought sarcophagus mounted into the cockpit

several wing mounted missiles

and here she is next to her counterpart:

as always i'm open to comments suggestions and critiques, the input helps a lot!

that's all for now, see y'all later! happy.png

Howdy Y'all!

Quick update. Got some progress on the first stormtalon conversion:

Tried something new with the brown, instead of layering on the lighter color over the base as normal for the infantry, i went for a drybrush to help attempt to keep the overall coats even. It also makes the whole piece look more weathered and i quite like it! biggrin.png

just need to do the secondary color highlights, apply zenithal highlights on the brown, and do detailing, then she's as good as done.

Anyway, i'll maybe pop in again tomorrow with any more progress i possibly make.

hope to post again soon!! have a good evenin'!! happy.png

Saweet!! These are going to be nice when painted up.

What hushrong said.

Aww, thanks guys! I appreciate ya!!!! laugh.png

Cool stuff!

Btw what did you use for that blue- i mean apothecary and crew shoulder and stripe on shields, before highlighting more towards turquoise?

Thanks fer lookin' brother!

The blues are all done with a basecoat of Stegadon Scale Green, washed heavily in Nuln Oil, then layered with Sotek Green. After that i wash again with Nuln Oil to fix any mistakes, and highlight with fenrisian gray, and zenithal highlights of slaanesh gray. Hope that helps!

VIIth great branch air support

Modified Khodra pattern stormtalon "Vyla Lokyn" The fringe hunter, slayer of sons

The skies above Roshen were a mess of engine exhaust and falling ash, riddled with tracer fire and the falling ruin of broken aircraft tumbling out of the sky. Amongst the chaos of thefighters bombers and escorts, a hunter cloaked in soot and shadow preyed upon them all from the edges of the battlefield proper, picking off the injured and devouring those that strayed too far away from their kind.

Wreathed in plumes of fire and billowing smoke, the xeno interceptor spun out of control, exploding into a ball of hellfire as its‘ soft airframe crumpled into the rocky crags of the mountainside and its‘ engines detonated. Following it, thrusters screaming, a pair of thunderbolts tumbled from side to side, their pilots heaving on the yokes of their controls as the last splinters of light and flak streamed by from their fallen prey. Breathing hard, Amon screamed delightedly into the vox reciever strapped under his helmets‘ rebreather,

“Holy throne! Brax, did you see that?“

His transmissions were shoddy as expected in a battlefield, but the grainy response of his wingman came through well enough.

“Ya just got lucky, don’t let it go to your head!“ Brax replied, obviously jealous, pulling his fighter up from behind Amons‘ Thunderbolt.

The pair of imperial jets gunned their thrusters and wheeled about, evening out as they drew up next to one another in the complicated maneuvers typical of the imperial navy. Their pursuit of the Tau craft had led them far from the rest of their squadron, who had been engaged in the desperate fighting taking place to the north near Roshens‘ hive capitolis.

Amon assessed the state of his craft, and seeing the sorry state it was in, made it known to his comrade that he was considering returning to friendly airspace, it would be nearly 5 minutes toll on the engines to return to the fight, and his own aircraft had already taken a beating. His Thunderbolt trailed smoke from its‘ left engine from a soft clip on the air intake, and the lascannons mounted in the nose were all but destroyed from another strafing shot from their query, Braxs‘, on the other hand, was all but unscathed.

“I can see what you mean, Amon, you head back to the airstrip and i’ll report to the squad lead when i get into vox range, unless he got his sorry arse blown to pieces already.“ Brax chuckled, he turned his head to look out the cockpit at Amon through the canopy glass,

“See you at base, partner.“ He said, bringing up his hand to wave.

Before either of them had a moment more, two spears of light shot from straight above scorched their way through the cockpit of Amons‘ fighter, vaporizing the controls and blowing the entire craft apart in a shower of debris and smoke. The explosion shook the unprepared Brax and sent his plane rocketing out of control as the control yoke momentarily tore itself from his grasp. Brax swore loudly, righting himself and jerking his head upwards into the clouds as he attempted to make visual contact with the target that brought Amon to a swift and unheralded end.

A moment later, he got what he wanted.

From nowhere a banshees‘ shriek exploded in his ears as static streamed across his control panels, the clouds seemed to recoil in all directions as the enemy craft continued its‘ nosedive descent relentlessly through the smog choked air. With a whine, the hunter opened up with its' assault cannon and rounds spat from the whirling cannons in its‘ nose turret, causing Brax to jerk his plane to the side and accelerate as fast as his engines would allow to avoid losing his tail fin. Cold sweat ran down his brow and he swore again, “Oh throne, holy throne of terra, what in the emperors‘ forsaken name.....“

The agile hunter caught up to Braxs‘ fleeing fighter all too easily, it approached, it’s guns eerily silent, bounding like an animal from left to right on powerful retro thrusters before pulling up to par with the Thunderbolt much as Brax and Amon had done moments before. Brax got a good look at what had him in its‘ clutches.

His eyes widened as they locked with those of the other pilot, a half god, half machine that glared at him with a cold curiosity, like a cat playing with a mouse. Brax Broke into hysterics. This was too fast. What the hell just happened? he thought.

As the assault cannons mounted in the nose pivoted in their housing and began to spin, tears streamed down Braxs' face, and he whimpered softly into his vox.

“ throne save me.....“

A note on the Khodra Pattern StormTalon:

Developed by the adepts of the Mechanicus belonging to the Gharahad star system in secret, The Khodra represented a rare step forward with technology. Based on spliced together data gathered from multiple fragmented STC designs integrated into the standard Stormtalons' design, the result was a bastard child that not only proved much more agile, but easily capable of stringent, taxing maneuvers at high altitude nearly unmatched in the standard Stormtalons' own design. In addition to its' greater range of movement at high speeds, the modified, slimmed down weapons loadout allowed for the lighter airframe to maintain a high threat level to mobile targets, the smaller twin linked assault cannon turret, though with a lower ammunition capacity, still kept its' deadly accuracy and range of motion. In addition a pair of lascannon mounted on the central body provide valuable stopping power, especially when followed by a barrage of Dylax interceptor missiles and a trusted hunter killer. This rare variant was only ever produced in handfuls by the forge world of Ghar-primus, and all examples produced were given to the systems' warden astartes chapter, the Tundaran Knights.

This particular model has been recently modified further to accommodate the needs of the Tundaran Knights chapter in their most dire times of need, prior to the forgeworlds' censure for relations to the astartes chapter, 4 Khodra pattern Stormtalons were modified to accommodate the bulky systems of of a dreadnought sarcophagus, allowing injured astartes to continue their service to the chapter despite crippling injuries.

Vyla Lokyn:

The Stormtalon designated Vyla Lokyn was the very first of the experimental Khodra pattern Stormtalons produced by the Gharahad systems' mechanicus forges, and since its' entry into the chapters' formidable air cadre, it has proven to be a distinguished dog fighter and strike craft in its' own right. Its' first pilot, known only as ancient Rhykiaz, served in the chapter for many centuries, remaining a pilot out of choice and respect for his esteemed kill tally among the 7th great branch. It wasn't until he was grievously injured while repelling boarding actions with his brethren during the tragedy of Ghorenia that his service had seemed to come to an end.

It was not to be though, as his brothers, desperate to keep as many of their kin battle ready as possible, brought him half interred into a dreadnoughts' sarcophagus, to the adepts of mars. It was here that the first Khodra pattern Stormtalon was again modified to fit the now half dead astartes, who lost all of his limbs, half his face, and most of his sanity in the grafting process to the ship. Now Rhykiaz is deployed by the Tundaran Knights when enemy airpower is exceptionally difficult to deal with, here, the murderous pilot puts his renown skills to work once more, ever increasing his kill tally.

Black Templar or Red Hunter

I read up on the Hunters, and they fit perfectly! Dunno how i'll paint a skull..... but i'll definitely try! Thanks for looking!

You have absolute nailed that Assault marine, given me a massive inspiration boost and confirmed something I suspected about the Raptors kit. Cheers for that, dude.

The sense of speed and ferocity in that miniature really is something.

Thank you so much! It's really an honor that my little plastic men can inspire somebody, especially guys like you who are exceptionally gifted in the hobby!

Reading all this just made my day. biggrin.png

As always you guys, thanks for taking a look! I appreciate it greatly!

Yeah I have to agree on the Red Hunter, that splash of color will make your base pop. Plus it's not a nobel Templar then ;).

Great job on the model too, it's a nice blend of bits that sells the fallen look but isn't quite as over the top as your straight up raptor kit.
