Epistolery Cerna Ohen

“Warden of souls”

The Space marine stared in silence as the Stormraven pulled itself out from the clearing in which it had landed, its’ trio of Stormtalon escorts pulled in from their short range sweep to follow the gunship as it ferried its’ payload to their next target. Satisfied, Ohen turned away from the rocky perch in which he had observed the spectacle of the bulky craft pulling itself up in the air, and walked back to his brothers, tabard billowing in the evening breeze.

The Librarian sighed inwardly after stepping into the landing zone in which he and his kin had arrived. He widened his already considerable gait after noticing the sound of stifled shouts and screaming, it seemed that there were still a few interlopers who had noticed the stolen xenos lander his men had commandeered.

No matter, he thought, the issue should be resolved by now.

Reaching out with his mind, the psyker gleaned the whereabouts of his kin, several were unnecessary to look for, as the whirring of chainblades was audible to his real senses. He called out to them, a rolecall of sorts, and awaited their responses.

Hrana was first to return, walking unhurriedly into the corpse covered field, he placed a finger to his brow in salute to his old friend and comrade. Following close behind was Hranas’ loyal shadow, the mind addled Jehnek. His power claws, left unactivated, were smeared in the ichor of tau innards, and gently held in one hand, the helmet of a pathfinder dripped audibly. Husaran had never left, perched like a gargoyle on the top of the xenos lander, the space marine truly resembled a creature of avian descent, a notion Ohen had entertained numerous times in their time together. The demi-god let out a chorus of clicks through the vox speaker mounted in his baroque, beak like helm, and dropped heavily, crunching his clawed feet down into a still squirming pathfinder, collapsing its’ chest.

“Epistolary, my apologies for allowing the others to go out so far unchecked.” Hrana bowed his head slightly. “Ardryah and Skoda will return with haste.”

“No need, dear brother, the Equos’ air support has left, along with the Chaplain. They leave behind a prime target for a resupply run. A single squad and a dreadnought cover their weakest points.” Ohen replied.

He looks around once again at the corpse stained field, uninterestedly, “I’ve already informed the captain of the situation, and he concurs that our first target is a preferable one, between the Tau and the imperials that infest the planet, the militarum and the Stallions prove to be much easier prey. I simply worry that attacking the imperials may just break them entirely and allow the xenos to sweep through the area, intel speaks of a surplus of warsuits in their armouries…”

he trails off as the remainder of the assault squad arrive, their booted footfalls crunching fallen tree limbs and shorn armor without prejudice.

“Brothers, good to see you’ve returned safely, I see it that the rabbits did not escape the fox?” Their chainblades were evidence enough, but their short nods reaffirmed his assumption.

“Hrana, go prepare to unfasten Porozkys’ restraints, inform him of the situation and implore him to keep silent as best he can.” Ohen smiles sadly, “at least as best a dreadnought can…. The rest of you, prepare to move on Cur-point, we remove the Tau first, then take the compound as necessary.”

His kin confirmed their orders and dismissed themselves, always alert for enemy stealth teams patrolling the area, and Ohen once again returned to the outcropping overlooking the approach to the mountain hiding Cur-point. The burning trees and blackened, soot covered earth unable to conceal the large compound walls as the forest once had.

Ohen could feel the anticipation from his kin, and to be truthful, he was beginning to feel on edge as well.

Not long now, he thought, not long now….

The Stallions easy pickings ? for shame!!!tongue.png

haha, we'll see how it goes, i plan on running a scenario on the table top to represent the battle, and will create the narrative after i see what happens.

in fact a pre game rundown:

Tundaran Knights-

Venerable dread, chainfist (gorefist!!) and Plasma cannon, preffered enemy marines

Librarain, Lv2, force weapon, malefic summoning (combat familiars) and pyromancy. ignores perils

5 vanguard veterens with 2 flamers and 4chainswords, power sword and melta bombs

Lucens Equo-

7 man tactical squad, sergeant with power weapon/ combi melta, plasma gun, rhino with twin storm bolters

dreadnought with assault cannon and cc weapon

30 guardsman split into 6-5 man fireteams, base. (patrols)

3 autocannon weapon teams,base

probably not so balanced, but that's the point, for the knights, each marine is a kill point, and the sergeant is 2, dreadnought is D3. guardsmen do not count for anything

Stallions, dreadnought is D3, librarian 4, each veteran 1.

I will also be placing a single objective, worth 5 points, in the center of the imperial deployment zone, representing the control center or what have you, to get to the ammunition dump. Gonna be fun!

Anyway, the real reason i'm here...

Erkadia Husaran

"the vulture"

Not much need be said of the man-thing that is Husaran. Another survivor, another broken man, another killer.

During the fall of Midgen, Circa. M39.75, Husaran lost most of his throat and a large portion of his upper torso to a frag missile misfired by the PDF, they'd mistaken him for a member of the Iron Warriors, who had besieged the planet.

It was truly a remarkable sight, watching the demigod pull himself up after a direct hit as if it were nothing, activate his bulky jump pack, leap high into the air, past the stunned mortals, and go soaring past them.

Without a word, the mortals, who'd realized their mistake, were simply overjoyed to have been spared.

At least, until the melta-bomb that Husaran had left them went off.

With no Apothecaries to speak for on-world, Husaran stumbled into the Techmarines' workshop in the center of the compound. The Adept of Mars' pragmatic approach to healing the wound was.... intriguing. after taking a nearby voxcaster, some spare wires, and the sergeants' nod of consent, the techmarine and his servitors set to work.

A mere hour later, most of Husarans' upper torso and throat were plates of metal and a mess of wire.

The resulting aftereffects of having a vox caster grafted into ones' trachea are quite obvious. Before he speaks, the machine lets out a series of mechanical clicks and high pitched whines before anything he speaks can be discerned as normal speech, but alternatively, the ease with which his long range communications are heard is notable.

Since the chapters' purging, Husaran has acquired several more quirks. From perching on ledges and peaks, to stalking prey like a vorpal sea hawk, the oddity that is Erkadia Husaran can only be matched by the strange, broken members of his squad, a match made in the hell pits of war.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

So, if y'all couldn't tell, i didn't write Husaran quite so seriously, i wanted to have a bit of fun with him!

Librarian comes next, since his background is already on here somewhere, i may just copy paste, edit, and add some more for conveniences' sake...

then, come friday or saturday, i'll deliver the results of the battle for Cur-point. Can't wait to share!

y'all have a good one now! happy.png

The Epistolary goes to war.

"Go now, restless dead, and fulfill your purpose in the new life given unto you by my will.

See my enemies join you in the afterlife!"

The summoning process is quite often a painful one, though it differs from individual to individual. For Cerna Ohen, most connected with the trying ways of the warp, the process takes his mortal sight. The ethereal energies force themselves out of drainage holes in his own modified helm, and leak downwards, across his wide chest piece, and down the light blue greaves into the earth itself.

From here, is where The Epistolary of the Tundaran Knights earned his namesake.

Rather than simply create a familiar of a shape and size known to the summoner as his kin, Ohen infuses the warp echoes of souls departed into the summoning process. Dragging up old and crusted bones, the swirling energies take their on the shape of formless wraiths, with daggers the color of blood. bent entirely to his will, and control over his powers as a psyker, the Epistolary can bring forth a legion of screaming banshees with lethal intent that can pull down even a mighty space marine in their sheer ferocity and numbers.

Of note:

-the obvious leaking warp-fluid coating the front of his armor and hands

-the modified force trident held at the ready, capable of channeling his psychic potential

-runic markings on the left pauldron

- a servo skull used as a surveillance, sending a feed of video directly to Vrah Kostin in case the Librarian becomes compromised.

Very Cool Librarianthumbsup.gif , he must be hunted and put down.devil.gif

ohoh, them's fightin' words!

Lets' see how your Death Spectres' kill team'd respond to this then?

names have yet to be determined, and they're all waiting on bases. might make a 5th to round out a demi squad.

went out shopping for some small plastic square rod and 1/32 round plastic tubing (for reasons that will be obvious), and found a hobby store that sold Kromlech and Maximini bits, well, one could guess what's to follow....

first up, tomahawks?!

next, blade runner. literally.

i must admit, i've always wanted to do that pose...

now, time to get destructive:

the sharp eyed may notice that the foregrip on the minigun is actually part of a librarians' staff.... huh.png also, tomahawks again, it will be a thing in this chapter, so help me

god Emperor.

Lastly, and possibly my favorite:

he's actually been truescaled, i want him to be one of those "bears amongst men" types who can manhandle other marines no problem, like this poor tank pilot here. (who will probably have more trailing wires and such to make his partially severed arm look more like a bionic.) also, custom bolter, because drum mags need to be beefier when dealing with rpg/bullets.here's

a size comparison:

so, who's y'alls' fav? tomahawk, ninja, max pain, or terminator? biggrin.png

(oh and Deathspectre, i expect some retaliation! Let's see what you loyalist pansies got?! tongue.png)

That's all for now, gotta StormRaven to paint!

Have a good night y'all! laugh.png

Give me some time I have to finish about 50 Marines but I have a Chapter that will answer the call. One never seen before on the BnC.

PM me when ya start posting 'em so i don't miss it! Can't wait!

All of them look really cool! I think "Blade Runner" is my favorite though. Fantastic poses on them!

pose was stolen from a manga called Break Blade. highly recommended, whether ya like anime mecha stuff or not.

Here's the same mecha, different pose (which i also plan on doing myself, btw!)

glad y'all liked it, thanks again! I'll be posting the Raven later in the morning. happy.png

hope y'all liked! I'm off to my friends' place to do some gaming now, first game will be me against 'crons...wacko.png

I like the blade runner and upscaled stabby guy (ninja and max pain?) the most. Painting looks great, nice group shots.

Thanks a lot for the input! I finished a 5th man to round out the demi-squad quite nicely just now, hope ya like him too!

he's a simple kitbash, no face slashing or mega changes and alterations, and the pose was really fun to discover too!

I do have summer band practice starting in 2 weeks, and other obligations as well, so i do hope that i can keep up the pace as best i can while school is still out!

Hey y'all!

the post didn't show up when i put it up this morning, so i guess i'm redoing the lot of it, glad i can recover unsaved word files!

this is the setup for the fall of the outpost Cur point, which has been featured several times in the earlier pages of the thread, the next part will be when the blood flows and boltshells fly... anyway, let's get going!

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

The fall of Cur-point, part 1

Tactical squad Xederic of the Fire Stallions 4th company had initially been reluctant in lending their aid to Cur points defenses, typically used to shock and awe confrontations, siege warfare sat poorly with the descendants of the great Khan. But, with their departure path from the defensive compound blocked off by the xenos, for better or for worse, the situation made it obvious that there could be no disagreement with sergeant Darus when he made the decision to dig in along with the mortals. Just one of many simple mountainside outposts and ammo-dumps, Cur-point wasn’t unique in any ostentatious way, save perhaps, for the demigods that had come to watch over its’ miniscule existence.

It was simple happenstance that some of the Taus’ most aggressive leads were in command of the forces moving on Cur-point, but the arrival of 10 gods of war onto the scene made such an obstacle that much more tasteful to chase after and overcome. As hot headed and brash as the Space Marines, the tau commanders of the area redoubled their allocation of troops in their desire to confront humanity’s greatest heroes, and slake their thirst for immortal blood…

The assault on the compound took its’ toll in lives, far more than necessary, but still far fewer than would be paid for the belligerence of the xenos and their aggressive advances into Imperial claimed space.

For 10 days the men and aliens fought nonstop in the thick, hazy aftermath of the firebombing that scorched the planet to its’ molten core, and claimed countless lives on a planetary scale. From nearly 350 men at the outposts’ establishment, to fewer than 160 in the final days of the siege, only 63 had survived the final onslaught of xenos warriors and battlesuits as they came prowling up the mountainside, guns blazing. The arrival of the cursed chaplain of the 4th company marked the beginning of the end for the battle for Cur-point, arriving in one of the Space Marines’ signature Stormwing flights, he and his retinue, along with brother ancient Grace, proved to be the turning point in the final confrontation with the Tau, a battle that would lead to the xenos’ pulling out from the immediate area.

With the fighting ended, and the tau offensive stunted, Cur point had taken to the likes of a graveyard. Little noise could be heard bare the shuffling of guardsmen’s boots as they periodically patrolled the walls, there was an occasional cough and spluttering from the wounded, and the whistling wind passed through the crackling and charred mess of woods surrounding the area, leaving a ghostly, mournful air for the dead to rest.

Squad Xederic began the arduous task of finding their missing brethren, and an hours’ time later, stern brother Urik, old man Malkor, and the once bright and cheerful Nass lay in silent repose along the interior of the squads’ Rhino apc, peaceful in death now that their duty to He on earth has come to an end. They would remain this way until the squad could rendezvous with the company Apothecary to retrieve their gene-seed. Once a while, one of the squads would pass by to maintain a vigil, and pay their respects for their comrades in arms, sergeant Darus, though, had little time to reflect on his grievous losses, instead busying himself with the reconstruction of part of Cur-points’ wall section that had collapsed from tau sappers’ plasma mines and sabotage. His mind wandered though, troubled by the consequences of his call to separate the squad into pairs, it had come to the point where he did not even jump at the chance to depart with his squad and the dreadnought to pursue the broken tau forces. Instead ordering those remaining to take short rests, and repair the damages taken in the conflict, he and his men would move out on the morrow, once the area is re-secured and its’ men capable of standing on their own.

“Tomorrow,” he muttered to himself, looking out from atop the battlements of the compound at the smoldering wastelands of the forest surrounding him.

The dusk light settles and dims further on the deep crevasses of his dented and marred warplate, stained a red orange steel from the radiation tempered ceramite characteristic of his chapter.

He stands there a moment more, before turning away, back into the nighttime, illuminated only by the high towering lights of the compound, and the dying embers of a fire that devoured a planet whole.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

so, either later tonight, or early-ish tomorrow i'll begin showing y'all the first finished Tundaran Knight footsoldiers, including the members of the command squad, sergeants, veterans, and a chaplain to boot! i look forward to showin' y'all what i got!

Part 2 looms on the horizon as well, i really wanna try to block out and refine everythin' best as i can before posting such long passages of work...

Hope y'all liked it, have yourselves a good evenin'! laugh.png

Thanks for fixin' everythin' in such a short time y'all!

Well, I've gotta bit to show for myself since the last update, as in, i gotta catch up on the sternguard pics, so, here they are!

first up, moar plasma!

not sure about how the horns turned out, if y'all got any suggestions on how to change 'em or where to do things different, lemme know, i'd be happy to hear it!

lastly, the walking armoury, the child of the sun.

(not way too keen on the left pad pattern, was sorta aiming for a sun, but i was kinda off my game when doin' the freehand, more to probably fix up later... wacko.png

Also of note, i got myself an 8,000 point 2v2 game tomorrow, this'll pretty much be my last chance to mess around before summer band starts... unsure.png

(sometimes i wish i weren't so into the music and arts program, 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, in Texas heat, with major competition for marching spots, and worst of all, WITH NO PAY?!?! GAH)

Anyway, the game'll be Marines and Guard Vs. Eldar and necrons/imperial knights, and potentially nids to boot (for some odd reason...) i get 3,000, and i plan on toting a full mechanized infantry battle company and the skyhammer annihilation force to punch some face, while my good buddy and ally brings the hurt in the form of 5,000 points of tanks/superheavies/fliers/artillary, gonna be a great game!

this also meant that i needed to get my act together and at least basecoat some more marines, to which, i have gotten myself no less than 48 marines of various denomination, a dreadnought, and a guardsman squad taken outta the Simple green bath (after a month and a half), cleaned them all, and re-primed and painted in good 'ole vallejo chainmail silver for the stallions.

Good times ahead, time permitting...

Hope y'all liked it, might get the next 2 veterens out before i leave tomorrow morn', hope to see y'all soon. happy.png

have a nice one y'all!

next, the chapter 2nd in command, with a good old skull face implant!

the pauldron detailing was actually supposed to be a winged snake/ hydra, but the picture just SUCKS too much. wallbash.gif

lastly, the Chapter standard/company standard/ standard bearer, whatever ya wanna call him, he's gotta big pole with a shield on it, that's all he needs to know.

really happy with how the standard bearer came out, otherwise he ain't nuthin' special, unless you wanna ding him for not wearing a frakkin' helmet! who in their right mind does that?!

*opens up codex* oh.... never mind.

i'm personally quite happy with how all the chapter symbols turned out as well, i can consistently recreate it by hand with ease! (unlike the freehanded left pauldrons, who's random lines always turn out lacking a bit, need to think more before i draw 'em)

anyway, next time, along with Olsleven Havran and his wonderful glaive,(and the army shots) i've got a really cool surprise to show y'all, lookin' forward to it!

((HINT:: it involves some of my hand drawing and a computer program called Rhino*))

y'all have a good 'un! thanks.gif

This reminds me I've got to get off my tush and work on my Sterngard :/. I love the character you manage to get in each guy. We're especially pleased to see more guys with ballz toting big guns like a boss :D

I know on my chaplain it took me a while trying to get a believable fade from the dark tips to the ivory base on his bull horns with a wet blending technique. Yours looks really good right now so I don't know if I'd do anything to mess with it now that it's done, but if you work on another model I'd try youtubing some tutes on wet blending and then play around on some scraps till you get a look you're happy with.

Oh and try to stay cool out there, it's been rough down south this year!

Get busy on those Templars Andrew!!!

thanks a bunch for the help on the horns, with the quickly dwindling time i've got, they aren't anywhere near the top of my list of things to work on, but someday, when i can afford to be nitpicky and anal about all my junk! laugh.png

Band is going to literally be a burning hell.

Worst part, it starts this Thursday morning...... wacko.png

So that means that not only will i be losing a crap load of my free time in general, but i'm also screwed on hangin' out with my wargaming friends on anytime convenient for the 7 of us together. so no more crazy games with 3 knights, 2 baneblades and a convoy/conga line of 8 5-point twin stormbolter rhinos in the near future. dang.

anyways, my surprise failed to show up, so i'll just post what i've got atm.

first up, The Sightless Raven,

he who sees nothing, yet watches over all.

I absolutely LOVE this model, and i'm personally quite happy with the way he turned out....

So, if there's anything y'all hate/dislike about it, PLEASE TELL ME!! i'd really love to know what i can improve on or change in your guys' eyes for the future!

next up, a stalker and my custom whirlwind piece, as well as some bits and bobs to actually complete the Stallions tac squad i actually have done.

and an army shot of the Knights, in all their glory!

Thanks for lookin'!biggrin.png

Everything is looking really good! I can't wait to read about the sightless!

Thanks a bunch! Havran actually does have a little experimental background in some of the earlier pages, but none of this is permanent fluff wise untill i shift it over to the HoH thread i started a little while ago. speaking of which, i really should start updating that soon....

Looking Ace !!!! great army shot. My sister lives in San Antonio.biggrin.png

thanks for the kind words dsg7, it means a lot!

San Antonio is nice and all, but some of the roads in the city proper are hella hard to navigate! and the water there has quite the metallic taste...

Still a nice place, jealous of their 5 degree cooler weather, 95 always beats 100 when it comes to climate!

on to the update!

Sveratel Kostin has come under quite the amount of problems since bathing him in simple green, the whole situation bodes ill...

for starters, the green putty i used as a filler for joints and the shoulder pad dissolved away, which'll need to be refilled and sanded,

for reference, a before shot:

and now:

then, i lost the screw i drilled into the torso to make the head joint, along with the head itself! (don't ask why i used a screw, it was nearby and i needed something to glue the bottom of the helmet to.)

So repainting him will come later than expected, which sucks.

in brighter news, the other raptor/assault marines came out perfectly fine, so i will be able to finish the squad in the new scheme, eventually.

and i also started slapping paint on some of the silver marines.

a little peek at the commanders of the newest Lucens Equo detachment that will be arriving on planet soon:

I've finally run out of my nuln oil stores (i dunno about y'all, but i use the stuff as much as i use primer!)

but luckily i had enough to cover a tactical squad,5 vanguard vets, 2 commanders, and some various limb pieces and backpacks:

lastly, the green has been blocked out on the stalker/hunter, along with the rest, so hopefully next update can have some finished guys again!

those VV's are going to be quite fun to paint, the number of lightning claws is UNREAL. tongue.png

that's all i've got, hope to post finished stuff again soon,

'till next time y'all, have a good one! biggrin.png
