Some more work done on the Dark Talon Ascalons Ruin. Ive added a bit more midnight blue and the top of the wings are now pretty much done complete with Blood Wings!

I wanted to give this a Night Lords feel without the impractical use of corpses on a fast flyer, So my answer was I need Bat Wings painted in blood!

I am quite happy with how this is turning out as Ive yet to paint on any lighting or Terror markings like dragons bones etc but its starting to feel VIII Legion worthy.

Just ran the numbers on Phase two of the Warband. It looks like currently points make it close to 2000 more points...

I know im breaking my paint before building rule but this guy has been an issue with me selecting the right role for him. He is going to be in a full snow camo cloak as the Sergeant of my Recon Squad.

Ive decided not to go over the top and gave him slight chaos additions and some skulls. Hopefully I can do a good job on the snow camo suit pattern and ill be giving the squad a large white skull/spectre pattern on the helmet to help him blend in with slight Midnight blue showing.

Okay its the return of Lord Zaqar! After the completion of my 1500 points I was very unhappy with how Zaqar looked in comparison, he just didn't have the feel of a leader of a Warband to me he looked like a standard sergeant. So I began reworking the existing model.

Changes so far:

• More Scars to make him look more experienced.
• Skull detail on rebreather as it was to bland before.
• Runes on chest physically carved in (will later be repainted on also)
• Added a small Night Lords icon on the mid section.
• Trophies of judgement replaced and represented with a flayed torso chained to the combat shield.
• Base has been made more dynamic with a steel girder for Zaqar to stand on. (Adding height)

He now stands taller and is bulkier, so carrying himself as a leader I now must start the repainting process.

Now I am unsure to if he needs a cloak be it ragged or skin. Thoughts please ive already gone against a friends opinion Zaqar was fine and don't want to clutter the model up to much.

Hail all,

 

Okay so Lord Praetor Zaqar the Untainted is now 98% done, I am awaiting payday to by Krell The Lord Of Undeath to make Zaqars champion and to steal the axes Night Lord Esc Logo for Zaqars chest (painted on in the mean time). 

 

Ragged Cloak has been added to balance the models look and give a little more feeling of leadership. The Nostroman Runes that say Zaqar have moved to the back of his back pack as it didn't look right on the chest.

My Ramshackle Games order arrived so 3 Squat Termites (count as drop pods) are here to complete my 1500 points force. It also strengthens my Squat armoury muwhaha. Question is do I Night Lord Brand the termites as slaves are still branded by the 8th so would we brand their weapons of war also?

I've settled on adding Squat runes and ill make a brotherhood icon that will sit next to the NL icon. It says 3 Termite (This is 3rs claw's ride) reclaimed ones may just scratch out the number. I hope you like it.

I have sketched up my new improved plan for my squat slaves. I'll be adding a Mantic Games Iron Ancestor to convert into Squat Heavy Exo Armour and the new Forgefather Dreadball MVP the Excavator will replace my Guild Engineers Servitor count as Dwarf Mechanics (ill probably move these guys to tank riders). I'll be converting a Deathstrike tank into a Termite Carrier Tank which will serve as the Engineer Retinues dedicated transport . So that's the plan for the Squats mapped out.

First here is the Reclaimed Termite of the falled 2nd Claw now that of 5th Claw. I scratched out the number marking and did a bloody V.

So they are not all exaclty the same moulds ive added snow effect before painting on 4th Claws Termite covering some of the features you can see on the others.

This is an unexpected entry, when clearing out my Assassins to sell as im now fully VIII Legion committed I came across a Cryo-stasis Drop Pod I made for an Eversor Assassin. It wasn't complete so ive finished the snow/ice and weathering. It will make a good objective marker!

Im now really aware how poor the lighting in my bedroom is and wont use the photobox in there again as all light (white/bone) colours show none of their depth. Hopefully have Zaqar finished soon as payday is soon and Krell shall be mine!

Looks like painting will be a drag for a while due to a 6 day working week this week and a real lack of motivation to get on with the terror squads (or anything else for that matter).

 

I am hopping it picks up soon as 13 Feb is Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate's release date and ill be hooked on that video game and then the lure of Star Wars Armada is great...

 

Hopefully a few conversions should provoke me starting next week.

He is awaiting some Greenstuff work and my order of plasticard to arrive so I can make Cataphractii style shoulder pads for him and 3 others.

I have gone against standard rules of capes and decided that he needed one to make him look more important as a keeper of the Warband and Legion history.
