Maybe the Herald / Sanguinor was the short haired stylized guy standing in as needed perhaps...

I also like the idea of fancy wigs etc keeping the roots mysterious I suppose.

Blonde, Black, White hell he could be a ginger for all we know =).

Perhaps he can force the perception of his appearance like the Emperor to suit his audience n stuff.

Dig that artwork, looking forward to this volume next year.

-someone from years past (can’t find the quote but it’s on these very forums) quoting one of the FW writers as saying Sanguinius will be a FMC...who can charge out of Swooping mode :ohmy.:

I think that was just part of our big wishlisting/ design his rules thread from a while back :biggrin.:

The Destroyer Host is really cool, if done right could turn me right back onto BAs for the Heresy.

This was confirmed in one of the HH books - Sanguinius has that property that the Emperor has where people see what they wish to see, just on a limited scale, and seemingly only affecting his hair.

I cannot remember which book, probably Forgotten Empire.

In addendum:

Destroyers are probably my favourite HH unit bar none. If the rumours are improved destroyer rules + a BA destroyer Rite, then count me in.

With the info on the Destroyer Host, and the name drop of the Host of Sacrifice, I'm wondering if we are organised similarly to the Dark Angels in that regard, with some specialised formations or roles spread between or drawing from chapters/companies/squads or if the Hosts are an entity in and of it's self like the 40K Death company.

I'm not sure if i want this book for both the rules and lore, or more for the lore

Sounds more like they are trying to make the 40k split between DC, regular Marines and SG/Archangels just in 30k flavour rather than something like the Dark Angels split. Sounds pretty cool tho....but I'm really only waiting for the Sanguinius model and that's it. :P

Hopefully there should be no DC, maybe the host of sacrifice is the SG, since i remember mention in the open day thread that they are a larger formation than the novels let on.

A possible two elite full sized with the host of sacrifice and the 1st chapter and information on how the BA deal with postings to the Destroyer Squads and with it being called out specially for us it seems to be a thing unique to the BA's. i'm thinking an up to a year wait might be too long.

Same really, ever since I started looking at the Heresy I loved the destroyers!

I'm hoping we get a special unit as opposed to a rite of war, as even if they were dedicated troops, paying 75pts a unit for jump packs is just too expensive and Rad missile launchers (while cool as heck) suffer from being only AP3 and a small blast.

But it's also why I'm sad the DA are delayed, need that Dreadwing in my life.

I wouldn't mind some fancy FW Sanguinary Guard to use in 40k either.

I’m curious if Sanguinary Guard are the only-30-of-them Elite of the Elite as they are in 40k, or its more like couple hundred strong Primarch’s personal company.

I know it wasn’t explicitly said, but from reading “Fear to Tread” I’d guess it’s only a handful of the elite like it is in 40k. That’s just what I inferred while reading.

I would take "Fear to Tread" as a very thin guideline these days.

Like many of the older books in the series it doesn't quite link up with what FW are doing and will probably have a few bits retc-conned (much like the early Dark Angels novels).

Remember the 40k Sanguinary Guard are mostly based around Azkellion's preferred load-out, so we have lots of scope for it to be different.

Angels of Caliban seems to imply that it’s a fairly small force, akin to a personal guard of like 50ish dudes (they never state a number, but what they do in the novel seems to suggest that). Especially since

so many of them get taken out by a single explosion thanks to Curze
.

Ruinstorm doesn’t provide any insights since they are talked about in vague terms...though that seems to be David Ananndale’s thing in general.

I don’t know, obviously. I’d have a hard time accepting a chapter sized “personal guard”. If you think of them in those terms then it’s hard to imagine them being the most elite veterans. I’m more comfortable with the 50ish figure. But hey, who am I to say? If you want to assume it’s 100s then go right ahead. I mean we could always get Guy Haley’s opinion. He regularly answers questions like that on Twitter.

I don't think any one has assumed it will be a few hundred strong, but if we go by other Legions they could be a larger formation than we previously thought, Russ has an entire great company of body guards to draw from either for himself or to loan out to other great companies, Mortarion has nine? that guard him personally, but they also work with other companies within the legion. pretty much the same for all the other legions but the Iron warriors.

All we have seen in the fiction are the ones that personally guard Sanguinius, the formation could be larger and the name Sanguinary Guard name could be a hold over from the tribe The Blood.

we don't even know what a host is yet other than Destroyers are one and there is one called the host of sacrifice

From a teaser for FW's Book 8: Malevolence....apparently from the Twitch stream. No real other useful information, apparently.

Also, I guess this is the cover for Malevolence (wow....look at the deamony warp storm thingy in the background!)
