---- January ----

Happy New Year!

Welcome members of the heresy subforum to the first Casual 30K hobby challenge of 2015. Get lots of forgeworld goodness for Christmas? Trying to make those new year's resolutions to paint on a regular basis? Crave competition to pull you through a dismal January? Then you are in the right place!

The aim is simple - to give you a single place to post your newly painted models for your 30K armies, and provide a big heap of encouragement, with a healthy dose of competition.

To join in you make a hobby pledge for the month, and this contibutes to either the Loyalist or Traitor cause. There are two competitions:

1. Pledges - Loyalists and Traitors compete on completed pledges over the month. The more completed pledges the more points you win. You can make a second pledge only once the first is complete, and in doing so you risk your first pledge. That's right - pledges are all or nothing - complete your vows or live in shame. I rergained my honour in December, as did the majority of the loyalist team - are you up to it?

2. Scores - Every model you pledge to paint is worth points. Once you finish the model and show us you earn points for your faction. These are always safe, so there is always an incentive to keep painting! The scroes are as follows -

Scores

Infantry - 1 point;

Large Infantry (termies, bikes, rapiers without crew etc.) - 2 points;

Monstrous infantry - 3 points;

Vehicles - 6 points;

Lord of War (including Primarchs)- 10 points.

At the end of the month I'll tally up the points and pledges to see who wins.

Simple? After three months the Loyalists are ahead 2-1, with a crushing victory in December. The Traitors are doing great work though, they just need more bodies!

I'll try to post regular updates, so we know the teams, and how things are shaping up. Last month was really successful, so I'd encourage you all to check out some of the completions in December's thread, and my post-mortem of the month (once I get round to writing it!).

So brothers and sisters, for the Emperor or for Horus, let see some pledges!

I Kor'Vesh, being of sound mind and body, and being possessed of a zeal for painting, pledge to complete Vulkan, Primarch of the Salamanders, a legion graviton rapier (no crew just yet) and a Salamanders legion apothecary in the month of January.

In Vulkan's name!

I, Slipstreams, of Sound mind and Body, of Lean Wallet, And procrastinator tendencies do vow to finish AT LEAST one Cataphractii Terminator with Heavy Flamer for March of the Legions and this Casual Hobby Challenge. Should all proceed as planned, yet more may join the fight under the Loyalist Banner; especially those of Yellow Coloring.

I, StruManChu, being of fewer and fewer tiny men to paint (yes, even after Christmas), do solemnly vow to complete 1 Master of Signals, 4 Breacher Marines and 5 Cataphractii Terminators for my Loyalist Imperial Fists.

For Dorn, and for the Emperor!

I, Ironwrought Huw, arch-procrastinator of the glorious X Legion, sat atop a mound of unpainted resin, do vow to complete one terminator Iron Father. Should I manage to complete this herculean effort, a second (larger) vow may be added... (And given how I've been 'saving' things to work on for this challenge, I hope I do)

Glory to the Tenth!

I, FireGolem, infamous for painting very little, pledge my Contemptor Dreadnaught of the XVIth Legion, the Sons of Warmaster and rightful Emperor Horus.

Can we add stuff later if we finish the pledge, or..? I don't want to over pledge but I do have a bit of spare time currently.

Aaw yeah, Atia is painting salamanders :)

Great to have Atia, fire Golem and Slipstreams back in the game. Stru - you can't run out of fists to paint man, raid your bits box and cobble together a few more dudes if it gets that desperate!

I'll have a late start though, since I'm in Asia till the 9th and class starts back up on the 12th and painting while trying to deal with a 12h jetlagg will not be fun/good for me/the mini :p

But if my previous completions are anything to go by, I should get it done by the 29/30th :p

I will pledge to assemble another 10 men of the VIIth...may not get to paint unless it warms up enough to prime them. Also, if the mail gods prevail I will have another 5-10 guys assembled by the end of the month.

Hoping to make the poses dynamic and full of bling-pouches and 'nades n sheet!

I, Leoric, Servant of the Emperor, pledge to paint 5 Iron Hands Tactical Marines for January.

Back to the saddle again! The last weeks of 2014 went with an illness, which holds me still in his grips - MORTARION!!!!! - and I'm still missing some paint supply, but hey, it's Heresy-Time! Happy new year to everyone!

Can I pledge here - of course later this year - some Imperial Army elements too?

I plan to make a little allied detachment from my Death Korps figures, using the rules in Conquest. I really like the Solar Auxilia figures, but I would'nt want to throw these models out because of the new toys :-)

Here is one fully magnetised and pinned Iron Father, in preparation for undercoating.

The head has already been primed and masked off. I'll be painting him in the funky dark-oily metallic scheme FW do.

Here's my Contemptor built and primed; I am sorry for the awful photos, best I could do on my iPad, don't have a clue how to use the girlfriends camera and she's at work. I was going for the pose like the one on the FW website where it's looking down the gun, but they didn't line up. Fortunately, completely by accident, the legs ended up looking like its shoulder bashing something. I haven't glued (or completely primed) the guns because I might want to change the loadout.

I also built my Reavers, which I might pledge if I finish my Dread;

Again, sorry for the photos...
