Excuses are met with extermination

Kurama, I think you have a future in motivational speaking!

I'll be happy when you've painted some FIRE on him slip tongue.png good job so far though, I'm satisfied.

I would...but... Freehanding flames is just asking for this to turn out more red/orange than green :P

DONSIES!

And no Kor'Vesh, I won't free hand flames onto it. My freehanding in general is already atrocious so I won't attempt flames that require blending too...

Time to write fluff for him for March of the Legions...

By Terra, the first weeks of this year are really hard. Never thought, that so many official BS can fall on one man's head...

But back on topic - I saw all the progress made by you, and I'm now a bit jealous :-) Great miniatures!!!

I managed only to assemble my Iron Hands, they are now waiting for a better weather to get primed.

Fortunately there are nearly 3 weeks left from January to complete my vow.

Welp... I guess that's what happens when you go away for a few days...

Gizur - I can't even begin to wonder what you might not like about your Moritat. I love it. The fact that you've managed to make him looked like he's coated in ash as opposed to just painted grey is amazing. Great stuff...

Jeremy1391 - That's a good looking Strongpoint considering how quickly you turned it around. I wish I had your speed!

zedmeister - If I ever do White Scars, I'll be asking for your white recipe. You've got a really neat, tidy scheme there, and your Alphas look good too.

Kor'Vesh - What can I say? Your Vulkan is superb. You can see the hours that went into him.

MindofMetal - I do like your Orth, but just as much, your ordinary bolter guy looks fantastic! What washes did you use, and how did you do your black?

Atia - Spot on, as ever. Your Sallies are looking really strong. I'm profoundly jealous of your blending skills.

Brother Vidius - You're so relentless and unstoppable, you should be painting Death Guard. I'm seriously impressed mate. Keep it up! I want to see you get everything done.

Raktra - Both your Orth and your Dorran are really characterful, and solid paint jobs. Again, I personally can't see what you're whinging about... msn-wink.gif

OMG - Again, I find my mind boggled by a really smooth black. How did you get it looking so good over such a wide area from a white basecoat?

Kurama - I see no reason why a World Eaters Terminator wouldn't have a giant plasma cannon. If he can vaporise the torso, it's much easier to collect the skull! biggrin.png

Ironwrought Huw - Your Iron Father looks fantastic! The weathering is spot on. So many good-looking Iron Hands this month. Maybe it's a sign...

Slipstreams - Well done on your first completion for the month... (translation - I hope you're not done yet. The Sons of Dorn expect their monthly tithe...)

Despite being away for most of last week, I've not been idle. Everything is built, and as my wife is going away for a fortnight from this weekend, I won't have any distractions! tongue.png

Progress so far...

Let me know your thoughts, brethren and sisteren!

So my WIP RT era landspeeder has some colour on....struggling with this one....I feels Im massively rushing with limited time so stopped before my drybrushing completely ruins the model. Pics on my plog via signature....

...any thoughts....

Strumanchu: It's really simple.  Abaddon black as basecoat, patchy drybrush of leadbelcher over different areas for weathering and battle damage and then a wash of earthshade over everything.

Kor'Vesh: My fully painted army is pretty small so far, considering that I made the mistake of working on three at a time (Iron Hands, Taghmata and Legio Cybernetica).

Everyone else: Need to get going if I'm going to keep up with everyone, things are looking good for January.

Welp... I guess that's what happens when you go away for a few days...

OMG - Again, I find my mind boggled by a really smooth black. How did you get it looking so good over such a wide area from a white basecoat?

Thanks StruManChu:  Actually the white undercoat is my "cheat" to make the inevitable uneven coat to be uneven where I want it.  The slightly thinned darker paint fills the cracks and the underlying white shows through at the outermost edges.  That's just the way that works for me as per how to achieve a more balanced low to highlight contrast w/o trying to build up color with lots of slightly lighter layers.

I wish I could paint up from a black base but my models always turned out dark & muddy.  Painting white itself is my nemesis color!  I can't get a nice gradient shade of grey to save my life.  So my hats off to all you who pull it off so much better than I.

Looking forward to seeing more of your models.  And to everyone - this is a tread that brings a lot of pride to the forum.  Cheers, -OMG

Guys you aren't gonna believe this; I actually did some painting!

Dawnstone, Administratum Grey highlight, and coelia Greenshade wash. The wash is still drying (I've already sorted the bits on the back where it went on a bit strong). The highlights... I haven't quite got them down yet. Some bits are really good and some end up all over the place, but I'm definitely getting better at brush control. I'll see if it needs another wash when this is dry.

Yay Fire Golem! Looks good man, better than my attempt at that scheme a while ago - the marine just went full on green (I'm hoping it was just because the greenshade went right over the light grey primer though!). Show us how it looks when the wash dries :D

Yeah I've already sorted the pooling you can see especially on the back, I'd just already taken the photo :P

And the fingerprints... Are kinda stuck now. They're from when I was building it and managed to superglue every single component to my hand before it was glued to where it was meant to go. I did try to get them off but apparently was unsuccessful. So they're there now, at least until I can be bothered to sand them off, and repaint it. So... They're probably there forever :P

Kor'Vesh - What can I say? Your Vulkan is superb. You can see the hours that went into him.

Thanks man - I appreciate the kind words and encouragement! I'm glad you turned up again with some models too - I was just getting worried that Brother Vidius would ensure the Heretics run away with a big victory this month smile.png Great termies too mate - where are the shields from?

Fire Golem painting! I love to see it. That is a gorgeous model, and a very promising start FG. Be sure to keep us updated, it would be great to see a finished model from you this January!

Here he is with the wash dry - sorry the lights a bit crap, had daylight on my side earlier (well, cloudlight). I'm not sure if he needs another wash, does he look too grey?
