The one I am using is from RS components, and for me it is free. Because it belongs to the office, so I swipe it when aboard andd stick it on my desk.

Not sure what dioptres are, but Maplin have one similar 125mm lens (5 dioptres) instead of the 180mm lens which this one has for about 25 quid with free delivery :)

Otherwise anything up to a few hundred quid.

Lol, they did originally start out life as Chainfists. I got these as part of a trade on Dakkadakka. Originally they were Deathwing, but I sorted that little problem out :smile.:

When they were having a soak to lose the paint, the super glue softened and I lost the majority of the chain blades.

I was quite fed up, and eneded up using some power sword bits and some GK glaive heads to make new chain fists. Now I can feasibly run them as such or as power weapons

They also had shields until the Space Wolves codex nerfed the SS/CF combo.

AnywaysNot much of an update:

I did the black sections of the helms & did some general tidying up.

I also redid the gold on the shoulder guards as most had gotten paint on them and re-did the gold o the chest of 3 terminators.

Used Sycorax bronze for the lades power units.

I got depressed after doing the chests as the new golds in no way match the burnished and shining gold of old. Plus some detail was lost too.

I then repainted all the grey armour and washed in nuln oil, ready for highlighting up again :sad.:

Since that faux pas, I have started to go off them a wee bit, they just look like grey marines to me..... I am wondering what to do to get the spark back, or at least to give them a Fenryka edge?

One idea was to try an embossed leather effect using just paint on the power fists, like a fingerless glove :biggrin.: Put a simple pattern on it.

However I am not sure about the best way to do that, any ideas?

Any tips on making them more 6th Legion?

oooh leather wrapped power fists , i  wonder if you can get an intereting design maybe reminicent of the leather masks from  prospero burns  also dont mind me delirous from  a 13 hour shift XD  with about 6 hours till  next go !  STILL GOT TIME FOR  TARTAROS  PATTERN  TERMINATOR HYPE !

they look  great to me , I think  its the armor itself thats a tad bare if you do some designs on them  they will really pop out D:

At the end of the day theres always the option for pelts

Well I tried the leather idea.

Not 100% sold on it yet. Any thoughts to improve on it? Think the choice of highlight colours was wrong :/

I will have to leave the pelts for now, as I do not have any modelling putty on the rig, but I will do some runes or designs on the armour...

I would probably sand the studs down a little or take them off. Also, maybe light dark brown lines in it to represent the texture that comes on leather? Idk. We keep leather in our warehouse, but that stuff usually ends up dyed.....

Do you mean, outline the dark lines with a lighter brown?

I had considered doing a darker base brown & stippling on some brown in an ever so slightly lighter shade. To give it a bit of texture, and also the lines etc you see in it. Do an outline in a lighter brown and go back to do the symbol in a dark brown?

The flecks and milky paint are due to me not using clean water, also my paints are overthinned too.

Ah okay, I see what you are saying now Rayray.

Looking at that, I would say stippling might be the way to go (to imitate the slightly raised areas)

Darker thick lines for the design (to act as shadow for where the design has been pressed into the leather) then a lighter colour through the centre for the raised are of the design?

A bit like the logos you see printed into sports car seats and the like.

Yeah. The thing about leather is it generally ends up having a grain added to it, as most people usually don't want just a smooth leatherl, and I think the smooth look wouldn't really convey leather on the mode. So your idea for stippling is on point.

Hopefully it will work.

What with the Wolves penchant for chains, tattoos and spiky hair, I figured they should get a leather glove too.

Make them proper 80's Glam Rockers :D

Any better?

Probably need to give the know a wash with Reikland like the rest of the hand to dull it in a little. Need to make trhe mix in the stippling both darker and lighter, to get more of the grain of the leather?

Thoughts?

Black Hand of Morkai

Str x2 Ap2 Crush at i1

Str +1 Ap3 Cleave at i4

Crush

Whenever this weapon causes a wound that is not saved due to a roll of a one by your opponent immediately allocate another wound with this weapons profile to the enemy unit. These bonus wounds do not themselves cause additional wounds.

Cleave

Whenever this weapon deals an unsaved wound allocate a would to another enemy model directly beside the wounded model or in base to base contact behind it. These bonus wounds do not themselves cause additional wounds

The first time I painted my 58mm Eisenhorn figure, I tried to do an embossed leather look on his shoulder pads and I think it turned out well; unfortunately, I don't have any photos of it. :(

What I did was put down a dark brown base coat and then using a lighter, medium shade of brown, I loaded a stiff brush I normally used for drybrushing, wiped most of the paint off (but not as much as if I was drybrushing) and lightly stippled the entire area with the color. Once dry, I put a brown wash over it, and repeated the process about 5 times. Each progressive wash darkens the earlier layers of the stippled paint and gives a nice worn leather look.

BCK, thanks for the advice, I was going to stop once I had gotten the pattern down once and washed it.

By repeatedly going over it and rewashing, it has added a lot more depth to the designs.

Not too bad eh?

I have a wee story knocking about in my head to explain the fists and the crux.... Need to get it straightened out in my head.

Let me know what you think :)

*hyperventilates at the sight of the crux terminatus*

:tongue.:

I kid, I kid! Awesome Looking Terminators! Hope the leather effect works out! That'd be really cool to see.

To be fair... the Legion Champion has a Crux Terminatus on his shoulderpad.

Lol, not to worry, I have a work-around idea to explain it :p

Greyed the armour and washed with nuln oil, then did 1 pass of grey. Think I went too heavy on the first pass though. Need to thin the paints more I think!

Might wash again with nuln oil and go for another coat of grey.

If that fails (which it might, by making the armour too dark) I will just restart.

Ah well, can't succeed all the time :)
