jimbo13
One word for those furies: YES!!!!! How did you achieve the "battle damage"? I love the subtlety and how it does look like it came out the arse end of a cyclonic torpedo. Nusquam
I love my Dark Furies. They always end up doing serious work ha. The battle damage I use foam from my transport case. Take a darker and lighter color and dab it over the area, then take a metallic color and do the same. The dots on the Furies is actually the blood technical I flicked on. Flint13
I'm kinda looking forward to that medicae. I love the mix of parts on him. For the furies, the camera is prolly focus struggling. Try putting them on a white background and having the camera auto focus on the head. Nusquam
Tactical Sarge with his trophy axe: Chooser of the Slain for the Dark Furies: For the Primus Medicae I'm debating his final loadout. My one consul slot is usually spent on a Chaplain. It's hard for me to make a list that doesn't use Decapitation Strike. BrotherCaptainArkhan
I have to admit, if I was going to steal one thing from you it would be the patterning on the Mor Deythan. I may even do just that and title it Nusquam-pattern decoration or something. It works really, really well. Continuing it on the bare skin of the Shade was inspired. Nusquam
"Good artists copy, great artists steal." -A phrase that has been copied and changed over the years by various authors and artists. Nusquam-Pattern is fitting if you translate my name from Latin. Nusquam
Anvil Industries That's where I got the minis, as well as Nex's pistols. They also have a wide array of weapons and other bits. I highly recommend them. Loketh
I generally avoid greenstuff and focus on hack and slash conversions and creative posing to make my models stand out, so your Chooser of the Slain really speaks to me. You've posed him beautifully, in a way that tells a story. I was immediately able to picture him running alone through the smoke-covered Isstvan dropsite, frantically scanning for targets amidst the burned out wrecks and trying to regroup with his brothers, still reeling from the shock of betrayal. JeffTibbetts
I picked up a rigger brush (not quite as long as your liner, but similar) to make a Nusquam-Pattern Freehander (henceforth to be referred to as a Nusquamder or NPF--your choice). You mentioned the ratio of paint-to-water being tricky, yeah? Any tips? I know I'll want it a bit thinner than regular, but I'm not sure quite how thin. And you're just thinning with water, not Lahmian Medium or anything, right? Anyway, I've got some freehand work calling my name and I want to give this a shot so any advice would be stellar. Thanks for the idea! You've been using the NPF to powerful effect on these guys and they're looking excellent. Nusquam
I practiced on some pieces of paper first. It'll be different for each brush, it just takes some test runs to find the right ratios. Also use 'base' paints, they're more opaque and forgiving when thinned down with water. And yeah, just using water. Medium might not be a bad idea, but water being thinner it was my first choice, but it might be worth a test. I'm just low on mine. Practice practice! It took me a few tries to get it right, but it was fun and worth it. Nusquam
It's been a while but I'm finally able to get some work done on my XIX. I grabbed two of those Calth boxes and I am in love with them. Here is a WIP blast. I jsut got the transfers and volkites today so now I'm about to go nuts with them. The unpainted contemptors arms are swap-able so he can be anything I need. Soric
The Viper... I mean Xiphon looks really good in Raven colours. Alot of great kitbashes and the OSL for the Tactical's plasma guns is impressive. The only thing that's niggling me would be the mold lines on the Tactical's arms (although I assume those will be dealt with at some point). Nusquam
Thanks! I couldn't even see the line until the blown up pic. Nusquam
Looking great. How do you rate the RG transfer sheet? Worth getting? I'm divided on it. Pros: Gorgeous decorative transfers (banners, raven skulls etc) Wide variety of unit types Cool lines of RG themed mottos (Victorus Aut Mortis, Umbra, etc) Variety of command and veteran symbols Cons:Unit designations come in groups of 4, not 5, per color; So you can't even have a minimum number unit with matching designations. Theres some weird bronze color I'm not really a fan of. I can't tell if it's growing on me or I'm just accepting it Not enough plain raven symbols. So if you have a lot of bodies you'll need to get more or make your own dedicated to the plain raven symbol. they are really thick and its much harder to get them to appear 'painted-on' and not show the edges If there was an easy way to do white decals I would do it myself. I think its great if you want some bling transfers, but to fill out numbers beyond 20 tacticals its not going to go far. To clarify i mean unit markings without the reticle and XIX underneath; those are special designations Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304019-nusquams-30k-wip-thread-61417-finished-atrapos/page/2/#findComment-4253791 Share on other sites

Brother Pheidias
I applaud your sensible decision to put a helmet on Mr. Corax there. It should have been standard for all the Primarchs to come with the option of a suitably ornate helmet. Luna707
Wow I love the viper xiphon! Also that helmet looks fantastic on Corax! The Xiper was a lot of fun. His head is actually pretty small, it's the size of the dark fury bare head with respirator; it's all that hair that makes it look bigger haha.
