++Blood for the Blood God: Daemonkin community++

Recommended Posts

The Marine stood amidst the corpses of the fallen, covered in the crimson gore. His butchery was over. Scanning the faces of those he slew, the white, blank eyes of the fallen bored into his mind. This did not phase the fearless Marine, relinquishing his victory in silence, as his handiwork spoke for him and his praise for his god. However, this peace was broken by a familiar sound.

The voice.

It consumed at the mind of the Marine. It whispered dark and terrible things, of blood, glory and death, all at an unimaginable scale for the sane. The marine clawed at his helmet, the scratching of metal causing the white, powdered bone to reveal the metal beneath. He fell to his knees, looking at the corpse of a poor soul, once a man, now a bloody ruin.

The sanity of the Marine began to fight this voice, the last vestige of his humanity. Yet, the beast inside was winning. The madness was overbearing, this unnatural thirst for bloodshed; this alien rage within, consuming the last of his sanity. The Marine threw of his helmet, revealing the distressed emotion featured on his face. Cold sweat dropped from his face as he fought the beast inside, drinking the image of the butchered guardsman.

Yet, it was over as soon as the battle begun. A crimson mist fell over his mind, revealing a rictus smile; his body shaking. Wide eyes looked upon the corpse. The daemon within wanted his fill of blood. The Marine could not, and would not disappoint. In the blink of an eye, the Marine tore at the corpse, eating, ripping and tearing at the offal and flesh. Gore sprayed over the Marine’s ravaged armour, but he did care not. Khorne did care not. The enemy could not just be destroyed. Total annihilation of mind, body and soul was the only option. The beast within roared at the red sky above, speaking in a tongue forbidden to be spoken by man. Victory was near over this mortal soul.

It was close to freedom from this prison of flesh and bone.

Me! Only a small contingent for this ETL (due to life obligation :'( ).

My boys are part of the Wrath, however, there is no real leader as of yet, need to think of one.

The Brass Stampede is stomping along, albeit at a slow pace:

Work coming along on Arctos Gorehowl's warp dragon:

I'm liking the combination of spare horns from the bloodthirster kit and horns snipped from a CSM helmet. Either one on their own seemed lacking, but together I think they bring balance and complement each other well. The smaller horns can also be swung outward, with their ends slightly away from the head as well, if that ends up looking good.

Keep in mind that the blu-tack doesn't keep things perfectly in position, so obviously the angles would be "perfect" and at least equal to each other when it's pinned and glued.

I'm tweaking the angle of the smaller horns, i.e. more vertically or horizontally oriented:

More vertically oriented:

Middle orientation:

Horizontal orientation:

And now, for the wings. This is the best I can do, the angle/position isn't ideal but it's hard to take pictures and hold things in place at the same time:

I'm also starting work on my Skullcrushers-as-Bikers.

Most of them are going to be meltabikers, so I've been amassing a collection of Blood Angels infernus pistols to use as their meltaguns.

I don't really like the look of meltaguns used one-handed, so these pistols fit the bill perfectly for a berzerker with a melta in one hand and a chainaxe in the other.

Just testing out the bits to see which parts I'm going to use. I think I like the CSM Khorne champ head very much for my standard bikers, and I'll be using the Skullcrushers helms for the champs.

The torsos from 40k just aren't quite big enough for the Skullcrushers legs, so I think I'll end up going with the torsos from that kit as well.

See below for pictures.

Just a heads-up, I used to play Blood Angels and used IPs as Meltaguns on my Assault Squads and ran into a lot of opposition to it, even though I told everyone I played that they were Meltaguns, not IPs, before the game started.

Fair enough, and thank you. Since CSM can't take IP, I figure people will understand once I explain it. I pretty much only play friendly games, so I wouldn't bother trying to enter a WYSIWYG tourney or something like that.

I've entered a tournament once and was roundly trounced each and every game. More of a beer and pretzels kind of guy, myself.

I don't really know why I faced such opprobrium, I had no IPs in the army except the counts as Meltaguns and the group I played with were normally pretty easy-going (except that one guy that every gaming group has). All I know is that having IPs as Meltaguns really ****ed a lot of people off.

Such silly things happen to people when playing our little game of toy soldiers.

Here's the skullcrusher with a few more of the proper bits on him:

I need to figure out a good way to accurately drill out the plastic rods through the center. The chainaxes need to be extended a little bit.

They look sweet. Personally prefer the vertical horns. I feel he could use them to gore someone then. If they're backwards, I struggle to see their 'use'. I think you'd be fine with IP, as KDK don't have access to them (especially since anyone who has issue with that will probably have as issue with juggers as bikes, and they can go :cuss)

An'ggrath. Eh, I'd rather have a couple of D-thirsters. He has the fluffy points cost of a Lord of Skulls. He's good, but still overpriced like everything else. Goes at the same initiative step as a Wraithknight, and if that WK has a D weapon can still kill him in 1 turn if it gets lucky.

His rules are in IA:XIII.

I also prefer the vertically oriented horns.  They look a little more "china Dragon, heres your mooshoo!" nah but seriously they look more badass.  Nice work there, always happy to see a spray painted thumb holding some conversion work! :)

I'm refining how I want these guys to look.

I like that the infernus pistols have a variant in each hand. This way I can have one of each per squad.

Out of 18, 6 will be Biker Champs, 10 will be meltagunners, and 2 will have flamers (from Ashen Circle kit).

Here's my work on the first meltagunner:

Yeah i was able to check his rules out. Suffer from the instability still, And the formation calls for 8 BT i thought it was 3 at first.  And seeing how IA 13 is new i doubt he will be getting a update anytime soon.

Not impressed with him for the cost, being GFC he still under power for the cost, Great looking model all done up.

Nice! Even my cable connection it was choking out my browser. :biggrin.:

I've got 3 of those Skull Crushers not yet made, if I ever finish my large vow I'll build them out I think.

This whole time I failed to realize imgur had a bunch of size options.

So after a few months i finally had the chance to play a game with the KDK.

Versus a Nid player, there was 2 huge 30 hormagaunts units, 2 venomtrope, 1 Flyrant and 2x 6 Zoan and 2x Genestealers with Alphas, all of this deployed behind an aegis defense line.

My list was a Juggerlord with Goredrinker and a Khorne's axe, 5 possesed,1 CSM unit, 1 Zerker unit, 2 Maulers with tendrils, 1 Soul grinder a Gorepack of 2 msu bikes and 8 hounds plus 2x5 hounds, a Land Raider.

And i took as allies Khârn+10 cultists.

The game did go back and forth, simply because the Warp lances of the Zoan where buffed to the max with their numbers and i obviously din't have enough dices to DtW, even if i would choose Adamentium will, my lord performed okay and quickly gained abilities with goredrinker, but he and the 8 hounds where stuck in the 30 gaunts.

First turn could'nt do anything usefull with the Bloodtithe, but by turn 3 i almost could get FNP and+1A on each turn wich helped mitigate the Stealers rending claws and i even had enough points to summon a Skull cannon to had some firepower.

Now he simply won because he was lucky enough to have 2 times the objective 3 card, he got in the end my Juggerlord with the sheer amount of attacks of the gaunts, thats when i realised that a Lord really should be Initiative 6..., and another objective that in the end gave him a total of 7 points, while i've got 4 points via 2 of the Deamonkin cards.

Possesed did perform well, managed to finish the remaining gaunts and killed off one of the Stealers unit.

A few mistakes i've made that i will not repeat next time, namely one was that i went to far ahead with the hounds and lord in their scout move, wich gave him the oppurtinity to assaults out of the aegis with his gaunts, and it greatly minimized the impact of the hounds.

The Brazen Beasts are joining the ranks of the ETL. Still working on my lord's name and background but I have pledged the beginnings of my Blood Host:

Chaos Terminator Lord (Zhufor model) w/Axe of Khorne and Sigil

8 Bloodletters

8 Berzerkers (Champ has Axe of Khorne)

8 Cultists

5 Possessed

Helbrute w/Plasma Cannon

750 points

I'll get this topic updated during the weekend & also included a link to Slayer le Boucher post with the 3d6 dice/names for Lords.  That look really cool & very helpful.

Just ask what Daemonkin warband does everyone collect?
