GhostMalone
A quick one to put to the community. What do you think about my Aridex defensive bolters? http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_184820_zps7rngviui.jpg http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_184827_zps55f6j1xv.jpg http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_184842_zpspbk2uijp.jpg http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_184845_zpsdbtdbzzv.jpg http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_185403_zpsnehthw6w.jpg now they are easy to replicate and I may add more details to them but I like the simplicity of their design. If anyone has anymore spare Heavy bolter sponsons like those from the sicarians predators etc I'd love you to pm me. I've got 5 on hand but I'm looking at making 30 of these Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307114-kurama-reviews-the-horus-heresy-series-and-products/page/12/#findComment-4353928 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Looking good there, have you any plans on what to do with the circle bits on the tops and bottoms of the HB's? I do not get off the tunb until the 19/20th, but I will have a mooch about. I had planned on keeping my HB for my Heresy stuff magnetised to swap out, but I potentially could have a stack of the modern HB's from sponsons (My 40K preds are Annhilators, so Lascannons all the way, plus I got a few in a job-lot unless my friend raided the box) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307114-kurama-reviews-the-horus-heresy-series-and-products/page/12/#findComment-4353951 Share on other sites
GhostMalone
I'm thinking to do some cabling going to the sensor array, that would be awesome mate I'm also thinking about the excess sprues from the storm Eagle and fire raptors I could use the Storm Raven servitors cockpit as defensive weaponry aswell Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307114-kurama-reviews-the-horus-heresy-series-and-products/page/12/#findComment-4353954 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Stick the turret on some tracks give it a servo arm and some guns and it could be a combat servitor, used for patrolling the rad wastes outside the facility (but obviuosly let back in for good behaviour) Or legs and chunky arms, use it as a charonite/bullgryn counts-as Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307114-kurama-reviews-the-horus-heresy-series-and-products/page/12/#findComment-4353996 Share on other sites
GhostMalone
Tracks may be the best option I can look at the kataprhon (sp?) Mechanicus range good thinking brother I'm definitely interested in this idea. Maybe give him set patrol protocols but used a scatter to dictate in between the turns which way it heads Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307114-kurama-reviews-the-horus-heresy-series-and-products/page/12/#findComment-4353999 Share on other sites

So without further ado lets begin.http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_123325_zpsgsblbznx.jpgnow gather your components like so http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_124621_zpsshi1jid1.jpgstart by building the side plates, this means sponsons and sponson armour.http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_124624_zps51u1tjrl.jpgslap together your engine blockhttp://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_124722_zpsujuwsrms.jpgattach your main top hull components like so.http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_124817_zps1obugtew.jpgand attach the rear block to the bottom hull, next up unlike a Rubix cube we just line it all up.http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_124953_zpsrq8xzzar.jpghttp://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125143_zpsw2ouo9lk.jpghttp://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125259_zpsdidawkn8.jpgso it's really just a matter of lining them up and using enough epoxy and pressure that it sets.http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125308_zpsaoyr60we.jpghttp://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125405_zpsudexhj1v.jpgnext we dry fit the cannon and attach the bearing pieces on the sides just like the Cerberus. http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125522_zpsg2da0vgz.jpgWe then simply slide the engine block I to place and fix it to the chassis. http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125617_zpskdnpyjuq.jpgWe then finally add the Armoured surrounding plate and equip the sponsons. http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_131010_zps5xg0jj2m.jpgand there you have it, fear not fraters the fear of forgeworld has been conquered due to expendable income!http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_131208_zpsyspxxnwz.jpgand a shot of all 3 Spartan Chassis Tanks for you all!So overview time... what did I think about the Typhon? It's a simplistic kit especially now the messing with treads is over with but don't mistake simple and easy for boring. I found this to be a delightful kit which shows when forgeworld try they can get it extremely right. Now I'm off to watch some trashy movies and have a beer, if your lucky I'll post another Review later for you something small maybe.... that's all the hints Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307114-kurama-reviews-the-horus-heresy-series-and-products/page/12/#findComment-4354963 Share on other sites

Dantay VI
The HH heavy bolter sponsons, do you reckon they could be easily converted to act as marine portable weapons (HB support squad or HB veterans)? Also what kind of epoxy do you use? Is it the 2 part stuff like Araldite? I need to find me some elastic bands for the future. I use regular superglue like loctite, and it is good for getting a fast bond, but I tend to find that the joints are quite brittle & easily broken. GhostMalone
The heavy bolters if given a trigger and maybe a stand like the ones for the cadian Guard heavy bolters would make awesome portable heavy bolters especially if you want something different to tge static pose of the HS squads. I use a mixture for my epoxies, araldite is in my arsenal but for example the spartans as they are heavy resin components I mix up araldite and then before I press the components (after a dry fit) I add loctite to set it quicker. I have messed around with tarzans grip but it's not as effective. But usually you can't go wrong with loctite and araldite gives it body and a quick set and should (don't hold me to it) make it less brittle. Please note I never use heavy epoxies when it's a GW plastic component Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307114-kurama-reviews-the-horus-heresy-series-and-products/page/12/#findComment-4359145 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Hmmm... I wasn't sure if cutting a bolter down to act as the trigger and grip would work... Anyway fear not, I will hunt down the HB's for you. I am just thinking of the unused sponson weapons coming in May/Junes order :) I also hadn't realised you could mix loctitie super glue into the epoxies. I fuguured to use the superglue as a tack weld, then bring the epoxy in to give it a decent bit of strength and proper stuck-togetherness. Superglue was always my go-to, as I lack the tools to keep something rigged up waiting for epoxy to cure. Now I have my own domain hat will hopefully change post-haste. GhostMalone
Well that's my little trick it's just learning the balance not too much epoxy and just enough loctite to hold. It's sort of like those accelerator sprays for the glue it just adds heat to the curing process and speeds it along.
