@jolemai- would have been easily 100+ there were a fair few games going on.

I had a Bugmans XXXX while I was there a little while back. I almost fell asleep on the train home after that and the Bugmans mega burger thing laugh.png

My mates love Ghost Ship but IPA is not for me...

Glad you're enjoying Blighty!

@Charlo - Yes the Bugman's XXXXX is a nice pint, although all of the Bugmans beers are in reality re-badged Nottingham Brewery ales.

I'm back in Blighty on leave, enjoying Elgoods beers in Wisbech.

Kurama enjoy your holiday, although it is a shame that you won't be around for the Great British Beer Festival in Olympia next Tuesday;-)

Try to relocate in time for October... 30K Throne of Skull at WHW. Se if you can get as many BnC-ers to arrwnd and have a big party :)

Glad you are enjoying the UK, next time come north of the border and hit the whisky trails thumbsup.gif We also do decent beers and play 40/30K in some places too ;)

Well these are for next ETL and I'll be using these for a white scars force, next I want a Caestus Assault Ram to round out my Heavy Support slots.

Then it's 2 Xiphons 9 jetbikes and a thunderhawk/stormbird depending on how long till its released.

Then if we get this Horus heresy starter I'll get 2 boxes so I can do 2 10x tac squads in drop pods and 2 10x support squads in drop pods.

So guys just got home after an amazing stint in the Netherlands, I caught up with Augustus b'rass while I was there (pics will be forthcoming).

A big thanks to everyone for there input and giving me heads up in regards to certain things that made my trip easier.

But a big thanks to Augustus for seriously being the best host and a great tour guide, my fiancé loved our micro holiday in the Netherlands and we will be returning.

Now I need more sleep as im jet lagged to he'll and back.

I've got many reviews incoming now and alot of inspiration from my holiday.

Legion Fire Raptor

So here we go today I go through the main parts of the Fire Raptor Gunship (supposedly a pain in the arse to build) now not only do I have one of these bad boys to build, I have 2 (holy :cuss are you trying to kill yourself Kurama?!?) Why no I'm not after speaking with Augustus the other day he pretty much assured me it's a simple enough kit to build... So let's begin.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_151602_zpslkuj35js.jpg

So here we have the unpacked kit, alot of components and even some extra Weapon sprees from the GW plastic kit (will need these for my next terrain project keep it hush hush) all in all a fair few resin components but nothing too intimidating.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_151625_zpsdi5awscz.jpg

resin component Piece 1 fairly detailed decent thickness no excess flash or warping, score 1 to me.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_151637_zpstc4wuskl.jpg

so I'm assuming this piece is from the base of the flight deck, seems to be in decent knick nothing too stressful.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_151715_zpsaf6rhtt2.jpg

The sides of this beast, now there's a bit of flash and warpage but looks like a good soak in warm water should hopefully correct the problem.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_151742_zpsyhezqlgf.jpg

a top view shows the minor warping but as you can see its not the worse.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_151923_zpstkdjawzc.jpg

ball turret components, decent amount of detail quite happy with the quality of the casting process.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_151943_zps1okbjdok.jpg

so here's the gunnery sgt. Decent amount of detail just won't be able to add any white scar helms or torsos unfortunately.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_152102_zpsws8335rq.jpg

Autocannon batteries I will be utilizing these on both beasts so I can hunt all them Vindicator in my local group.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_152117_zpshqycjyjh.jpg

parts of the main fuselage, big Heavy bricks of resin. Might need some heavy duty :cuss to join these.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_152213_zpshu9zoxbt.jpg

now this piece is part of the forward armament sensory array, now this tiny Piece is actually amazing in quality, now I'm going to use this as a chance to air my thoughts on resin v GW plastic and the rumors about GW streamlining the heresy.

Now the fact that such detail and quality of the detail can be caught in resin is amazing, with the release of the heresy plastic box set on the horizon and rumors of more plastic vehicle kits I need to say this. Games workshop should not be touching anything other than MkIV v and vi Infantry I feel the loss of detail is the reason why 40k went cartoonish, sure they can do amazing things in plastic but when it comes to the sharp boxy slimline designs of the adepts astrates plastic can't seem to produce as well as resin. Now you may disagree but i feel that the premium price tag on models like the fire raptor are worth it as long as the consistency in the casting process is there.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_152347_zpsaiaawub1.jpg

engine blocks, finally found something wrong EXCESS FLASHING!

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_152352_zpssdnnrqih.jpg

but seriously this is the worst thing in this kit which goes to show Forge World have there :cuss tight.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_152406_zpsdzwkesnz.jpg

Armour plating which really isn't anything to amazing just Armour plating.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_152501_zpstunnf7ut.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150811_152519_zpsvlwiu3lw.jpg

The plastic sprues

and the instructions.

So there you have it, now to start the build review.

And some extra photos from the trip

Edit: some reason the photos aren't showing if that's the case just give the link a click

Legion Fire Raptor Build

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/gIjEYG-xKtDMdkfF6oQ09pOXHEDuxonqjTs1rWuvwoyC6JCS007EvoqX6nFuFDAN_98SHWp7vnv7sBDFfOBjhqnzXQt319PJvPumkmchXuPjcqcNhzLO2Qd8KYt_zpsirm1cm8t.jpeg

so here we go with one of the longest builds to date; the fire raptor.
Now before I begin I must warn you that this models instructions are not the clearest, great kit but this model isn't the most straight forward but in saying that it wasn't as big as a frustration to build as most people claim.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_164400_zpsiu9zh5zk.jpg

so ensure you clean up this bad boy and trim all excess flash off especially when handling the main part of the body.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_164408_zpsbz3t49kd.jpg

as you can see this needs to be sanded down especially for later on in the build so don't half arse this kit.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_164743_zpsxmoahatk.jpg

as you can see we have a minor gap but nothing some liquid Greenstuff won't fix (it's not worth :cussing around with over a mm gap)

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_165132_zpsjdff1nd0.jpg

I like to run minor beads of glue to ensure an even join and to join the sides with minimal spacing.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_165224_zpstxu9sanx.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_165228_zpsjiwxeidk.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_165248_zpsglsecdyd.jpg

so as you can see the main bit of the body is coming along nicely.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_170222_zpsi0mlnd2a.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_170228_zpszgyvsuws.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_170255_zpsjlwqaafr.jpg

now dry fitting the interior I noticed that the roof will be raised by 3mm if I was to fix it as is so I trimmed the roof section of the center pieces to ensure a nice fit.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_170848_zpsyv4jmoxx.jpg

now I needed to remove a side section of the wall to fit the roof as its a bit tight to squeeze the plastic into the resin space.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_171633_zpsy5uihym6.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_171656_zpsisweu8qo.jpg

then I fitted the roof which was pretty simple

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_172325_zpsuj5wdqyx.jpg

next up was attaching the landing gear housing.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150812_173505_zpsygegxr50.jpg

Then fit the resin roof Piece.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150813_080610_zpsbcwz9jla.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150813_080859_zps9jqzzll9.jpg

then we add the little wing and hatch and other minor details.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150813_081324_zpsbbareovc.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150813_082337_zpsxlvxazs5.jpg

next up is the wing sub assembly

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150813_083758_zpsbblpxwct.jpg

now I actually added the wings in 2 stages to allow the glue to set without excess weight to make a more stable bond

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150813_085618_zpsbdhch7fi.jpg

it's starting to take shape

Yeah I'm having one look like it's soaring and the second one will be in the traditional hover stance.

I'm about half way through the second one so I'm definitely confused as to how some people had such difficulty with this kit.

jasp, jasp jasp, wait, it's kurama now innit?tongue.png hey man, it's furioso-prime, wait it's bloodbath now innit?laugh.png

I see you've been busy. and rich apparently, LOL. how's things been. I am restarting my Death Guard, after being down a good bit with two crushed hands. the Dr' says it's about time that I start some fine motor skill work to build up my hands again. the Doc was pleased when I replied, I have just the thing for that...

though, my painting may look like a 2 YO with lipstick was set loose.......

I hope I can get full use of my hands again.

ain't London cool? so was Amsterdam but then, I was in college and the detail are.........hazy.

so when I can afford some resin, I'll let you know.

It's good to see you back prime, yeah I've lucked out lately with work overtime etc so I decided got to try actually stick to a project and thought thus would be a good way of going about it.

So here's the second fire raptor;

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150813_172510_zpsq98eknmh.jpg

Those Fire Raptors look great, thank you for the step by step man - the hull of my Raptor was driving me insane! Especially after someone tried heating up one half of the hull then straightening it and it chuffing snapped! :D Might ring Forgeworld and see if they can send me another ...
