Ahhh I actually had that happen on the second raptor, I found that if you lock time both halves into place as you connect it to the side it also removes any warping.

 

It's fiddley but it works.

 

 

And the reason I do these reviews is to help out any and every hobbyist

quick question Kurama, do you think it is possible to build the fire raptor in a way that i could magnetize the weapon ball things and back ramp so as i could have a storm eagle as well and then i can change between the two or is there integral pieces missing in the kit

The sides of the Fire raptor could be magnetize if you were to use the Deimos Pattern Rhino hatches but it would require a lot and I mean a lot of planning out.

 

Not impossible it's just one of those ideas that requires a fair bit of effort.

 

The back ramp really doesn't have much space to add magnets, but I'll pick up a storm Eagle next and I'll do a comparison for you as im curious now

I think the main difficulty in using a Fire Raptor as a Storm Eagle is the lack of a Front Ramp.

Collected Visions of Heresy

So I've had this one on the back burner for a while, both collectors editions of the Visions of heresy. I thought before the end of the Horus Heresy we will most likely see a 3rd and final copy of the collected visions so I decided to do a quick comparison and surprisingly enough it seems the production quality from over a decade ago is on par with our modern day equivalent.

as you can see just from the slipcase and dust covers we've come along way in adding that extra touch of quality.

With the expansion of extra lore and detail the newest version was split into two volumes, one must think at the end of this story will the 3rd edition have 3 or 4 books?

The black backing is a good indicator that maybe forgeworld were doing their collective homework on what us collectors were after.

The format is the same just with more in depth explanations in lore, events and things such as warp travel, astrates transition and such.

All in all I love these books both copies, they are full of inspiration and if you manage to find one on ebay it's well worth the cash drop. My only gripe with the newest version is the missing metal corner clasps but really if that's the worst thing I found I'm a pretty petty nerd.

The Horus Heresy Book IV: Conquest Limited Edition

Yes before you go hollering and waving your arms in the air about Conquest being out for god knows how long, just take a breather and relax because it's just a quick review (after all I'm not giving you all the answers, otherwise you wouldn't buy this stuff yourself) now back when book 4 first job if you recall we got a limited edition version in a nice slipcase and all that, now I was lucky enough to get one and I thought it was about time to flaunt it like you got it.

a beautiful slipcase with both the imperial aquilla and eye of horus, looks great next to the limited edition istvaan trilogy but if you didn't luckily enough get one it sort of looks out of place on your shelf (believe me)

now what made this so special was these four double sided cheat sheets containing weapon profiles, special rules, warlord traits etc for Legiones Astrates, Mechanicum, Solar Auxillia & Knight households. (I laminated mine to keep them in good knick, if you want a scanned copy hit me up they're a great tool to have)

So as you open up the front cover you straight away get an amazing battle scene with Mech and the then new knights.

The contents page so what's in this? Well a summary of the history of the solar auxilia, some background on the joint offensive on the Segmentum Obscurus from the death guard and sons of horus, various knight households, a start your own campaign designer with various rules to use for anything, some extra maps rules for city fights etc, Solar auxilia army lists and lists to use your Questoris Knight households.

great sketches throughout the book and as always the quality of the background fluff is amazing and worth the patience to sit there and digest.

Horus Heresy Book V: Tempest

So introduction time, welcome ladies and gentlemen to our next Review! Today we will be taking a sneak peak at that beautiful forgeworld book that is Tempest! (Shock horror). So what can I say for an overview? Well this bad boy contains the atrocity of calth, info on the realm of Ultamar and of course rules for the dastardly warlord titan (which every single person in the world wants.

Book V in all its glory, I never cease to swoon over the Forgeworld rulebooks, their quality is something I wish the mainstream 40k community could appreciate, the smell of these books is addictive and tends to lead to some form of psychosis.

even the inner cover screams (you know you wanna drop some serious cash). But in all seriousness the amount of digital editing and artwork that goes into these is amazing, it brings it to a whole different level compared to the codexes and even the old Imperial Armour books.

Contents wise what do we have? Background on the XIIIth legion and the realm of Ultamar, a look at more knight households and titan legions, the first lists for the Imperial Militia, updated rules for the titans (ensuring they are god-machines), some extra toys for all the legions, some extra Mechanicum units and updated rules and new characters for the Word Bearers. This book is packed and well worth the cash drop.

Wow I am so insanely jealous of the condition of your Fire Raptor kit. My bottom hull piece looked like a recurve bow out of the bag while both fuselage side pieces were warped more than 45 degrees along the length of their axis, and the ball turret autocannon barrels were so warped the only thing they'd have been shooting was the plane fuselage!

I think the QC of the Fire Raptor is much improved, I bought one very recently and its condition was much better than I feared. They ship the sides strapped down to card for support now too and my auto cannon were all arrow-

straight bar one.

The most recent kits I bought from FW came with little slips of paper signed by the person who certified they were of satisfactory quality. Was a nice touch :-)

I'm also interested to see some more of your warhammer world stuff, I went when I was about 12 and I loved it, all the old dioramas were quality. I particularly loved this, it was my inspiration in collecting Blood Angels and started my love of the heresy!

got to admit the boat shaped Torso is actually highly detailed and a great cast.

unfortunately the leg pieces have alot of flash but nothing a sharp blade won't clean up (this is why I do these reviews to give a heads up)

Good casting on the exhausts, knee Pads & helm. This will be replaced though for a space wolf based helm once built.

what can I comment about the feet? They have pistons? Once again forgeworld have a great casting process that rarely fails.

weapon options are great but I think I'll hold off on choosing until the wolves get there full rules released as there may be other Legion specific options to choose.

Welcome once again folks to my neck of the woods today we've got a treat for you; a Deredeo Weapon option the Hellfire Plasma Canonade.

so the main part of the model, now I was hoping that the detail was high but the reality is this bad boy is just a massive plasma coil. And surprisingly enough no warpage considering the Anvilus Pattern Autocannon option I've previously re I ever was.

and the lower plasma rail for the Canonade.

power cables are cast really well, I'm hoping that I won't need to bend it too much as the resin isn't that thick towards the multiple power cords.

The arm sockets, well I'm trying to decide whether or not I should magnetize these for transportation so I'll consider drilling the ball socket out.

So yeah great weapon option and should be fun to compare against the Autocannon option.

so the main missile housing is a highly detailed Piece of resin, with plenty of vents this bad boy should definitely be painted prior to assembly.

The housing for the optics and the main point for pivoting and movement (yeah this kit has like 5 parts to it so sorry there's not much more to expand upon)

The optics I strongly recommended that this whole kit is painted prior to assembly.

and finally the missile front plates, it's great to have a load of them as drilling some out will give it a great realistic effect.

so standard protocol, bag arrived here in Australia with barely any damages to the contents, the box it arrived in though wasn't as lucky.

minor flash on the weapons but no warping, breakages or lack of detailing.

The backpacks on the other hand ohh boi! Now there's a fair bit of flash from the casting process but I'm sure it will clean up nicely, I'll be keeping some gap filling material on hand for any damages after clean up.

Shoulder Pads aren't broken from the sprue so I'm happy I won't have to rebuild any breakage. (Great stuff forgeworld keep up that bubble packaging)

helms are great but I'm thinking I'll add them to the belts give some bare heads maybe with cammo streaking over the bare faces for variation.

no real issue with the extras either, but I'll need more grenades to kit them all out.

The bodies have minor flash but are nice and crisp, I only wish for variation sake they released another set of recons for extra posing.

and finally the other arms, the only damages through transit but as they go under the Pauldron no one will notice the missing chunk of resin from the shoulder joints.


So recon marines... what to say they look great they smell great hell if you payed me I'd eat one and tell you if it tastes great! But in all seriousness these are great models and one of my favourite sculpts next to the MkIV destroyers and MkIII Armour.

Deredeo Dreadnought Build; Part 1 Chassis

Now before we begin; please please enjoy this video I believe it's enhances the build of the Deredeo and works well with the posing I've chosen for this model.

But now I must say people please for the love of god wash and clean up your resin, I don't know how many times I've seen people ask why paint flakes off or beads when airbrushed. There is a mold release agent so washing in Luke warm water with detergent helps remove this chemical, also note not every model is cast perfectly so remove flashing mould lines etc and ensure you dry fit, im sorry to repeat all this but it seems to be one of those questions that I read daily on forums net wide.

So first off I removed all the pieces from the gates, gave it a quick wash and removed excess flashing and tried to remove as many mould lines as I could. Now with that done I decided to move onto dry fitting.

now I decided to just test and dry fit the legs without the torso (make sure to look at every angle just to ensure your happy with the posing) once I was pleased I simply removed the blue tac and slowly glued the components to mimic the dry fit.

once it was dry I attached the torso and moved it around to get the right angle for the effect I was after, once I was happy I ensured that it was locked into place with enough glue to build 5 titans!

next up I simply added the engine exhausts followed by the knee pad plating.

I then attached my weapon options for the torso, after much tooing and froing I went for the heavy flamers, I then angled and glued in the head.

Following this I decided to check the posing which I'm happy with at this point in time, in the next Review I have to build the weapon options and will have the finished product and a comparison next to my first Deredeo and how the posing doesn't have to be static.

So the final part of this review, building the Hellfire Plasma Canonade and Aiolos Missile Launcher options and finally finishing this models posing, so a quick over view these Weapons are pretty easy to assemble but keep some hot water on hand for the Canonade power cables, you may need to bend them into place.

so once you've cleaned all your resin like good little addicts you can prepare yourself for the simple task of assembling your Hellfire Plasma Canonade
