DuskRaider
From my experience, Volkite Chargers on their own kinda suck, but in massed numbers (like an entire Terminator Squad), they become extremely effective. As an Ork player, I already had this "quantity is it's own quality" mindset, and it actually rings true for these as well. Even against MEQ and TEQ, with 20 Volkite shots (and good dice rolls... and some moxy, because why not?), you're going to drag pretty much anything. Deflagrate also comes in handy, and can easily cripple any infantry. Against smaller squads like Vets, Support Squads, even other Terminators... you're going to leave a mark. Doctor Perils
Is this the inception of the Land Raider Choomsader? While an entirely fitting title I would like to take this chance to humbly suggest the formal designation of Land Raider Cremator. In addition, I would like to lay out my vision for said war machine's finalised weapon load out:2x Sponson-Mounted Hurricane Chargers.1x Hull-Mounted Magna-Melta.This load out follows a simply logic, the Magna-Melta cracks open hostile vehicles and any possible shelters for enemy infantry, the Hurricane Chargers deflagrate the out of everything else.Your thoughts, brothers and sisters? Yes please ! (Cremator sounds good too !) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308805-martian-death-ray-club/page/32/#findComment-4243724 Share on other sites

Skalpynock
A Land Raider is fine and dandy, but we already have the Achilles Alpha. However, as far as I remember, in 32 pages, noone has mentioned the idea of a Predator Deflagrator yet.. Olis
Where's IHF when we need him?!? That's not the first time that question has been asked in this thread. ;) A Land Raider is fine and dandy, but we already have the Achilles. However, as far as I remember, in 32 pages, noone has mentioned the idea of a Predator Deflagrator yet.. A good suggestion, brother! A very good one. What would you arm one with? Culverins? Charlo
I think a Pred would have a small version of the Glaive gun. A lot less range and maybe only ap3, if that and S7. Still the draw a line rule over an okay distance though :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308805-martian-death-ray-club/page/32/#findComment-4244082 Share on other sites
Doctor Perils
What about a demi-culverin mounted on a vindicator or sets of culverins mounted on javelins ? I don't think these options had been discussed either. Also, I know this isn't to do with the MDRC, but I still want rules and a model for Sabers (the vindicator tank hunters with neutron lasers or a vanquisher cannon) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308805-martian-death-ray-club/page/32/#findComment-4244156 Share on other sites

Nomus Sardauk
Okay then, I've done some brainstorming and I think I've come up with some concepts you'll all like, though please bear in mind I have no idea what the points cost, rules or profile of these weapons are or should be, I'm just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks: ASH PHOENIX GUNSHIP Weapon Loadout: 1x Nose-Mounted Twin-Linked Volkite Chieorovile. (I chose the Chieorovile as I estimated it to be around the right size to mounted on the Fire Raptor airframe) 2x Turret-Mounted Quad Volkite Culverins. 4x Wing-Mounted Hellstrike Missles (One use each). Options: The Ash Phoenix's Quad Volkite Culverins can be swapped out for Twin-Linked Multi-Meltas for free. The Ash Phoenix can replace it's Hellstrike Missles for a Phosphex Bomb for -BLANK- points per Bomb. DEIMOS PATTERN PREDATOR CREMATOR (Alternate titles: Conflagrator, Purgator, Purifer) Weapon Loadout: 1x Turret-Mounted Twin-Linked Volkite Demi-Culverin. Options: The Predator Cremator may take Volkite Culverin Sponsons for -BLANK- points. The Predator Cremator may take Multi-Melta Sponsons for -BLANK- points. Special Rules: Fenrisian Funeral: Should the Predator Cremator suffer a Penetrating Hit, after damage results have been resolved roll a D6, on a 2-6 nothing happens. However, if a roll of 1 is made, then the Predator Cremator counts as suffering a Vehicle Explodes damage result, with another D6 inches to the blast range. Doctor Perils
I think the demi-culverin would be the maximum size for the fire raptor also, do you think there would be some kind of possibility of a volkite replacement for the missiles on a Xiphos Iterceptor ? Ulrik_Ironfist
I kinda already asked this over in the guard forum, but can regular humans use volkite weapons? Because some Volkite Charger stormies would be friggin sweet. Also each equipped with serpentia/CCW would make them a sick force to be reckoned with. Hotshots are cool, but volkite would be really nice for making stormies lethal. Skalpynock
Solar Auxilia storm sections are entire squads of charger-equipped humans. The same Solar Auxilia can field Volkite Leman Russes. Ulrik_Ironfist
Thanks, I now contemplate the wonders of entire units of volkite equipped 4+ dudes tearing through entire squads with death rays. It's too bad that I can't actually put them on my models, since they're all equipped with hotshots, plasma guns, flamers and grenade launchers, also about half are metal kasrkin and I don't want to chop them up. Look at Audemus' thread, and contemplate the choom (and the magnificent painting). Well thank you for the plug! Back on topic! I feel it is a tragedy that the two Solar Auxilia fighter aircraft are named the Thunderbolt and the Lightning, yet neither ship can be equipped with the Volkite weaponry necessary to live up to their namesake. A Thunderbolt with a spinal mounted twin-linked Volkite Demi Culverin would definitely inclined me to buy one, as it stands I wait to see how bad the aircraft threat will be before being forced into buying one of the aircraft. I've had my fill of Air Cavalry with my Guard/Militarum army. Doctor Perils
I've had a new idea for a long of light jetbike unit like modern era harquebusiers: the jetbike would not have a heavy weapon, and the added armor save would only apply at distance or on the charge. The marine would only have scout armour, but also a close combat weapon and a "volkite harqubus" What do you think of creating the "carbine" weapon type, shooting twice and granting an extra attack at init step 1 ?
