Herald of Ultramar
He's based one of the Ultramarine Invictarus Suzerains, by the looks of it. millest
cheers :) HoU Â next question though what colour is used on the pad rims? is it just silver and a wash or something else? cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308809-a-lesser-son-of-greater-fathers-dabbling-in-epic/page/18/#findComment-4594995 Share on other sites
BrotherCaptainArkhan
Cheers Millest, as Herald kindly pointed out the base model is indeed a Suzerain :) On the pad rims, it's bronze, highlight gold, light drybrush bright silver, wash with mud tone. Normally comes out looking like worse-for-wear gold/bronze.  Being back in the UK briefly, I have a ton of updates to post on this thread - not realy sure where to start so I'll drip-feed day by day. I think I have about 40 pictures overall to choose from so it'll take a while to get them all uploaded, heh.  What's up first? Here's a couple unpainted shots of the new bodyguard of the Master of the Black One Hundred, the disgraced warriors formerly comprising the comitatus of Brother-Captain Orfeo of Armatura. Having failed to save their lord from the hounds of the XII, having been recovered from Armatura's ashes they serve, for the moment, with the doomed and forgotten warriors of the Hundred.  Black Suzerains  http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2105_zpshhh7wczw.jpg  http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2106_zpsucd35knc.jpg  Land Raider Heraklion  http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2086_zpsavzkgdrq.jpg  http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2087_zpsf2iybtxw.jpg Kizzdougs, Kronos, jimbo13 and 13 others 16 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308809-a-lesser-son-of-greater-fathers-dabbling-in-epic/page/18/#findComment-4608480 Share on other sites
hushrong
YES! There you go again making me love the XIII. Â The Suzerain you have there look big & brutal and I love it! Definitely looking forward to seeing them with paint. jimbo13
I'm excited to see these come to fruition. They look regal and brutally savage all in one. I love it. If you're looking for a good black to use that's different from what you normally do. Try adamantium black by reaper paints, it's a slick metallic black. BrotherCaptainArkhan
Cheers fellas :)  I'm excited to see these come to fruition. They look regal and brutally savage all in one. I love it. If you're looking for a good black to use that's different from what you normally do. Try adamantium black by reaper paints, it's a slick metallic black.  Thanks mate. I will check it out for sure. I actually want some matte black on these guys, but I have another project coming up soon that metallic black would be fantastic for, so I'll check that out for sure.  Here are the Suzerains in action recently against IV Legion traitors - was a hell of a game, absolutely nail-biting from start to finish and ended up in a climactic last turn struggle for dominance between the Suzerains and Iron Warrior elites over a surface-to-orbit missile silo. The Ultramarines narrowly won the game 11-10, with huge casualties on both sides.  http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2085_zpsjb39iqid.jpg  The eagle-eyed among you will also notice a near-completed unit I haven't yet shown, somewhere else in that photo... BrotherCaptainArkhan
Speaking of... any thoughts on this (minor) kitbash? Hard kit to know how to convert, it looks great out of the box already. Still work-in-progress.  I am thinking a member of the Suzerain honour guard on Armatura, one of Orfeo's comitatus, wounded to the point of death but saved by the Hundred's apothecaries and committed to a Leviathan ironform. The stylised helm, and shield, were added to the ironform as a mark of status.  http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2127_zpsoiifm8yw.jpg  http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2128_zpscnolv33l.jpg  http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2129_zpsc6ogpmqr.jpg Kronos, Ramell, millest and 6 others 9 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308809-a-lesser-son-of-greater-fathers-dabbling-in-epic/page/18/#findComment-4608899 Share on other sites
Brother Pheidias
I like it alot, though the shield and helmet do seem a little lonely, by which I mean a bit more Ultrafication might be in order, to tie the whole monstrosity together. hushrong
Maybe one or two more Ultra symbols. Hard to say because it looks awesome already. I love the use of that helm and shield! jimbo13
Maybe an Aquila on the left side of the sarcophagus and an ultima on the right? Maybe a leather tabard as well, like some of your other Ultra's. Â Yeah I hear you. Thinking what to do to add something a little extra, back-banner type thing maybe. Â Maybe one or two more Ultra symbols. Hard to say because it looks awesome already. I love the use of that helm and shield! Â Bear in mind it'll be covered in transfers when done, but I know what you mean. Cheers mate! Â Maybe an Aquila on the left side of the sarcophagus and an ultima on the right? Maybe a leather tabard as well, like some of your other Ultra's. Â Think something like that for the transfer stage will definitely be in order. The old guy has a tabard already, it's just very small ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308809-a-lesser-son-of-greater-fathers-dabbling-in-epic/page/18/#findComment-4609303 Share on other sites
Vazzy
Have you thought about using the huge Aquila from the Custodes set? It'd give a nice, elite look to it. hushrong
Just ogling at your leviathan and started to wonder what was on the back of the base in the first picture. Looking at the final image I just realized that his victims legs are detached behind him. Â You ain't go no legs, Lt. Dan! DuskRaider
Honestly, I'm not really feeling the head or shield. The head looks way too small and the shield just looks like an afterthought. Not trying to rain on your parade or anything, but I think you could convey the interred's former position simply through scheme and transfers. Barring that, if you had access to a Shield from an Iron Circle Domitar, perhaps or even shatter the shield and have a halve chained on his arm. It looks too pristine, at the very least. Â Other than that, I love the pose of the Leviathan. That Consul is the titays too! Â I don't have Prospero yet. Which is strange as I have planned out exactly what to do with most of the set - although your idea is great, but actually has given me an idea for (I think) something better and more unique, so thanks for the inspiration there, brother. Â Just ogling at your leviathan and started to wonder what was on the back of the base in the first picture. Looking at the final image I just realized that his victims legs are detached behind him. He's still WIP, and doesn't even have a name yet so I guess there will be better pics later on ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308809-a-lesser-son-of-greater-fathers-dabbling-in-epic/page/18/#findComment-4609788 Share on other sites

Thanks for the feedback, I anticipated at least one person would dislike the head, I think it's a Marmite thing (e.g. you love it or hate it). I agree with you on the transfer point. However I rather like the head - the shield thing I will think about though, having shattered remnants mag-locked/chained to his shell is a cool idea. Will give it some thought. Cheers man! BrotherCaptainArkhan
How's this for an improvement on the Leviathan?  http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2134_zpscsfuic5a.jpg   And in the meantime, two of my Tactical squads received battle honours elevating them to Veteran status recently - for going above and beyond the call of duty in securing objectives, holding enemies in delaying actions, and surviving hopeless engagements. Serving with the Hundred has its merits, it seems. In recognition of their efforts, both squads received melta weaponry for tank hunting, and their Rhino transports received dozer blades and automated multi-melta turrets:  http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2132_zpsglge5o24.jpg  http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2133_zpsqcbzvnjt.jpg  Also, spot the HQ choice I haven't shown yet in that pic ;) stuanor, Ramell, Noserenda and 12 others 15 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308809-a-lesser-son-of-greater-fathers-dabbling-in-epic/page/18/#findComment-4610256 Share on other sites
Daemon2027
I like the Leviathan, I think you have just the right amount of bling, especially if your going to be adding transfers. Brother Pheidias
That's no moon... That's a Chaplain!Oh, I think your lads deserve the upgrade, the Black One Hundred strike me as the desperately tenacious sort, any one of them might well be the equal of a Veteran from any other Company, considering what they´re put through!Fine work on the Rhinos. Nasty surprise for most enemies I reckon!
