Hmm, nevermind then. He's gotta be bigger than that!

Maybe the regular daemon prince + thunderwolf parts + green stuff. Bonus is that I already have those and don't need to spend money.

That definitely should work. I used demon prince arms and legs on a TWC body and head for my Bran Redmaw model.

Awesome. Would you happen to have a link to it?

Painted most of the details and washed everything, leaving the black armor for last. I'm really liking this color scheme:

I think I want to paint the axe blade a vibrant red. Just not quite sure how to pull it off. Will have to do a little searching for the right recipe/technique.

Not the best pic, but I've been working on the berzerker some more.

This one is a little messy. I need to fix all the white spray that got onto the black armor, but that's why I left the armor for last. His axe is a little too thick in terms of the paint, but the others look better since this was just the test mini. Not really sure what to do in terms of highlights, because I honestly just want to leave it red. I may paint the runes glowing or brass, but otherwise I sorta just might leave it alone for now.

And a cultist I was playing around with to figure out how I was gonna do the skin:

In a discussion with an artist friend of mine about painting dudes, and in no small part due to Auggie's fist, I think I may have a solution for your red axe problem.

Basecoat the axe in Caliban Green.

Then use red over it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Building up a couple of Plague Marine units to sell to recoup some of the money I spent on a pair of lizards, and thought I'd share my WIP.

Tried to give them a bit of character. CSM legs/backpacks/ammo belts with some berzerkers legs for variety, FW Death Guard upgrade kit, 30k plasma guns and phobos bolters, and AoS nurgle dude weapons.

Excuse the crummy quality pics, was in a rush when I took them.

Unit champ... he casts fist:

Well, I've still got a few Plague Marines left to build but my heart (and skull) belong to Khorne, so I'm back to wolf on my traitor wolf berzerkers.

I scraped the paint off the dude's axe from before, because I ruined it. The rest of them look good enough, but I'm taking my time with the axes themselves. For now, I'm painting the entire unit one step at a time for all 20 of them. Started with power weapons, (though I have a few left to spray with orange on top of the red), but I'm moving on to the Screaming Bell trim:

Also of note is that I'm pretty sure every single one of them has a unique head. Between the Blood Claws/Grey Hunters box, Wolf Guard Terminators, and maybe a random head from here they're all unique. Oh, and the upgrade kit helm on the icon bearer.

Looking good man. Plenty of character. The raptor legs are a great fit for the Traitor Wolves and the Forgeworld Plague Marines are fantastic models!

Edit: Just had a full look through your log! Nice work on the Juggernauts. I picked up a set of skullcrushers to run as ThunderWolves for my 13th Company your conversions for them are great. Giant Daemon Metal Rhinos > Giant Wolves all day every day.

Studying pathophysiology doesn't leave me with much time to hobby, but I've been painting more trim. Almost done with the copper trim. Then moving on to brass and metallic black:

Working on yet another diversion, as it's really hot and I didn't feel like painting during my study break:

I'm still kicking around possible names for the Chaos Space Marines aspect of the Brass Stampede. Sons of Cerberus still possible, but Fangs of Cerberus or Jaws of Cerberus are sounding much cooler to me right now. I think rather than worship of a daemon directly, I think I decided to steal an idea from Talon of Horus wherein the entire warband of traitor wolves is possessed in unison by a greater daemon of Khorne known as Cerberus. I'll get to writing fluff about it one day, but for now that idea sustains me.

I've also decided to scrap the Shadowborne for now. Shame because I spent the money on those custom transfers, but I really don't think the spider iconography fits with a Khorne theme. Maybe one day I'll start a Dark Eldar army, where the image would fit right in.

I'm going to have the 20 berzerkers, and 30 marines riding in 3 rhinos. The 1st squad of 10 was more or less finished about 2 years ago but I haven't taken any photos of them. They're sort of a commando theme dual wielding boltguns and pistols. The other 2 squads are going to look very similar to each other, using mostly the same helm and armor elements.

Here is an aspiring champion from one of the Fangs of Cerberus squads:

Impressive work on the Traitor Marines and the cultists.

Many thanks!

Here's another. I have a little greenstuff work to do on his left wrist, but I'm happy with the result:

Guessing the shoulderpad skull is from thon SW torso ? Made a DW member with that part last night if I'm correct...... Good stuff, anyhoo.

From the SW pack kit, yeah. It has a rounded loop attached that I shaved off, as well as some of the underside of the skull so it fit the rounded contour of the pauldron. I think I'll put another on the other aspiring champion when I make the other squad.

The last 4 in the unit of 10. This unit has been a blast to build.

These 3 are the closest to done:

This is the last marine, needs shoulder pads and accessories:

And I fiddled with this dude a bit. Not sure why he wasn't kneeling flat on the ground with his left leg. Perhaps I glued him together at a strange angle or something. Anyway, nothing some cork didn't fix:

Here's a group shot of the 10. I'm thinking of naming the champion Numenor. Lord of the Rings reference, there. Thus, the 10-man squad is known as "Numenor's Fang." Similar to the way loyalist SW have packs, the Fangs of Cerberus have... fangs! I'm so creative. *chuckle*

And here's the champion for the second unit. I think I'm gonna steal a former aspiring champion's name and call him Sarkon. As you may guess, Sarkon is a big fan of fighting in challenges:
