Mithrilforge
Thanks for the welcomes, @rashbold -glad to see your getting into it there with your vow. Don't worry, the pic is the only thing i'm stealing from you but from now on i'll use this one SW1 - is that a lamp light from the city terrain set? ...very ingenious if it is! and is that a Stormtrooper er i mean scion head? Im going on the family holiday in a couple days so adding how late in the month it is i may have to use Sept as my "Siesta" month, but will hope to be putting together part of my October vow whilst i'm away (that is if Mithril Jnr lets me sneak in some model time ) Cheers, Mithril Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313067-a-tale-of-18-hobbyists/page/7/#findComment-4173793 Share on other sites
SW1
@Mithril - it is the light bit of the free standing lamp light from the cities of death scenery kit. I noticed it was nearly the same diameter and slapped it on. The hardest bit was getting the cut square. :tu: And I still call storm troopers by the correct name. It's one of the stormies heads that I couldn't find a use for previously. Stormies have berets no matter what. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313067-a-tale-of-18-hobbyists/page/7/#findComment-4173879 Share on other sites
SW1
In the cold light of the morning I'm having second thoughts on the colour. Will have to see what it looks like with some more colour on it. GhostMalone
Updated to this point: Now as a sneak peak at a later months vow "Let Justice Be Done, Though the Heavens Fall" is the English translation of the the Latin phrase "Fiat justitia ruat caelum", which signifies the belief that justice must be realized regardless of consequences. If anyone can figure out what I have planned I'll be quite impressed. Also on that note after this event I'll be looking for some people wishing to help me in a project to come forward but this is still a long time to come. Now we're moving closer to the end of the month so hopefully we see helterskelters Storm blade finished soon and all the other goodies we've had a peak at progress closer to the finished mark Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313067-a-tale-of-18-hobbyists/page/7/#findComment-4174015 Share on other sites

SW1
Ah ... The Emperors executioners aka SW's? NovemberIX
I'm gonna guess it's a Cerberus Tank Destroyer because what's heavier than a Neutron! Lets go ahead and get this show on the road though, there's gonna be a lot of pics. So the original plan was to have the Deredeo done and the Contemptor playing catch up. That is until the last two nights happened. Starting off are some bases, The Contemptor base came first, I grabbed a random textured GW made base and did the usual sand and chains thing to cover up it's origins. Yesterday I did stop by my local GW, but they weren't carrying 80mm bases, and my take was I could give making one a try. I'm gonna have to consider how much I like it once the clay hardens completely. The flight base is gonna be for an upcoming project that I know is gonna need a very steady base. I think it's fairly obvious the Contemptor didn't get the Captain Morgan pose I was originally going for. It's maybe a sorta power walk.... On the shoulder is an attempt to freehand a small design, I don't think I'm sold on it yet. I do like the checks though! So depending on how long it takes for the base to dry, the Deredeo will have to be up next! Ordo Machinum
Nothing painted yet as I am saving that for last. Still, I am happy to be building. Pulled an all-nighter and sprained a cog, but here is my second Vanguard squad assembled:Rushing the assembly had its downside; a lot of extra filing and clipping once the models were assembled.A few messy spots from gluing, also filed and cleaned as much as possible.Overall, it was psychologically worth it to see them built, but if I was going for more than a table top quality I would be a bit disappointed. Also, corrected my "status report" to show a vowed Ballistarii, NOT a Dragoon yet.Ciao,R. SW1
Not sure how I'm basing my army so going to call this done for now ... Hopefully the blue of the gun and the purple of the eyes doesn't clash too much. Think the eyes are a bit washed out in the pic as IRL they are a more vibrant purple.
