My first instinct is to say a typical Indian attitude with a general pride of the legion on top. Except I have no idea what the typical attitude of Indians are.

Let's go with soft curiosity with a hefty dose of pride, mixed in with matter-of-fact acceptance of the current situation (does that make sense?). Sauhan typically has a long view of life and is more curious about what it would look like 'when' the Emperor returns to the Great Crusade and Alex is no longer commander-in-chief. Does he retain Warmaster as his title? How will his brothers treat him then compared to now? Etc...

The thing is, it's difficult to think of "Indians" as "Indians" for a greater part of their history, in particular medieval period. As bluntblade proposes, go with the Mughal period, as I believe that's when an "Indian Identity" really starts to impose itself.

There are also a variety of exotic weapons that come from the Indian sub-continent, so this is the perfect time to explore some of them too. The Tulwar might be your best bet, or perhaps the Khanda/Farangi ? These seem to have been rather common, and it might look better for a general character then the Pata (however the Pata might be very nice for Mahtva). If you want any clues about Indian weapons, scholagladiatoria has a few videos about some of them.

The Mughal Empire looks promising as a source, but given the Dune Serpents draw quite heavily on Middle Eastern culture and the Mughal were Muslims, the Maratha Empire might be more appealing.

Apart from anything else, they had some serious bling:

I went looking for names for the three continents/society that make up Delos, but didn't see any. Do you have any in mind?

Space India, Space Macedonia, & Space Germany

In other words, not really.

Quick note: Of the ten legates, 2 are Greek, 2 are Indian, 2 are German (Irvin Ruel included as the highest of them), 1 Latin, 1 American, and the remaining two are unknown to allow future players to create their own.

You know, the more I see this model for Little Horus the more I like it:

Is there room for a shooty character in the Halcyon Wardens? With those laurels (if you liked the idea of them wearing the laurel in place of the Aquila), it'd fit pretty well for a Terran like Tannhäuser. Perhaps one that's ascended to the rank of Legate.

Come to think of it, the laurel could be restricted to Legates and senior captains, showing that they act in the name of the Warmaster.

Also, to add to Marassa I suggest the other continents be named Corinthia and Teutobria.

Given the emphasis on diversity, it'd be very easy to have a shooty Warden, even a Legate. There are still 6 more to become known.

Good stuff. I've been working largely on melee specialists so far, and wanted to balance things out a little.

While the Ark Reach story is just getting off the ground, so far I've got the Wardens concluding that Alex doesn't want them to drastically change their behaviour, and take heart from the fact that he's worrying about the overall Crusade rather than them. How the Dune Serpents and Lightning Bearers will see it is another matter, of course.

Oooh, could we have our first "canon" Captain to wield a Heavy Weapon, Devastator-style?

Sure. If you want, feel free to pick the name. I have over 200 unnamed captains, and 8 unnamed Legates.

Hmm, I was going to but now I'm having second thoughts, I'm wondering if maybe a Dev Captain would better suit another, more firepower-focused legion like the Fire Keepers. What do you guys think, stick with the Warmaster's own or look elsewhere?

I know it's not quite the thread to discuss this, but... what about an Artillery Captain for the Warbringers ?!

Sounds good. Go pitch it in the Warbringers thread.

There are different heavy weapons to use and shoot with. The Fire Keepers could have the first Dev captain with a heavy flamer or multi-melta, while the Wardens have the first heavy bolter/volkite weapon.

I think volkite belongs to Athrawes. But a warden with a heavy bolter....ratataaratratrarata... Nice pic

Good point.

I think Captain Tannhäuser could be a good choice for a Devastator captain. It also occurs to me that his first name should be Rutger.

Wasn't he supposed to be one of the elite tank commanders?

Double-checked, and no, he was the tank commander type, and I reserved him as such.

I do like the idea of a captain wielding a unique lascannon though. Don't think that's been done before.

No worries. It occurred to me that Devastator status would upend my original storm bolter idea, so I have no objections.

Any ideas for who our Devastator captain might be? If not, how does Captain Vasilios, rocking the Stinger, sound?
