It is an awesome sculpt. I'm curious as to what kind of grip does his pistol have? I remember someone bringing that up when the Primarch was revealed. It doesn't seem to have a pistol grip but something more in line with pistols from the 1700s  where it was a handle.

Tamiya clear blue/green applies, washed with thinned guilliman blue.

You can just about see the plasma blaster grip, it’s more of a pistol grip when compared to the terminator version of the weapon. Fitting that a primarch carries a plasmer blaster like a pistol!

Alpharius is looking damn fine! I’m pretty stoked to see you painting him up and looking forward to more. Also, will you be painting up his victim and if so which legion colors?

And thanks for the shot of his weapon. I had just been curious as to what the grip looked like.

Great progress so far, such a fantastic sculpt.

Thanks Pearson, I’m going to take my time painting him, although, he’s already jumped the painting queue!

His victim is on the scenic part of the base, I’m planning to use it for another dreadnought base, either another leviathan or a deredeo, can’t quite decide which! The victim will be an iron hands legionary.

This guy will be the last thing I do for my beloved loyal loyal snek bretheren. Can't wait to see how yours does when it's finished Cadmus !

Cheers Trixie, I hope you don’t have to wait too long!

So, a little update to finish the evening!

I find I work best when I have several projects running side by side. When I get bored painting I build something, when I’m fed up with building I airbrush a project. It seems to keep me engaged with the hobby.

Since playing custodes I have felt the need for some seekers and plan on adding three squads of five to my alpha legion. They will also double as headhunters, if I ever decide to handicap myself and use the headhunter leviathanal RoW.

I love the Mk3 kit, it has so much character, I wasn’t sure it would suit an alpha legion seeker squad. But I think the end result works. I imagine they are an asset infiltrated into a key world decades before the Heresy breaks out, hence the old armour mark. Plus seekers are always on the front line, so MK3 seems to make some sense. I also think it adds to the arrogance of the alpha legion, “look at us, we can infiltrate marines in mk3 armour, who needs mk6”

Any way, let me know what you think:

C&C welcome!

The mkIII suit goes well with the idea of seekers, like they are just heavily armoured killers that just go straight for the enemy HQ in a battle and don't care about incoming fire.

Exactly!

They look great and mark 3 armor fits them well. The extra bionics on the helm really knock them out of the Park!

Cheers mate, yeah I needed something special for the Mk3 heads. I used pieces from the anvil industry night vision scope, really nice scope!

Excellent work, they look unified, but still retain individuality despite their simularities.

Thanks!

Looking good, especially the cloaks. The extra optical gear help to emphasise their more specialised role.

Cheers Pearson, the cloaks take a while but they’re worth the effort.

I thought I would share a quick snap of my progress with alpharius:

Still WIP, metallics are pretty much done, just needs detailing and some major work on his cloak!

What do you think so far?

The extra optics on the helmets look great. Are they made from Anvilindustry bits? Are those Forgeworld Combi-plasmas?

Cheers Quixus, yeah they are cut down from the new thermal scopes with a little plastic rod:

They are indeed forgeworld combiplasmas, I’m going to convert the combi flamers to plasmas with some spare plastic Tigrus combi weapon bits.

Thanks for looking!

  • 2 weeks later...

Took the Glaive on her first outing last night, thought I would post a few pictures to commemorate the engagement:

She clocked up a significant kill count, two greyslayer squads, one veteran squad, contemptor and a heavy support squad. Infantry just seem to evaporate.....

Work slowly progresses on alpharius, hopefully I’m doing the sculpt justice:

Just a bit more work on his backpackand base, then it’s onto weathering.

Cadmus

Evening all,

I’m in two minds posting this up, my version of alpharius is done and dusted! But I’m pretty sure Kizz will outshine me with his completed Alpharius very soon!

I am Alpharius!
