Got the armor all done and based the the the shoulder black. Also touched up the sgts crest and shield. Still a lot of work to do, the marine to the right of the sgt is complete, all the others guys will have a very similar scheme. Slightly different applications of blacks and the yellow/silver metallics. A8848B93-030F-4B40-8D7A-1EEB56A336CF.thumb.jpeg.86b614cc2e70a767b85eab1b21113780.jpegimage.thumb.jpg.419620a0626bb96c7d3c6a7f8f9e1435.jpg

Bonus: here’s another scheme I tried before settling on the gray/green and black DC0B1E5D-693B-4DA0-9D66-7E2B4294F21F.thumb.jpeg.1854c3a8b52d407bd38d01ade79b8b55.jpeg

Yeah the orange looked better in my head haha.  In practice it didn’t go down like I wanted it to. My goal was more of a turquoise than bright blue color, and it does look more green in person, but After sitting on it for a few days, I decided I didn’t like the color for a whole army and scrapped the idea

That's the reason those testmodels are such a great tool. I painted up a whole extended Necromunda team, A Seraphon army and some Imp Knights before I realised I don't like their scheme at all.

A little off topic, but this came across my facebook memories right now

7 years ago I found B&C because I got this codex. I don’t remember what I googled but I saw a post on this forum, a call to find all the limited DA codices. I made an account to share and I’ve been here since then. Thanks to whoever made that post. I love it here.

No painting today, but decided to get this big guy out and finally start building him for the painting competition. Also tried out some head swaps and removed the cowl from the Gravis captain

anyone have tips on how to build the Contemptor ? I have the pose in mind, but how do y’all keep him “together” when assembly since super glue isn’t very forgiving

More work on the career progression marine.

since time is a little tight I decided to work on a redemptive dread. He’s 60% done. He has the same heraldry shield as the master

Finished Hope of Liamane, the redemptor dreadnought of the 3rd Century of Cohort Leonus

I’ve also given him a name, Srokthoks. Here you can see his career progression from a hell blaster sgt, centurion, and dreadnought.  I’m excited to get these guys painted up soon.

Going to finish the other squad of beakies first then do these guys

Got all the black done (I think) and started with some of the Metallics on these 4 guys. Also decided to hit the claw since that was quick l. Still a lot to go

Mate, the work on that Redemptor is freakin' brutal! Love all the Necron bits.

Considering your issues with the Contemptor, I usually take hours to figure out a pose with PosterTac. It doens't last long, so when I'm happy I glue one leg on the base, then the next. When you have the legs solid, I usually glue the arms to the torso and Postertac the rest together until the end.

Thank you everyone! I’m glad the mercon bits worked out. This guy had already broken at the able from when my daughter thought he was a toy, so it was the perfect candidate. I have a few extra bits I *MIGHT* add to the other guys to tie them in but I’ll see.

and ok I’ll keep that in mind GRC, I’ll pick some up today and see if I can try to mimic what I have in mind for him.

Be prepared, because the insane amount of points of articulation, it's best to glue those legs as fast as possible. I just use the tac to get a feel of the pose. For painting I only bluetac the waist, head and powerpack.

Well I’m finally settled into my new home and finally got started on the dread that was part of my entry for the competition. Still so much to go but I think I’ve reached a good stopping point for tonight

So I think the dreadnought is finished. I’m very proud of the plasma, and with the mini overall.

i just started the shoulder scarabs to test the scheme I wanted out. Super happy with them!!75ED1397-BFE4-4751-8403-1A8CB65E40F8.thumb.jpeg.924d31a3bc1585c72f0c89d14a7a93ff.jpeg

in other news… I spilled my warp lightning :cry:it was almost brand new too 38C6A857-0A66-410B-9E92-A3610DB20B12.thumb.jpeg.df218b95fe8e1e566d9af9d6632d4057.jpeg

Weird, I thought I had already posted a comment in here...

Your dread looks great, buddy! Time for the finishing touches. The Warp Lightning is a tragedy, that's quite the amount of money spilled over there. I usually have big washbrush handy to decant my spilled liquids back into their pot. Grotsmasha's suggestion has saved my pots of washes countless times!

Thanks for the suggestion! Ill be getting a few of those next pay period.

and thanks GRC, hopefully I can finish the dread next weekend on my days off. This month  my local group did a 40mm base or smaller painting competition. Due date was today by 6pm local time… I started at 430am  4 hour tops for miniature, base not considered for competition. This is my submission to that contest, a Lion Guard Terminator in the new colors. Total time 1:47 for the whole thing. I’m super proud of it and I’m glad my black doesn’t look lifeless
