The Red Sorcerers of Prospero: Exiles of Osiris

Athrawes, how much more do you plan on adding to the army? Also, do you reckon you might add some less conventional units, like Assault Marines? I've never seen any Thousand Sons set up that way, is there fluff that says they can't be?

 

Well, Basically what I have left to build and paint are:

 

10 Tartaros Terminators

 

3 Librarians

 

4 Tartaros Command Chosen

 

8 Legion Veterans + Rhino

 

10 Heavy Support Legionaires with Missile Launchers

 

The Stormbird.

 

Once that is all complete, I'm going to call the army done, allowing for Magnus, and Legion specific units from Inferno. There is not much more I feel I need to add to the Army. I had a bug for a while to complete a 20 man Assault squad all with combat shields for the Sons, but If I ever get around to that it will be the last thing I do.

 

The army is already a lot Larger than I had intended it to be, but The scheme is just so satisfying to paint. My goal is to have everything listed above finished by January 12th. That the 1 year anniversary of starting this army, and I personally think it would be pretty cool to have completed something like 6000 points from scratch in a single year, painted to a decent tabletop quality.

Usually only the Sorcerors of he TS are so characterful but each of these models feels like an individual.i can't wait to finish painting my dudes (as I've said for the past 4 years lmao) so we can take full blown, fully painted army standoff pictures. Keep up the good work

Just stumbled across this and was reading from the start, since I've been looking for potential inspiration for my own thousand sons 40k force but with a heresy vibe to it, and couldn't help but think "how awesome would it be if he did the 40k thousand sons with the new kits" ,then I came across you talking bout using the new ones for veterans.

A YEAR IN EXILE

 

A Year Ago today, I started my Thousand Sons project Log. It began with 3 quickly painted models testing the Metallic red scheme from Forgeworld, and the vague goal to complete a Zone Mortalis force  by the time Inferno was released (at that point rumored fall 2016).

 

I was caught up in the excitement of their beautiful new color scheme, the first Thousand sons release from Forgeworld with their upgrade pack, and my new gift of my first airbrush and the release of plastic heresy from Betrayal at Calth.

 

In Hindsight, I should have realized that these 4 things combined were the perfect storm to encourage me, not only to start an army but finish a large portion in a single year. But then, I'm no Corvidae.

 

Today I'd like to show you where my army stands. And where I plan to go from here.

 

First, here are the models that I have been feverishly working on to complete by this looming date:

Looking Forward

 

 

I have completed a lot, but there are still many things that need to be completed before I call this army "done"

 

On my workbench currently are

• the last 4 Scarab Occult (count as Terminator Command Squad)
• 10 Man Proteus Missile Heavy Support Squad
• 10 Man Tataros Terminator Squad
• Cerberus Heavy Tank Destroyer
• Complete the Stormbird.

 

I'm hopping to have these units completed (in this order) in time for a Large 30k Apocalypse game at the end of February.

 

In addition to what is listed above, I will undoubtably be adding Magnus, and each of the Legion specific units to the army once they are released, and I am really looking forward to Inferno in a month or so, and I'm excited to have a nearly completed Thousand Sons army ready for the tabletop once Inferno Drops.

 

I Also rewarded myself for Christmas with a custom set of Thousand Sons dice. Since I know that Forgeworld will inevitably release a set of XV Legion dice with the starburst symbol, I decided to go an alternate route for my dice. In place of the six I have represented each of the 5 cults of Prospero, The Athanaean, Corvidae, Raptora, Pavoni and Pyrae.
