Hey folks!

Not much to say, preparing for the ETL! There will be some Angron and some Perturabo, a squad of Iron Warriors and a squad of Blood Angels, a few consuls and even some Veterans and Breachers! Let's get this :censored: rollin'!

But on another note, here are some WiP's of my Space Wolf :smile.:

http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp194/hodoalmir/20160612_002153_zpsdvbxsdkp.jpg

As you can see, I've opted for a pale grey colour instead of the pidgeon-gray of older publications or the horrid blueish abomination that is the GW scheme.

Would like to hear your opinions! :)

So long brethren and sisters! Rise to the ETL!

So you are vowing for the ETL then? Exciting times! Just make sure you do it quickly though! You only have 4 more days to declare your vow! :tu:

I very much like the color you've chosen for the Space Wolf, very pretty. If I was ever doing puppies, I'd definitely go with something akin to what you've chosen.

Hello folks!

@The Psycho: Vowed as of today, a truckload of stuff comming, and if all goes well there will even be a knight or two  Thanks for the compliments, especially from someone as talented as you!

@Fenris Kid: Sure! It's a basecoat of Vallejo Air Primer Black, then with GW Standard Mechanicus Grey Airbrushed over it and then a 1:1 mix of SMG and White Scar, then just a slight mist of White Scar. All is then washed with a 1:1:3 Mix of Nuln Oil, Agrax Earthshade and Lahmian Medium. Hope that helps :smile.:

@Kizzdougs: Thanks very much! I enjoy every bit of painting him, just a day or two

So lads, what did I vow?

Oh boy, do I have some stuff for you...

I, The Observer, satrap of the Warmaster, Protector of Terra declare myself oathed to the holy cause

May our enemies shiver and our allies be steadfast

By my name, by my honour, 'tis I swear

1x Perturabo, Sire of the Iron Warriors with Forgebreaker = 490 Points
1x Angron, Sire of the World Eaters = 400 Points
1x Centurion with the Primus Medicae Upgrade, Artificier Armour and a Refractor Field = 105 Points
1x Centurion with the Herald Upgrade and Artificier Armour = 100 Points
1x Legion Tactical Squad with a Nuncio Vox and the Sergeant armed with a Combi-Weapon and Artificier Armour = 180 Points
1x Legion Veteran Squad with a Heavy Bolter and Suspensor Web and a Sergeant with a Power Fist, Artificier Armour and a Plasma Pistol = 185 Points
1x Legion Command Squad with Two(2) additional marines, combat shield for each of the five and 3 Powerweapons = 195 Points

and a Out-Of-Competition-Entry: a half squad of Assault Marines(No points as it does not count).

All in all: 1655 Points!

A note on the Command Squad: There is no actual Banner in that squad as ordained by the LACAL entry. I have instead opted out to give them Breacher Shields (Which also serve for all purposes of Combat Shields), which will sport the livery of the Iron Warrior Legion and Horus himself. There is also a Melta armed Astartes in that squad, he serves as the banner bearer for all game purposes and the Melta has not been listed in any points related manner as a command squad cannot take such guns.

And now for some pics.

:blush.:  Oh, stop it, you. I think we both know you're leagues more talented than one such as I, in terms of pure writing and modeling ability. Thanks for the compliment ;)

Well, the stuff you're doing for ETL looks right peachy. Is that a Cataphractii head I see on Perturabo? I'm particularly fond of the command squad and the assault squad, they'll look amazing painted up. And the possibility of some Knights? I can't wait to see it all, buddy! :tu:

Mornin' Guys!

@The Psycho: Don't undersell yourself like that, your stuff is amazing! :smile.: It's actually a contemptor head on Perturabo (Death Guard one I believe), because, while I love the sculpt, his noggin' is just ugly as sin!

@Noigrim: Doing that as we speak, finishing up the WiP

Now for some WiP of Blood and Iron!

Just thought I'd point out that putting the point costs for unit upgrades, etc isn't allowed on the B&C so you might want to edit that out and just keep the total unit costs (ie. "Tactical Squad with melta bombs, heavy bolter, and flamer -> 160 pts"). :)

Anyway back to your models! The Iron Warriors are looking especially good! Looking forward to seeing more. :tu:

Oh, and the Space Wolf looks great! I really like the armour colour you've gone for. However the reds look a bit flat, the cape especially. Is that just the picture/camera/lighting or actually on the model?

Thanks for the responses guys!

@Fenbain: Thank you very much! I have the recipe written down, though not at hand, and half of it is re-improvised from figure to figure. I will be posting a tutorial, so time permits, though! :)

@2gud2bbad: I asume you mean the diamond-spiked ones? If so, then yes! Awesome sculpts and have never had issues.

@Big Bad Squig: Thanks bud! Long live the heresy! ;)

@Brother Dallo: Hah I wish! But no, it's the new Mars Pattern Heavy Bolter set from Forge World :) https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-DE/Mars-Pattern-Heavy-Bolters-Set

@Dosjetka: Blimey, thanks for that, must've overlooked it, gonna change it in the strategium too. Thanks for the compliments too! Just you wait 'til the breacher-chosen squad gets work on ;) Concerning the Space Wolf, as written when I posted him further up, it's still a WiP and the red and gold are still unfinished^^ SHould be finished in a few day though!

Anyways, there won't be any updates today probably as I have to finish a paper on Lovecraft first, but alas do not despair, for the Iron shall return!

IV: We stand. We fall. We rise again.

"March my warriors. March beyond death, for you are the true iron. You shall never rust nor break. Unbendable you will be. Unlauded no more."

-Perturabo, The Eve before the Siege

http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp194/hodoalmir/20160619_172235_zpsykwejopi.jpg

Legionary Nenad, Veteran-Squad Ossuk, 19th Company “The Felrain”

"Die, filthy son of Dorn. Die knowing that we proke your 'impregnable' fortress. Die as the failure your lot always was."

-Nenad, forcing a dying Imperial Fist to witness the Great Breach

Nenad has been an Olympian soldier of remarkable service. One of the first inductees to come from Perturabo's homeworld, he rose quickly through the ranks and after the Massacre at Bradu IV he was invited to join the ranks of veterans. His service has been unmarred by failure, going even so far as to be awarded one of Vynurvo's hand-crafted bolters, as marked by the vertical hazard-striping on the case. Before the outbreak of the Heresy, Nenad's propensity of using his bolter one-handed had been frowned upon by Iron Warriors that weren't part of "The Felrain". This was not unexpected, as the IVth was quite rigid when it came to rules and structure. Fascinatingly enough, Warsmith Uragan did not only tolerate individual modification of arms and fighting-styles, he encouraged it. Therefore men like Nenad were not rare, which earned this company Perturabo's watchful eye, but Uragan led his men to great victories. Despite scorn coming from men like Forrix and Golg, "The Felrain" would be one of the very few companies that did not get permanently stationed at a garrison world, but would keep on crusading and killing the filth between the stars.

http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp194/hodoalmir/20160619_171956_zpswucj3cpk.jpg

Legionary Vorl, Veteran-Squad Ossuk, 19th Company “The Felrain”

"It feels good to be back home. Same old, war-torn wasteland it used to be."

-Vorl, crossing the K'rn Goran hills

Part of the last Terran batch of inductees before launching the Crusade to the stars, Vorl witnessed the last pacifications of K'rn Gora as a child. Where many were scared of the Emperor's warriors, he chose to approach them, curiosity winning over the fright caused by the hulking statues. This could have proven fatal for the small child, many were immolated or torn to pieces for simply looking at the encampments. However, the first man Vorl would encounter was Warsmith Uragan, back then known as Centurio-Primus Uragan. A giant even among his own kin, he had knelt down and talked to the child while all his brethren had pointed their carbines at the boy. The smiling and giggling child pulled, or so it thought, all by itself this huge warrior to the small collection of huts and sheds that belonged to his tribe. Only by his finger! Little did the boy know, that he would not see his family and tribe after that day.

Now Vorl is an accomplished soldier, trainer to new despoiler-inductees and favoured soldier of the warsmith. Vorl would prove especially efficient as a bodyguard to his superiors and sergeants, earning himself the hazard-striping featured on his helmet. He would survive the failed Siege of Terra and ascend to the ranks of the tyrannoi, satraps to his warsmith, and gain the right to cloak himself in terminator armour.

http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp194/hodoalmir/20160619_171910_zpsyt2vauiz.jpg

Legionary Jarevan, Veteran-Squad Ossuk, 19th Company “The Felrain”

Jarevan's path was not an easy one. Born a cripple, he would have been fated to death at the hands of the Genetors, had it not been for his immaculate results in gene-seed compatibility. A graft was made for his missing arm, but it would never fully heal, instead ichoring and inflaming itself every now and then. A few years into his service, he would loose his arm to a Klachanii desert-scarab, which netted him his iron augmentation. This time, the wound healed in a matter of days and the calibration process even finished in a few hours, which would lead to his brethren joking about Jarevan being one of the Gorgon's own. Indeed, his mind and temper seemed much becalmed after the loss of his limb, although this might be traced back to Jarevan's phisiology finally leaving a constant state of mild fevers and dropping the necessity of spooning out ichor every day.

Whatever the case, Jarevan is a distinguished marksman, spending much of his time with Setar of squad Antem on modifying guns and armour to better suit their needs. The upwards pointing chevrons on his right shoulder are an indicator of Jarevan's prowess in assault, which is where he indeed does shine. During the Siege of Terra Jarevan earned himself an impressive tally of heads before being gunned down by White Scars. His body would be retrieved and fashioned into a Bellator Morioris by Magos Vynurvo, one of the feared "undead astartes" that roamed the space of the Heresy.

Legionary Boris, Veteran-Squad Ossuk, 19th Company “The Felrain”

"I am no man of big words. I am a man of big guns, however."

                                                               -Boris sharing banter with Setar

Boris, a typical son of eastern Olympia, is the oldest living member of his squad. Beginning his career amongst the devastator squads of his legion, he quickly discovered the heavy bolter to be his fair maiden. While he was awarded with sergeancy in his squad, it became quickly apparent that he had no talent as a leader. Uragan, however, was not willing to denote the man back into the rank-and-file, so he awarded him with a veteran's rank. While some called this decision risky, even borderline idiotic, they were all proven wrong. Boris blossomed within the flexible veteran structure, revealing a quick and sharp mind when running underneath the friendly ordonance and clearing out trenches and forts with his trusty mars-pattern heavy bolter.

While many legions restocked their weaponry with patterns from Mars in frequent intervals, the IVth did not. They acquired instead the greatest initial stockpile of armaments and weaponry, as the favoured legion of that time, which lasted them well into the Heresy even. Boris' heavy bolter is infact one of those weapons that would later on become a vaunted relic of his company, following him into the 13th Black Crusade.

http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp194/hodoalmir/20160619_172149_zpsidfhwi0s.jpg

Veteran-Sergeant Lehrek, Veteran-Squad Ossuk, 19th Company “The Felrain”

"The wall is breached! I repeat: THE WALL IS BREACHED!"

-Lehrek, first to proclaim the breach over the vox

A grim and staunch Olympian, Lehrek was one of the most favoured sergeants in his company. His brazen helmet was forged by Warsmith Uragan and anointed by Magos Vynurvo, a symbol of his valour and important role in the taking of Nonad II where he managed to kill the local xenos nobility in a matter of hours. Interesting is his mixture of armaments, the helm being a clan-private variation of the pattern that surfaced in many legions. The chest armour is a modified Barbarus-Mk III-pattern, awarded for his long service with the Death Guard and outfitted with an intern vox-transmission system. His plasma-pistol is a standard Ryza-pattern variant of the second generation, while his powerfist is a product of the infamous forge of Xana, a long term ally to the 19th company. The fist features pronounced claws that increase the chance of puncturing armour by at least 0,238%, but were, according to Vynurvo, made in order to strike fear into the heart of the enemy by evoking pictures of demons and beasts of old legends.

Interesting is Lehrek's role in the oral history of the traitors. Sevatar is known for uttering the horrific words "Death to the false Emperor" as the first person in Imperial history and Lehrek is known as the first traitor to see and report the first breach in the palace's walls. His roar was broadcasted across all of Terra, into the ears of all traitors. For this the sergeant would become a legend in the Eye, even after falling during the third Black Crusade on some backwater planet.

Hey folks, here are some of the almost finished pics of my veteran squad. Just have a few bits and bobs to finish, but its almost all there! :)

Hope you like them and have a nice day!

@Brother Pheidias: Right?? The Iron Lord even refused to have windows build into his ship (Structural weaknesses and such), so why the flipping hell would he walk around with his noggin' ripe for snipers to feast on? Glad you like it! :)

@The Psycho: Thanks mate! Yeah I agree, Boris is my favorite from the lot (There is just something to the mars pattern HB...) :smile.:

@Brother-Captain Arkhan: Thanks a bunch! Your work has been very inspiring for me, both your Ultramarines and your Istvaan thread. Keep up the good work! :biggrin.:

Now, as promised, some WiP's of The Lord of Iron

C&C is, as always, very welcome.

IV: When the Shells fell
.............................................................................................
http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp194/hodoalmir/20160717_234816_zpsr9sfw9to.jpg
Legionary Buhrak, Veteran-Breacher Squad Orion, 19th Company “The Felrain”

"Death. It's all we bring. It's all we offer. No redemption. No truce. No peace. No remorse."

-Buhrak, private Log-book aboard the Heliodan

As with any revolution, there were doubts. As with any change, there were disbelievers. Buhrak, drafted from some by now forgotten planet, had witnessed Perturabo's first order. The Grand Decimation. A regular breacher then, Buhrak had snapped his brother's neck like a dry twig while looking him into reddened eyes. The first seed of doubt, always scraping against his soul and heart, making him question everything he did for his father.

After almost 127 years of immaculate service, Buhrak was inducted into the ranks of the Aspiida, the veteran-breacher formations often utilized as offensive command-squads by the upper echelons of the 19th Company. His doubts he had shared with no living soul, maybe out of fear, maybe out of pragmatism. After all, a good soldier does not question, now does he?

Depicted here we see him with his preferred melta-gun, Incindé, a gift from the IIIrd legion as a sign of respect and brotherhood in the Culling of Gangava. On his knee one can see the downward pointing chevrons so typical for Iron Warriors lauded for bravery in the assault. Indeed, the 19th Company rarely utilized its breachers as defensive formations but heavily armoured assault units at the very front, even outside of the horrendous Zone Mortalis battlezones.

Buhrak would never leave Terra, his remains bisected by a lone Custodian within the Arakkat Hall in the Western Palace.

http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp194/hodoalmir/20160717_234945_zpsnmuz06ku.jpg
Legionary Karo, Veteran-Breacher Squad Orion, 19th Company “The Felrain”

"Morals and Ethics are shackles and clutches made by men to weak to claim what they desire."

-Karo while executing a Solar Auxilia Officer

All legions had their stereotypes. The taciturn Dark Angels, the howling Vlka Fenryka, the flamboyant Emperor's Children and so on and so forth. Of the Iron Warriors it was always said that they were unimaginative, brooding and simple, yet reliable tools. It is a fallacy to make such sweeping statements about myriads of soldiers, but in some very rare cases such descriptions fit like a glove. One such case would be Karo.

A man devoid of ambition, innovative thought or deeper introspection, this Olympian is naught more but a tool. His lack of cultural and emotional discourse amongst his brethren made him an alien to his company. Curious, one might say, aren't all Iron Warriors supposed to be men devoid of deeper thoughts or any kind of artistic expression? Yes and no. The IVth is the artisan of war and arithmetics. They are smiths, writers and thinkers in so many ways. The difference lies in the outward expression of these talents. The Blood Angels, Salamanders and Emperor's Children bear their craftmanship on their armour, the Iron Warriors within layer upon layer of armour. One has only to look towards lord Uragan's armour. An optically crude and raw slab of iron, yet within are hidden mechanisms to parallel and challenge most examples of personal protection. The Iron Warrior turns pragmatism into art, simplicity into tasteful minimalism. But, I fear I digress.

Karo was a man lacking most of these qualities. He cleaned his arms meticulously, yet never did he tinker or strive to improve the tools given to him. Truth is, his position within Orion came only thanks to his endurance and prowess in the Engagement of the Ironfire, a spacehulk filled with orkoid beasts. There he had lost his right eye to a stray shard of steel, puncturing his occular globe in one swift motion.

Karo died on Terra, torn to shreds by a frenzied Blood Angel after Sanguinius fell.

http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp194/hodoalmir/20160717_235000_zpsst7nkfyj.jpg
Legionary Jarad, Veteran-Breacher Squad Orion, 19th Company “The Felrain”

"I don't hate you, Son of Dorn. Many of my brethren do, but I don't. It's war and we both are soldiers. It's simple and it's sad."

                                                                                                           -Jarad while slitting Gerhard's throat

Jarad was a kind soul, despite being born on Olympia. Though not talented at it, he enjoyed poetry and art, which made him a close friend to Setar. His own skills were restriced to the shooting range and the forge, where he constantly worked on his weaponry and armour day in and day out. After the atrocities that happened upon the face of Istvaan V, he was one of the astartes that assisted Archmagos Vynurvo and Uragan in repairing many of the company's battle-automata. Jarad managed to repair not one, but three Castellax hulls, which earned him his golden chestplate, a gift of rarely shown admiration from Vynurvo.

Indeed, after surviving the Great Siege, Jarad was drafted into the 19th Company's Praevian ranks. During the Siege itself he was commended for killing several Mechanicum support units and even disrupting a Warhound titan by focusing electro-magnetic bombardment onto the Ihkala Plaza. As with all members of the Aspiida, Jarad is a well-respected and renowned assault specialist. He earned his place amongst the Orion during the Siege of Emandura II, a noxious swamp of a planet riddled with tunnels and huge arachnids, resembling the Terran trapdoor-spider.

It is interesting to note that, although he was no poet, Jarad was a capable philosopher. He was one of the first Iron Warriors to entertain the tought of Moira Polemou, or War's Fate. A discourse concerning itself with the idea that one should not hate his enemies, especially former cousins and brethren, as they all, simple soldiers that they are, only follow orders. "Such is the call of war", Jarad had confided to Uragan, "We follow your orders Lord. We are not to hate. We are to obey."

http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp194/hodoalmir/20160717_235025_zpskywphjsa.jpg
Legionary Ihraim, Veteran-Breacher Squad Orion, 19th Company “The Felrain”

"He hasn't spoken for five decades. Not that much was lost that way, mind you."

                                                                                 -Sergeant Yannick, IIIrd Legion

Ihraim was one of the last children to leave Terra as a member of the IVth legion. As a child of Roma, he had grown up with pictures and sagas of humanities oldest heros. Heracles, Iason, Odyssean and the like clouded his mind as he made the holy transition from human to astartes. Honour meant a lot to him, so much as to even refusing to kill unnarmed civilians and enemies. Only once did he break his oaths of valour. The Decimation. After killing a freshly inducted boy, his mind had turned. A good, outspoken man became silent, morose and violent. Never again forsaking his private oaths, he threw himself into battle with shield and gladius.

The Battle of Horjeda, a particularly vile Zone Mortalis fight, his lower jaw was blasted away by a melta gun. Ihraim escaped death only narrowly, gutting the brave enemy with his bare hand. Back upon Uragan's ship, he was outfitted with state of the art synth-vocalizers, which he has yet refused to use, instead opting for simple gesticulation. As a sign of respect and gratitude for his long service, he was inducted into the ranks of the Aspiida and presented with a hand-crafted helm by Warsmith Uragan. The Warsmith knew his men well, so he gifted one of his best soldiers with a helm in the shape of old-Roman warriors.

http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp194/hodoalmir/20160717_234757_zpsyw1vror3.jpg

Veteran-Sergeant Eodan, Veteran-Breacher Squad Orion, 19th Company “The Felrain”

"Pity. I expected a bit more of a challenge."

-Eodan while bashing Khan Jogul's head in

Some men are brutal. Some men are effective. Eodan was both. One of the oldest members of the 19th Company, Eodan has seen many battles across all of the segmentums, from the Ghoul Stars to the Eldar Craftworlds, he was at the front. This attitude of sheer force and brutality has earned him the moniker of The Bloodied Shield, for he stood always at the side of his protegée, taking blow after blow for his lords. One of Uragan's favourite tales revolves around Eodan cleaving apart an Ork with his shield, as his sword was broken and cast away. This even was the specific inspiration for his moniker.

The mace in his hand was a treasure claimed from the black sands of Istvaan V, wrested from the cooling hands of an Iron Hand.

Eodan has always been noted for his arrogant and haughty attitude towards the human auxilia attached to his company. Something he has been reprimanded for time and time again. A very individualistic fighter, it is perhaps a bit perplexing just how Eodan has become one of the most popular bodyguards in his company, as one would expect him to seek out personal glory but no, he always remains steadfastly at his master's side. His disregard for personal safety once went so far that he lost his right arm in combat with an Eldar.

These qualities would, given time, earn him a place at Uragan's side as a Tyrannoi clad in ancient cataphractus-armour.

------------------------------------------------

Hey folks, long time no see!

Here is another unit finished for my ETL vow, still got a good bit to go, but nothing impossible. Next up are Angron and Perturabo, after that, some of dat sweet Blood Angels flavour.

C&C always welcome! :biggrin.:
