Alternative Sisters

Very slightly smaller scale of limbs, with the height seemingly identical. I doubt at 3 feet a casual observer would be able to tell the size differences.

Maybe after Christmas I'll get some. If a plastic sisters release is actually impending, then these seem like they could mix and match fairly well, unless they grossly changed the aesthetic.

Its enough that I'll notice, mainly as they are covered more in icongraphy then the regular sisters are.  But for kill team they are prefect

I just got my sisters from raging heros after almost 9 months. Just looking at them on the sprues compared to my sisters of silence They look a good bit smaller especially in the legs and torsos. Have to say not very impressed by them. Also tons of flash and very greasy. Just giving everyone a heads up incase you were looking to buy them.

My "War Maidens" have arrived to the postal service customs and waiting to be released.

Should have them by the end of the week.

50 War maidens (Sisters of Battle) plus some extra (due to late shipping from seller/manufacturer). Then the assembly starts. Though I need to order som heavy weapons from forge world so I have some options for the retributors.

I can second this, though TGG does include a card with the order with good instructions on how to clean them - they are aware of the greasyness. These are not sisters to bust out of the box and start playing within even a week. Flash cleans up easily and with near minimum effort, but do be aware of getting lazy as you clean it as many other parts, hands, bits etc. can easily be busted off. Still great stuff though.

Do you think the size is acceptable enough to use as alternates? Or are they like..WAY off? I was planning to use the girls with the mechanical wings as Seraphim squads.

The legs and torsos look to skinny and the height looks off. I would take size companion picture but I don't want to take one off the sprue to build. If you want pictures I can do that

Ok i did the best i could to try and match them up. i hope it helps. Looking at them as i took these pictures the arms, legs, torso and heads are smaller. i don't have the GW Saint Celestine to match to there version but ive seen the new saint model and it's much bigger. Again i'm just putting this information out there so people are aware.

It looks like they are just 28mm scale or whatever it was that Infinity has. It's not too much off. Sisters of Silence are bigger than regular sisters after all.

I'm thinking this is more or less "old news", but I thought I would share about my experience with Grishnak's "War Maidens". I ordered a set of 5 to check them out. Super easy to contact via email and got response same day. Sent payment via PayPal and they arrived almost exactly 3 weeks later (I live in Austin, Texas).

Excellent, excellent build quality. The details are crisp (FW level crisp) and tastefully done. One of the issues with some of the "alt Sisters" I've seen is they go overboard on details. Raging Hormones TGG are what I consider "hero" models. Grishnak's are actual "troop" models -- you could build an army out of these if you wanted to. I'm working on Celestine and her girls right now, after I clear my backlog I'll paint them up and see how it goes.

Oh, their instruction sheet is in English now. I guess they know what side their bread is buttered on.

I liked them so much I've ordered another set, and that's probably the highest praise I can give them.

Finished my first Grishnak War Maiden.

I must say that the model is really well put together. Nice details and a good size compared to a standard space marine.

Painting the model was easy too, as the details were so defined.

I would say that the War Maidens are on my top list of Sisters of Battle alternate models. Price is the same as GWs though. So if your looking for a cheaper version this isn't it. But if you want quality models then they are worth it.

Those do look nice, and I like the "relaxed" poses too. If I ever start a Sisters army or feel the need to get Sisters models for a 40K project I'll probably spring for the rumoured GW models, but for an INQ28 game those would be perfect.

After over 10 years of waiting for new Sisters of Battle models I have simply given up.

Though we did get St. Celestine and 2 of her bodyguards. These models are of high quality and standard, and in plastic! But... the detail level on these third party models are much higher, and I have a hard time believing GW will make better ones with their current plastic technique.

But, I am looking forward for plastic sisters from GW. I will no doubt buy them anyway :D

I've got 15 sisters partially assembled from de-xenofied Dark Eldar Scourge torsos and Eldar Guardian legs. I've got Death Company bolter arms and backpacks for them. Don't have heads yet. DC bolters are comically large on these, but fluff says Sororitas power armor helps increase their strength and I figure it would help tame the recoil of the large bolters. Backpacks are a little big as well, so I may trim them down some. I am not using space marine shoulder pads over the space marine arms, the wide shoulder of the space marine arm actually is a convincing large armored shoulder pad on the Dark Eldar torso.

I have 5 female heads from Mantic pathfinders, and they look pretty good, but I need them for my Mantic pathfinders. I haven't seen these available at bits stores.

I've thought about the bald chem mask heads from Victoria lamb, they look unisex to me from what I can see in the pictures. I've also considered their bald female heads and just use fluff to cover their lack of hair. Honestly, long flowing hair doesn't work well in combat which is why every modern military with female soldiers requires them to keep their hair up in combat. 4/5 of the Gutherie heads look good to me but there is one that looks really out of place, I also don't want to spend $1 per head.

I want to get some green stuff and make some tabbards, robes, and hoods for these. It will be a challenge, I've never really done any serious sculpting.
