The glowing sword effect is something special, really like it.

The result of a quick Sunday painting session, a chaos cultist. I've used a bunch of bits from the cultists, Militarum Tempestus Scions, Sicarian Infiltrators, and Neophyte Hybrids, but the paint job was straightforward and I didn't want to spend too much time on it.

What an inventive use of parts, excellent paint work too, particularly those blades.

Thanks! I ordered all kinds of kits across several factions and began throwing stuff together until I got a satisfying result. Was pretty fun.

This is very Blanchitsu. I LOVE it. Great conversions and great use of colours.

Yeah, it's the style I enjoy the most. Getting out the wet palette and going crazy without a plan or fancy techniques is right up may alley. Thanks!

Very cool. The orange sand of the base is a very nice contrast to midnight clad you got going on with Korros. Great job.

Thanks! Yeah I used to make bases with brown earth and grey slate but after a couple Unification Wars minis on red/orange waste bases I thought why not use these for Night Lords as well. It's a great complementary color.

+++ Venomcrawler +++

 

 

 

So, a venomcrawler. After getting the Shadowspear box (mostly for the sweet marine bits) I decided to put the little spider together without any kitbash or conversion. It's a nice change-of-pace every now and then to just build and paint something. I'm not the biggest fan of the mini and if I'll ever get a second one I would change a lot about the base model, particularly the head/face and the spikey ridge on the back. But the next daemon engines on my list are a heldrake and defiler anyway, both of which will be converted heavily to match the aesthetics of my Night Lords.

Thanks! I really like the concept of the defiler. So, I tried to change it as much as possible while staying kinda close to it's origin or the idea of what it should be like.

This Defiler looks very promising indeed.

Is is a model rescue task too? The worn and torn base model is a cheap bargain or you are revisiting your models?

Thanks! I had the box sitting on my shelf for years actually. I bought it from my local vendor because I couldn't find anything on Ebay at the time and nobody I knew had one themselves that they could donate. I just didn't know what to do with it until I came across another defiler conversion with four legs online and then it clicked.

Thanks, glad to be back!  The cable maker is a gift from the heavens, really simple but I use it on pretty much every mini nowadays.

As someone who is very happy with my own defiler conversion, yours is amazing - looking forward to seeing it completed.  Am I safe to assume it will be remaining clawless?

Being deeply dissatisfied with a mini is the best motivation to get back into the game, at least for me.

Thanks! The defiler will be my first test with an airbrush (and maybe oil colors), I hope that's going to work out.

Love that crab thing! Outside the box stuff like that is the best. I didn't think too much about weapon loadout with the defiler, so yeah, it's going to stay clawless. I do have an idea in my head for a defiler "squad leader" which would be equipped with claws, but I'm also thinking about building an earthshaker defiler...so, who knows.
