Although, I am saving up for something in the future.  There is no direct goal, I'm just saving so that when that thing is available, then I can jump on it like a Space Marine from a Thunderhawk ... does that work :ermm:

My Legion of the Damned squad. :happy.:

I was utterly inspired by a member of this most-excellent forum to use the Grey Knight teleporter pack to simulate this unit's ability to deep strike through "magical" means. Also, I've always wanted to use the new Deathwatch models for non-Deathwatch purposes and iirc the same Frater did the same. Although they used a lot of big shields to represent the 3++ save, I opted to let the raised neck and slightly thicker style of the Deathwatch armor do the talking. Yet, more needed to make the unit stand out: no unit designation by company or even squad type. So I used the Raven Guard Chapter symbol on both arms (with the head facing front :tongue.:).

The Morituri

Since the end of the Horus Heresy, along with the Legionary structure, many specific unit designations also saw their end, either as their role was no longer needed or were merged into other units within the reorganized Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes. One such unit was the "Moritat". Almost always as a single Astartes with specialized wargear, these terrifying soldiers had near unmatched combat prowess. The Moritat were born from the Raven Guard Legion and adopted by the other Legions at Roboute Guilliman's command.

For the Raven Guard of today, the Moritat is a part of history, yet their legends inspired a new series of warfare specialists. Shadow Masters for many years have tasked the Tech-Priests of Kiavhar to develop specialized armaments for these soldiers. Separated from the expected Codex-structure, Astartes veterans from within the whole Chapter are selected to join a single squad of Morituri. This solidary unit trains with the expectation that their chances of returning from a mission is minimal with much lower survival rates than typical for Astartes. The Morituri are effectively a suicide-squad, meant to wreak havoc upon the enemy where other resources are unable to be used. In this regard, the unit hearkens to the Moritat of history.

The armor's power pack equipped with a miniaturized teleporter, able to make an instant one-way transit into the most treacherous combat zone. This telepack also incorporates a shield generator granting the user a powerful ward against incoming attacks. Morituri Bolters have dedicated bolt-rounds designed to have increased penetration through the use of more powerful propellant. After several reloads, the weapon will become inoperable as internal mechanisms burn-out or jam, forcing the Morituri to rely of his Dark Blade, a micro-shielded combat knife.

Goram camera could NOT take a crisper shot of this guy ... anyway, as you ma have noticed, I did not use the chest pouches on all the models. The Deathwatch parts have different styled bolter rounds and that looked odd to me, So I filled the space with spackle (because I wanted to try it AND I have a ton of the stuff). It was frustrating to work with and do NOT recommend it for small spaces ...

I also had to use arms from other unit types so as not use the Deathwatch left arms which are made to hold another weapon. The left hands also came from the Grey Knights PA squad sprue.

I wanted the squad to have a heavy weapon because ... why not. As a fan of Melta weapons then that was that. BUT, the GW Multi-Melta uses a dedicated pack that conflcted with the idea of the "telepack". Then Kromlech came to the rescue with their Magna Cannon (yes, I've been planning a LotD that long). To fit the theme of the "suicide squad", I figured this Multi-Melta would have limited charges and then be discarded. Pack problem solved :wub:
