Today I got back into my account after several years adrift on the tides of the warp.

the days were passed with my uplifting primer and the occasional transmission of the good works of my fellow guardsmen to keep me sane.

I have landed my man cave in it’s own residence in my back yard (yay shed to man cave transformation)

I’ve spent the last few days putting brush to dudes and getting some uniformity going on.

im interested to post pics again and see what’s what 2 editions later.

Welcome back! 10th is definitely a good time to rejoin you didn't miss much of 9th

Especially when our booked dropped just before the new edition did

What's on the painting table?

Munitorum request has been approved and a warhound titan is en route as fast as Mars can produce it.

3d printed on a mono screen upgraded Mars Pro. Probably have 50 hrs of printer time when its all said and done. Torso is hollow. Lower body is solid to try and lower the center of gravity and keep him stable. Not sure if i'm going to actually glue it to a base or not. I like the idea of the base for some diorama work but i think it'll be more playable without it.

Played my league game tonight. Brought the warhound. It was magnificent. Oppressive and definitely worth 1100pts. Picked up bikes turn 1, bike captain his turn 1, 6 wardens with the flamer, stomped out trajaan, 3 more wardens before finally being brought down.  My highlight of the game was still a Sentinel shooting a callidus assassin and then charging her and getting her with his chainsaw.

Terrain is from death ray designs.

Today I joined the Guard!

Got a Cadia Stands on super cheap (Like, less than $100 US levels of cheap) and I'm already in love with the sculpts.

Welcome to the ranks :) . I look forward to seeing what paint-scheme you come up with :) .

Absolutely spanked by Necrons. Probably the first game where I have felt truly helpless. Invuls, damage reduction, feel no pains, wound regeneration, model regeneration, assault on demand, everything is hitting on 2s. Rough game, onto the next. That line isn't gonna hold itself.

Appreciate it, brother!  They'll spend most of their time on the shelf alongside some Blood Angels and Custodes, so I'm trying to think of what to do to make em look like they fit.  Probably something grey, almost Starship Troopers style.

Not sure yet!  Might do some test cases before making any firm decisions.  Mostly leaving it as my 2024 army at this point too; maybe a good battleforce will get me to work on them more this year :P

Had a Starship Trooper-themed battle today, 2000 pts of Imperial Guard vs Tyranids ...I mean Mobile Infantry against Bugs, where we replayed the Battle of Klendathu with... quite a different outcome.

Won my first 10th edition game today by walloping Iron Hands in a 1000 point game.

Creed

Platoon Command Squad (heavy flamer, grenade launcher, medic, vox,) w/ Grand Strategist

4x infantry squad (Heavy Bolter x2, Autocannon, Lascannon)

Mortar Squad

2 Scout Sentinels run as singles

1 Armoured Sentinel

Chimera double heavy flamer

Ogryns x3 (in chimera)

Demolisher

Creed joined the Autocannon squad and sat on the home objective.  Only the autocannon fired and never hit anything.  Mortars put Suppressing Fire out every turn for free.  I kept one heavy bolter squad in reserve and it walked onto his home objective turn 3.  This works very nicely against Sticky Objectives armies.  My demolisher, chimera/ogryns, and one scout sentinel crushed him on the left flank then killed his stuff that had killed my infantry on the center objective.  My sentinels + PCS/lascannon squad were able to tarpit long enough that the score was out of reach by the end of turn 3, with me having firm control over 4/6 objectives and a 5th one contested.

Cranked up the airbrush today to prime some of the characters and while I was down there figured I'd start on the Dorn and saw my old Manticore that had been waiting on a new coat of paint too.

Oddly the first bottle of paint I grabbed was the wrong shade despite it being labelled my new colour. That resulted in the Manticore getting 2 different base coats. Lucky airbrush layers are thin!

The forges were re-lit this weekend and I finished the assembly of the plastic parts of my Stormblade, and began the cleanup of the resin pieces in ernest.

In terms of major casting problems this was the most annoying misalignment. Short of covering it with something there is no real way to fudge it apart from scraping it off, and adding the detail again. In retrospect it would have been easier to use the smaller plastic fuel drums included with the kit :D

It's not too hard to build this thing, but the resin pieces are so large that you can't take any of the steps lightly, needing to get fit and pinning just right before you glue anything, and think about the order of operations, in this case the fuel cannister mountings have to go on before the main body etc .

Props for effort there.

I haven't had to deal with the Baneblade plastic ones, but the accessory sprue ones are an alignment nightmare in their own right. Trying to level the top of the barrel without completely wiping out the rim. The mini Gorgon barrels were great straight off the gate.

Either way, the big ones look extra cool, so well worth

Got to play against a friend I hadn't seen in a while since we both effectively sat out 9th together.

He brought his GK and I brought my guard.

We didn't make it past T2 due to hard stop time and playing fairly slow and casually as it was his first game of 10th.

Wow GK can move! Between that and some crappy T1 maelstrom cards he ended up winning by 5. It was a good catch up and fun game, really digging the return maelstrom.

My army did bring the hurt! Pretty happy with the Banesword and Exterminator.

Not so impressed by the Vanquisher or LRBT... Wondering if a Plasmacutioner is better than the battle tank?

Yesterday I played a crusade game against the Arch Enemy, Chaos Space Marines, I had a Basalisk, 2 20 man Krieg blobs, a PCS, and a marshal, along side a CST squad and a malcador against 3 Rhinos with 3 5 marine Legionaires squads, a master of executions , a sorcerer, oh and 2 wardogs, a karnivore and an executioner , although we had to call it early, all that stood against at the End were 2 Rhinos and the Executioner, the malcador lost 3 wounds, I lost 4 CSTs and 12 Kiegers and a veteran.

Malcadors, as it turns out, were rather better than expected.

New league season started and my first round opponent was running tau. Double crisis bomb, double devilfish breacher.

I brought the glorious Baneblade! He took it out but it ate all his shooting for 2 shooting phases. Killing 9 crisis suits with a 4++/5+++(strat) and 6 wounds each due to double shield drones.

Ended up winning 100-66.
