Today I bought my first order of stuff from Victoria minis.

A set of ten slouch hat-wearing heads, ten bush backpacks, and a sprue of the Julie Guthrie female heads.

I already have a few things in mind for most of it, too.

Here's my latest paint job, Ed Too Tall Jones, my standard bearer for A Co., 7th Btn., Tallarn 23rd Light.

Hpefully this will placate the commisariat. :)

Those faces are impressive!

Here are some more photos of 3 other IG projects I painted last month.

1.)  I ripped off my old metal Demolisher barrel and replaced it with an eradicator barrel.

Here is a photo of the new Eradicator barrel...

2.) I redid 20 troopers' bases.   This was the last phase of a 2 and a half year project of re-painting all 300-ish troopers and 17 sentinels' bases.  I changed the bases from scorched earth/rhinox hide to Tallarn Sand.  And because I'm a dork I also gave each trooper a name and added it to her or his base. :)

Here is a photo of the new Tallarn Sand color scheme/names on Blue Platoon...

3.) I painted up backpacks for 14 Jade Platoon lasgunners & sergeants.  All 11 Tallarn squads' lasgunners and sergeants now have backpacks.

Here is a photo of Jade Platoon's new backpacks...

For reference, here is a 2014 photo of the old metal barrel Demolisher barrel (the Demolisher on the left) and the old scorched earth color scheme on Blue Platoon's bases...

Today I had a little bit of time so got the faces painted on my metal Cadians

These look great! The newer style colour scheme on the older metal models works really well. And by the throne you must have a steady hand!

Thanks mate I appreciate that!

I found quite a good unorthodox method for painting eyes and details:

Using a 00 or 000 brush, I brace the long end of the brush against my cheek, almost in line with my eye.

This allows me to get the model closer to my face to really see details but also limits any shakes/tremors in my hands :)

I made some progress over the week and the weekend. The ADL was primed and painted and then repainted again to establish a clean basecoat. The original drybrushing I had applied was teeeerrible. The Russ has 2 of 4 camo colors applied and will need some line touch-ups. The guardsmen and sentinel were from earlier in the week. I'm still not sure about the sentinel camo. It's zany but...historical..unfortunately.

I love the guardsman that is looking to his right with that "Oh Lord I hope the commissar isn't watching."

He was a bit of an accident as the first eye I did ended up in the corner so then I thought let's make him look nervous!

He's my favourite now, had to make him my profile photo haha

I reckon he's awesome!

They are some of the best Cadians I've seen in years.

Faces are really tough to do and you've nailed them.

Really well done.

Thank you so much! I think the main thing is I got all the spare heads from across my miniatures and practiced on them before committing to these guys

It's great to see some of the old Cadians getting some love. I thought they were excellent miniatures (I have some myself) and it would have been fantastic if GW had turned them into plastic rather than redesigning them like they did (especially the helmets). Ho Hum... :(

Today, my Army got an unexpected Panther-Russ tank (still WIP):

It's a little back heavy but I can live with that. It has been a relatively simple conversion which means I will be able to repeat it a few times :) . I still have a little work to do but it is ticking along OK :) .

'Are you sure this is legal Todson?'

'Adsoluely major. I have my man in Munitorum. We play regicide from time to time. And i must say he's not a good one at it'

'If that man knew you better, he would never play with you.'

'Oh major, that's just a game? More so those guys are leftovers as we are. Their transport ship crash-landed on a planet infestad with orks and tyranids.'

'I hope you did not arrange that'

'Major I'm just a humble servant of the Emperor'

'And you should pray him harder. Or somebody in Munitorum or Commissariat will get too interested in your actions.'

'I did nothing wrong. And you know major, I play regicide with our regimental commissar too. He's very venturous and not very careful'

'Oh Throne... If I was not in command of a regiment that have to fight for every box of rations, I would execute you long time ago lieutenant'

'The goals justify the means, don't you agree? Just look what your humble quartermeister brought under your command'

Last weekend i went to tournament with my 'new' tanks with artillery and infantry support. 50% of armies there were ynnari...

The only questions in my head is was the man who wrote this a xenosexualist and what was he thinking of while making one of the strongest armies even stronger? Beacuse of poor wording you get up to THREE shooting phases with multiple strenght D shots per game turn! Facemelting.

Re lictor2017

The only thing to counter this that came across my mind were full scale combined platoons with lots of HWTs, conscripts, commissars, priests and maybe psykana division (i'm not so sure about those witches). Foot slogging mass of infantry that won't be caring really much about what is shooting at it.

Edit:
One more thing 'Emperor's Wrath' artillery formation is really His wrath in flesh. I took 2 wyverns, 1 manticore, Volkov's cane, Vox, and a servitor for tech-priest.

Shamansky,

Yes, I went to a tournament last weekend and many of the armies were Ynarri there as well. 2 of my 3 games were against them! Those of us who weren't Ynarri, in homage to Oprah, started shouting during our games, "And you get a soulburst, and you get a soulburst..." If you can't beat your opponent, at least you can annoy them. :)

I think in future games against ynnari along with a ruler, dices and templates a candelabrum will be included into my kit.
