Hellex_The_Thanatar
The heavy slot is annoyingly filled with things I want. A 6 man squad of sagittarum guard. Riding in transport is like amazing. Or even then teleporting in. But then the dreads are sooooooo cool. I love the sword board dreads. Then the tank that murders jinking anything's. Arggg. Guess I'll do two lists one with focus on troops and the other heavy armor.
Hellex_The_Thanatar
so.... i cant take valdor with some sisters and custodes as allies as i need to use that HQ to take a hq sister of silence to unlock sisters as an option? Not happy with that :/ Do we know if custodes can take a fellblade as a lords of war choice? "Sorry Valdor, I know you carry the emperors personal commands and seal, but i cannot let you move this fellblade from storage, its sleeping" :cuss That's...not What the custodes are for. Everything about them is guardianship. Not a typical go assault this garrison. That's what my expendable iron warriors were for.
Baluc
Pretty much. I'm trying to figure out how to include Custodes myself with my wolves. Problem is I don't need more assault... so I'm looking at jetbikes, heavy support and maybe sisters as troops which means a sos hq as well. StaggerLee
they still would need covering fire against a fair few things. just weird i would have to take them as allies to be able to include a fellblade, wheras if i run them as a main all of a sudden they loose that. Baluc
Fellblade is a legion unit. Its built to the purpose of the legions. Mainline combat. Talons are mostly a support faction Total War is not their proffession.
Commander Dawnstar
So say I was looking to make a 1,500/2,000 point Talons list: I'd like to field Jenetia Krole with her Raptor Guard and a Knight-Centura with a unit of Vigilators/Oblivion Knights both in Kharons; that takes care of approximately 850 points. The problem is that I don't really have a good understanding of the Custodes and either what they're good for or how one wants to think about kitting them out, so I was hoping you guys could maybe give me some suggestions for what could be a fun and effective accompaniment for my starting point. I'd certainly like to get at least one of the Contemptors - either, they're both really cool - but that's about as far as my ideas go.

Well teleporting deathbeam sagitarum squads can help deal with back field units giving sisters trouble like a whirlwind. They are all around beastly. Or if you want a pita rock that's super hard to kill, hetaeron squad is damn hard to kill and in cc may arguably be the strongest unit without slapping special characters in it to date. 3 wounds boats of attacks. These guys are so tanky and so deadly.
Black Cohort
Custodes terminators also get some decent shooting options.
Rabidbunneh
Shield-Captain: Digital lasers, Paragon Spear, Tribune: 245 Agamatus Jetbike Squadron: 3 Twin Linked Corvae las-pulsers: 300 6 Custodian Guard: Vexilla, 2 Pyrithite Spears: 360 6 Custodian Guard: Vexilla, 2 Pyrithite Spears: 360 3 Custodian Sentinels: 1 Solarite Power Gauntlet: 195 3 Custodian Sentinels: 1 Solarite Power Gauntlet: 195 Caladius Grav-Tank: 195 This is the first 1,850 list i've put together. The Jetbikes look like pretty nasty anti tank as they are fast, surviveable and can put out 3D3 Lascannon shots from flanks. The troops are either small and cheap (Sentinel Squads) that will happily go toe-to-toe with combat units or larger units that will be able to take a beating whilst advancing. Any suggestions? I might stack all the Pyrithite spears on 1 squad so you can focus two larger squads on different types of targets.
Sol_Invictus
Am I missing something or are the contemptors the only Custodes units who don't have deepstrike or the option to get deepstrike?

Hellex_The_Thanatar
The pyrithite are maybe not worth though, 6" is terrible range.
Withershadow
I'm a little surprised he's "only" WS 7 though. I would have expected 8 or even 9 given some of the descriptions of him sparring almost on par with Horus. That never happened and it's one of those web-spawned myths. Also, someone who saved the image dump, could you post them? All the wolf rules are posted in their forum and we have Mods posting images so clearly it's okay at least until it goes on sale. :P Edited February 4, 2017 by Withershadow
Mango Polo
Shield-Captain: Digital lasers, Paragon Spear, Tribune: 245 This is the first 1,850 list i've put together. The Tribune upgrade is for armies of 2000 points and more only.
Gorgoff
There is absolutely no reason to field 6 man units. Play four units of 3 instead of two units of 6.

The Tribune upgrade is for armies of 2000 points and more only. Ah good point. My group only plays at 2k, I looked at this as a good base to work from. Gorgoff, I found that smaller units really didn't put out as much damage in units of 3.
Hellex_The_Thanatar
You can take a loss of a custode from a unit of 6 and not make a break check...which is like only benefit I can see.
Gorgoff
Yeah, but you could charge with two units, if it is necessary. Beide of that you force your opponent two shoot two units, two splitten his attacks one two in cc, they can go after two objectives and so on. Again: No reason. Hellex_The_Thanatar
Does anyone else really wish hetaerons could take paragon spears instead of swords? Darn. Is there anyone there at weekender that can ask the profile of the dagger???
Slips
The dagger is just a CCW so extra attack if your Guard have Fists (not specialist). No other bonus otherwise. Hellex_The_Thanatar 1 Back to top
