Here's the start of a new plog for me; I had not been liking my Thousand Sons for a while after a break from them, and with Photobucket now charging it's removed all my pictures. So, new plog, new Legions!

 

This will be a variety of armies; I can’t stick to one thing and I’m I indecisive to make a decision so I thought the best thing is to just paint whatever I fancy and if I do enjoy painting something, I can do more f that in time.

 

I hit on a legion that I hadn't painted before, and I hadn't really considered the IXth Legion, most likely due to not so much in the way of current 30k source material from them and a lack of rules etc (though Blood Angels were one of my first chapters waaaay back in the late 90's). However, after finding a box of Sanguinary Guard under my bed and seeing the glorious new transfer sheet, I decided to give them a whirl.

 

I guess also my first ever codex was Angels of Death and I want my army to be akin to my very first army, though Heresy relevant. I’ll be getting onto my favourite Legion, the Dark Angels, very soon.

 

First up, here's a Praetor and his Honour Guard. They could be Sanguinary Guard when the rules come out, I guess. I just wanted to avoid the clunky wings and overuse of Death Masks. Kept one for the Sergeant at least, mind. Need to tidy a few bits up and finish the bases as well.

I'm wondering if I could just paint the entire Legion in gold, ha. I really enjoy painting it, and it's easier.

Thanks all for the kind words. Progressing with the Blood Angels further, I made a start on the Sicaran Venator yesterday. Like the Praetor et al, it just needs some finishing touches adding to it and it'll be complete.

 

Totally enamoured with the Blood Angels transfer sheet. And very much tempted by the new Sicaran Arcus (I want all the vehicles in the force to have the Fast rule).

 

Next up, it'll either be some Jetbikes or Cataphractii Terminators (I havnt a real plan for the army at this point, it's just more a collection of random things strewn together).

Fantastic Venator! I really like the way that you've used the Blood Angel decals :tu:

 

I'm planing to get a set of those decals to use on my Emperor's Children, particularly the gold scroll-work. Out of curiosity, what size are the smallest 'scroll-work' decals? Would they work around the edge of a character's cloak?

 

Looking forward to seeing some more :)

Whilst working on the Blood Angels, I've done a couple of testers for two other Legions. Death Guard I've always liked, love the fluff and it's so easy to make some awesome grimy minis. I acquired Konrad Curze in a trade and had a NL transfer sheet knocking around so thought I'd have a stab at a Terror Squad marines from the Crimson Sons company.

The Terror Squad chap is just about done, just need to tone down the gloss on the Legion symbol pad as well as tidy up the skull emblem, and pull the flipping hairs from white spirit soaked cotton buds off him too. The Death Guard Terminator might get a touch more grime, and I'm waiting for some Forge World Transfers to turn up so I can finish him off.

Might just bung it all into one Loyalist Shattered Legion. Or not. I'm just slowly working through various bits and seeing what sticks.

Found a few spare bits lying around so knocked myself up a Dark Angels Captain after seeing a similarly posed chap that gave me some inspiration. Nice to paint up, DA being my first 40k army waaaay back in t’day.

 

Fancied checkers on the whole pad but the transfer didn’t fit on well so gave that a miss. Just a few bits to tidy up and the base to finish.

Here’s my just-about-finished Dark Angels Rhino. I was working on my Veterans squad but wanted to make use of the glorious new doors from Forge World. Just need to re-highlight a few bits and add a touch more weathering powder, and it’s all done. Here’s a few pics alongside my Dark Angels Consul, as well as a cheeky WIP of my second Rhino.

 

Next up, finishing said Veteran Squad and then onto my next Rhino.

All of your stuff looks really good but that’s the best looking Dark Angel I’ve seen in a very long time. Would you mind sharing your paint recipe with us?

And that captain is exactly the direction that I’m hoping FW will go in when they do DA. But with more robes. ;)
