That's gorgeous, Doghouse.

I couldn't sleep, so I drew a Care Bears Goliath. I think it came out looking like it was drawn by somebody who couldn't sleep, but I'm sharing it anyway because it might make someone chuckle.

Got my leader underway now but I will wait before I start painting because I have a gut feeling weapon options may vary from the original game.

This is Edmun Thrace, sometimes refered to as Thrice as in the Thrice blessed or Thrice cursed depending on the situation. While not a native of Necromunda he is well known amongst many scrap dealers of the Underhive and possesses an unnaturally high level of understanding of technology which have lead to many rumours of his true origins.

Thrace and his gang venture out into the Ash Wastes nearest the walls of the gargantuan Hives to recover lost archeotech from trade caravans that failed to cross the wastelands. He is equipped with a wide range of devices to ensure his survival and monitor the ash storms.

damn thats a nice looking mini.

Great work Doghouse, really impressive green stuff skills!

Thanks. :)

I think once I get back into things properly Necromunda will be great for conversions. This guy is basically what I could find in the bits box, so a sentinel pilot torso then Genestealer hybrid arms, head and leg with a fair old coat of green stuff on top. I may convert the autogun to a lasgun though because the magazines can be recharged by placing them in a fire which sounds a lot more effective for people slumming it in the Underhive.

Thanks mate, I'm still a little cautious at the moment because of possible weapons issues with the new edition but figure we should be safe with any weapon we see on the starter set guys. I might expand on the theme of this gang and add some terrain bits as well, I'll see how it goes.

Yeah Im concerned over weapon issues as well, I hope heavy stubbers are still available to the 6 main gangs as most of my guys have them.

I must admit I am seeing a few weapons that look more like repurposed industrial equipment on some of the models.

From the pictures so far I can make out a bolt gun, auto-guns, stub pistols, las-guns, las-pistols, what might be a plasma pistol and presumably what is a flamer? And then you have the usual knives and stuff.

I like the idea of repurposed weapons in Necromunda, the one issue I've often had with Necromunda is the amount of weaponry that whilst considered rare in 40k Universe so much so that these weapons are considered relics and handed down through the ages, is being toted by the in universe equivalent of street gangs. In my mind its like a american street gang having tier one hardware.

To be fair, that kind of weaponry is pretty rare in Necromunda, too.  You have to find a trader who has one and be able to afford the price.

Where do traders come by it?  Well, it is a world that manufactures weapons, primarily.  I know that doesn't explain how one comes into possession of a melta gun or a plasma cannon, but I'm sure that means gun runners and arms dealers are an everyday fact of life there.

I guess the problem is how many exotic weapons (plasma pistols, powerswords, etc) are produced on a hive world, most chapters have their own armoured which produce the equipment one thousand marines require, an imperial guard regiment raised on Necromunda would be armed by the homeworld more than likely but again the numbers of these weapons would be exceedingly small.

I understand the need for the variation and I understand the reasoning behind it from a game perspective but I'm always a little niggled by the previous games lack of improvised/repurposed weapons standing in for those more exotic and rare weapons. It's a shame the auto weapons and las weapons weren't more customizable with scopes, ammunition types, stocks, etc. Giving additional range, to hit bonus or strength bonus's.

Again, those guns aren't produced on the Hive World, but a world that produces weapons will attract people who trade in weapons - whether that trade is legal or illicit.  Surely, some of the smugglers and gun-runners manage to get their hands on weapons that are perhaps scavenged from battlefields or other sources.  It's probably part of the reason why there are "ammo rolls" in Necromunda - it doesn't always mean running out of power packs necessarily.  It could also represent the weapon just not working.  Such weapons are hard to keep in good repair unless you are indeed a Techmarine or  Tech-priest.

So most of the exotic weapons in Necromunda are likely of the "never fired, only dropped once... off a truck" sort, or "only one previous owner" if you get the meaning.

For some reason that guy reminds me on a 40k version of ...

Please please please paint him with dark skin ....

If the weapons were professional grade with reliable usage then yeah I'd get the point.

But from playing Necromunda a lot back in the day those damn ammo rolls mean that the exotic stuff will rarely work for more than a turn or two. It means the back up stub will quite often get used more as you save that plasma pistol for sticking right up the enemy leaders nose.

My favourite model was a juve armed with two knives. Everyone ignores him until he's too close.

Hmmm ... GS Cultist gang ran with Delaque rules using the new GS models. Maybe count a claw as a sword or knife?

Can we have some close ups on the other gangers Doghouse? They look as awesome as blurry right now.

Damn Doghouse, that's an awesome mini. The autogun seems fitting for him, he's the leader after all. Let the underlings take the lasguns. Got any pictures of the guys behind him?

I'll get some pictures up tomorrow. :)

Well I still have a few more to make so could have a proper bash at including that guy. ;)

I've had an idea that might be fun, seeing as there are a few of us interested in Necromunda here and in order to motivate us all a bit why not we combine our resources and make a B&C Underhive shanty town?

So basically each person can add a piece of terrain they want to make and add a little bit of history or even just make a gang or character based there?

Call it Bolt Town or something. People could makes stores, bars, pit fight arenas, local characters, do artwork, whatever takes your fancy. Just use it as motivation to make stuff.

I'm working on a small piece at the moment so can get the ball rolling tomorrow if anyone wants in?

And then all the Brits meet up at Warhammer world for the day, furious dice rolling and bad Monty Python puns ftw!!!!

But yeah that does sound like a good idea, I keep putting off the scenery building side of the hobby and could do with a kick up the bottom to get the ball rolling.

Im serious about meeting up lol.
