Question for you chaps: Rodrik Ghent has a native Ag of 50. I rolled a 5 on the Power Armour table provided in the Index Xenomortis provided by Mol giving Ghent Mk VI armour. This armour type grants the wearer a +10 Ag bonus. Does this mean that, as long as he's wearing his Mk IV armour, Ghent has Ag 60?

That sounds like it would pair well with Bolter Mastery specialization for the Tactical Marine... granted it only works in solo mode, but considering how often we all run in solo mode, it might not be a bad idea... +10 to BS and +2 damage when firing a bolt weapon might be a fitting way to go this time (get a Storm Bolter for extra amusement ).

I was thinking of getting him the "Right Gear for the Job" deed, give him a Combat Shield, which turns him into a mini-mobile fortress. Dorn would be proud. :D

But yeah, a storm bolter seems like a good choice (though I'd have to get it via Requisition points at the beginning of the mission, right?).

Doesn't right gear for the job also include a Combi-Flamer as an option? For a Starting weapon, thats probably a decent shout since Bolters are good but if they get to close, flame em.

Once you meet the required status with in the Deathwatch (Respected)... same for a combi-weapon... other amusing things can be done with those too.

 

The nice part about getting a Storm Bolter (and once you qualify for it, I'd suggest getting it as Signature Wargear, that way you don't have to spend precious Requisition on it every time), is that the Tactical Marine's ability for one clip of special ammo appiles to the Storm Bolter as per the errata.

Not "attached". That would be so unbearably organic ;)

 

But if there there would be any story wise intentions, I would just like a heads up - I have to take ages to go through tables and mix up a chapter.

 

But there is so much Flesh to replace still on poor Sabaan. And I would love to get my hands on a Servo Harness!

That would look pretty solid Reyner and Mk IV plate is awesome (for Tactical Marines), with three armour histories and +15 Fellowship when dealing with other Astartes! The only downside to it is the weaker armour values. (7 to everything but body, 9 on the body)

Sounds good to me, I can see some confusion coming from Tyber should Aodhan have a helmet plume... Should be interesting to figure out how he'll respond, regardless, provided the dice are with me and I can keep up the good rolls when it comes to knowing other chapters that are not sons of the Khan.

We are up to the end of Round 5 - I have not declared Varvost's actions because I think it's probably best for the PCs to end things rather than the NPCs. 

 

Hopefully we can finish up this round tonight so we can continue the story.

Being of the 25 th founding and looking at my past failures to recognize other chapters ( which is funnily quite fitting to an isolationist chapter as the IH) expect blankand uncaring staring.

So, for the Red Talons I have looked at the Howling Griffons rules - they get: +5 WS, Forbidden Lore (Traitor Legions) and Hatred (Traitor Legions) - could that work for the Red Talons? Would we give them the Iron Hands advance chart or the Codex Chapters advance chart?

Based on your knowledge from AD-B's book, you ought to make some choices. Basically most Chapters will receive +5 to two statistics that will help push your character towards being an exemplar of the Chapter. What do you think would work? 

We would also need to come up with a Chapter demeanour that sums them up - it could well be "Wardens of the Veil", but you could consider "Redden the Earth"?

Happy to CM, once I get a chance to go through with the end of round 5 / beginnings of round 6 I'll start pawing through the tables and see what I can come up with, I'll spoiler it here so that it can be looked over and tweaked as needed.

Thinking on the Red Talons for now I think using the IH table should be okay, but like the Spears perhaps crafting one just for them might be the way to go in the long run?

Will hit the books.

 

I only know the lore from what ADB has left here and the stuff from Lexi, but from my mind, the Air To Ground Warfare angle might work alongside Redden the Earth, similar to a Demeanour: Death From Above maybe.

 

Hang on - air to ground warfare and redden the Earth?  Got it.

 

Demeanour: Apocalypse Now?

 

ADB has specifically mentioned that the Sentinels of The Veil are very similar to the Maelstrom Warders, a copy paste of that could work as the parallels are there, but that was developed over time as nothing really matched it and became my "shoulder plate to shoulder plate, the Astartes stand as an unbroken bulwark against the darkness" but something a bit more distinctive might be in order...hmm.

 

Chapter Trappings could be Crusader Medallions from the Marines Errant entry - the Spears use Campaign badges along with "brother chapter badges" like the Star Scorpions or the Celestial Lions, or the seemingly chapter unique Exodus Armada marking, which any Marine could have.

 

Red Talons concepts sound fine, Lexi states they are Codex, so those Advances would be fine for them.

@ Reyner I was doing some calcs for lulz on the Missile Launcher and with an Astartes Frag Missile, all you have to do is hit a Horde, no Degrees of Success needed and as long as you damage it enough you can do up to 17 Magnitude Damage if in Squad Mode with Unrelenting Devastation as your special ability.  With Mighty Shot it gets even more filthy and the Frag Missile is Pen 4, with up to 11 chances to score a 10 and inflict Righteous Fury.

 

Does that sound like Red Talon weapon of choice to you?

MR, have a look at the Concussion Missile, they are pricey at 20 req/ea, but what they hit, will be down at 6D10 Impact Pen 5 Blast (5) Consussive! (target that takes more damage than STR bonus is knocked prone, couple this with a toughness test at -10/DoS on the hit if they took damage from the attack)
