Wargear question - the sharpshooter rifle comes with a scope but Atratus uses his chapter trapping instead, would it be kosher to ditch the scope in order to fit the gun into the signature wargear talent?

Or wait till you can get an Autocannon or Lascannon to really reach out and wreak something... ;)

Or wait till you can get an Autocannon or Lascannon to really reach out and wreak something...

True, but Atratus is one of those weird characters that only has the rifle (and scope) as a character piece. The weapon itself is inferior to a stalker boltgun and as an assault marine Atratus can neither advance his ballistic skill score efficiently nor buy any of the shooting talents.

Very true A.T. and thankfully that scope he has really increases the power of that weapon so that it is very strong mechanically too.

Personally I'm always a fan of flavour over min-maxing. :)

Edit:

I hate snow... 1h it took me to clear my walkway, driveway and car from snow 7 inches deep that came down over night after I cleared all of that after dinner last night...

Damn it Rotor-jockey do you even shovel? :biggrin.:

Us dog-faced-mud-rolling trenchies would have that powder snorted up an squared away in 5 minutes...:teehee:

EDIT: To be fair, snow is great - unless you have to drive anywhere, then it's not so fun.

Why do you think I live somewhere, where it hardly ever snows? :D

The upside to it, is my 5 year old is off playing in it, buried up to his knees in the back yard.

Edit:

A note about the snow where I live, is that it is extremely heavy and soggy thanks to being right on the Pacific Ocean.... like seriously I can walk 5 minutes to the waterfront from my front door.

That is really quite the comeback,Nine! Worth the wait for every line!

Here's my total XP from Episode 1 in preparation of the next one:

Initial 1000:

Tech-Use +10 (400, from Techmarine Adavance)

The Flesh is weak I ( 500, from IH Advance)

100 unspent

500 XP : Autosanguine

Toughness simple advance (200 XP) taking it to 53

WS simple (500 XP ) taking it to 51

Int (simple) to 46 (200XP)

Security (400 XP)

1300 to this point.

300 unspent

2000 Xp ( End of Episode 1)

The Flesh is Weak II (500 XP, IH Advance)

Awareness (200 XP, General Advance)

Trade: Armourer (600 XP, General Advance)

Forbidden Lore: Adeptus Mechanicus (300, IH Advance)

Int (Techmarine, Advanced, 500 XP) +5 --- now 51

I think it's mostly rounding out what we have seen of Sabaan in some way or the other. Hope it's ok. C&C appreciated!

Xin,

Awareness for 200xp, it's something you already have, so you could dump that 200xp +100xp left into something else...Trade (Armourer) nice call, very appropriate! :smile.:

If you dropped Survival, (Since Sabaan isn't a knucklehead and can eat virtually anything) you come up to 600xp, which could buy 3 x sets of different Tactics from the Codex Advance table (Honour the Chapter book), or Awareness +10 (400xp) and Tactics: (Any) for 200xp.  Alternatively another Trade or some more Iron Hand goodies?

Looks good otherwise!

Just my thoughts.

Yeah, I have to admit to being a little confused by your post, Xin. By my count, you've only spent 4600 of your 5000?

A.T. - since the scope is your Chapter trapping, it seems to me that the rifle on its own can be signature wargear, but you could get some non-scope related upgrades on it, perhaps?

Slips - I would like to avoid deeds and decorations for the time being, at least until the end of Episode II.

Fair enough

Thank you all.

Seems like I fell victim to the stupid doubling of existing skills in the trees again.... and poor math...

And I forgot that there is another table in Honour the Chapter.... looked the books up over dinner and was obviously too distracted...

Survival seemed more of a fluff choice. I 'd love to take a Pilot as a skill but it's still out....

So, back to the drawing board.....

How is this:

How is this:

Looking solid brother - although you could do with blowing that 100xp on something or you're not going to rank up until we kill more stuff - IF - that's of import to your good self.

Just FYI, Pilot (Personal) is 100xp in the General Advance table ;)

And my next character is going to have Pilot (Voidcraft) as a skill...:p

MR.

Revised XP spend:

Berserk Charge - 600 (Blood Angels)

Signature Wargear (Jump Pack) - 500 (Core, General)

Furious Assault - 600 (Blood Angels)

Pilot (personal) - 100 (errata)

Acrobatics - 200 (Blood Angels)

Total - 2000

Edited by Slips

Atratus Revised XP chart (2100 to spend)

500xp - two weapon wielder (melee)
200xp - agility +5 (first increase)
500xp - signature wargear (Mk IX Ultra-pattern Sharpshooters Rifle)

600xp - move silent +20 and talented

300xp - concealment +10 and talented (will make a bid for the elite advance - guerilla warfare after maxing these out)

 requisition +26

"Just FYI, Pilot (Personal) is 100xp in the General Advance table ;) "

I re-read that Table twice and can't seem to find that. :p

Pilot: Personal is more akin to Jumppack operation if I read that one right. There just doesn't seem to be a way to have a Techmarine

Pilot in DW, which was what I was originally aiming for. To be fair, the DW ruleset was before the rise of SM aircraft IIRC.

But I am streamlining my background for the Character thread anyway post-episode 1 and I think there is enough to Sabaan to smooth that one out.

My advance plan is Peer (Mechanicus) and Good Reputation (from the IH advances) .... I made some references to his AdMech Mentor over the Eposode already and could imagine finding a connection to some Techpriest or Scitary connected to that Magos who is serving in our current theater of operations ....

From which I could see the Logis Engine advance aaand Combat Master Talent as a development of the cranial implants further down.

Well, today marks a year since our Deathwatch RPG started! I am pleased we have managed to persevere and push through what has been a busy and difficult year for so many of us! I've learnt a great deal and am hoping our next adventure will run a little more smoothly.

Blackthorn Players: I am going to be going through the expenditure and checking all, as well as trying to manage the transition over to the revised character profiles. Once they're done I will be removing the older profiles to ensure there is no confusion. Whilst Swordhand complete their first scene (more on that below) there's stuff to keep you busy.

Swordhand: Episode II is now live! Post #1100 (wow!) has been updated and hopefully Noctus will kick-start your action. From there, it's entirely up to you!
