Thank you, @Firedrake Cordova. It was interesting to force myself to accept fielding something that was ready rather than finished :D

Meanwhile, fielding other things.

Epic: Armageddon, 3k. The Machine Church met the Tzeentchian hordes of the Lost and the Damned in a battle of thoroughly fumbled command networks and misfortunes, as both sides bled and stumbled forwards hopelessly. Even kicking airman Jones into the empty fuel tank instead failed to get the birds flying. No breakthrough was achieved nor any formations properly destroyed, though the price in blood and oil rose high for everyone on the burning sands. Neither side achieved any real objectives nor was there any meaningful difference between the casualty tiebreakers, ending in a true, futile draw.

There is so much to love in this thread … my favourites are the upscaled death guard that look so much better than GW’s own new Mk IIIs. I prefer the more angular look of the older MKIII sculpts, with the new ones being too soft and rounded. Yours are insanely good and I wish I had the skills and the patience to do something like this.

and the huge game with an insane amount of units on a ridiculously crowded table. This really gives the feel of a huge monster battle going on in the Horus Heresy. Amazing work.

On the ritual table, my dreads took the fight to the Blood Angels while skies rained fire. Ultimately, two chaplains of the Angels united to crack some heads and caused Gra-Bul'Ah to pop back into non-existence not by dying, but rather through combat resolution loss as too many World Eaters died in the same combat for the might daemon to keep up with :D

This battle by the way - there just aren’t enough words…

@Firedrake Cordova cheers, living the life :D

@Pearson73 truly, that battle was a bilateral trainwreck in very fitting ways. Every army can't be comprised of top level operators every time and these certainly weren't.

@TheArtilleryman hey man, welcome to the thread! Glad you like the games, haven't documented them in vain then ;)

The upscaling isn't all that complicated to do, at the end of the day, but it does take quite a bit of time. Particularly on the mk III's, as the ribbing needs to be redone at the cuts.

@Firedrake Cordova cheers :D

@Dr_Ruminahui as the ground tiles are sort of ivory-ish stained with reddish brown dust and debris, I'm picturing the vibrantly red parts as remains of once beautiful roofs and decorated domes. War is hell.

Ooh, really nice.

I remember GW making models for the fighters and bombers, but I don't remember GW ever making any torpedoes ... or are they 3D printed?

Nah, these are plastic Aeronautica Ork wing bombs and missiles. I'm looking for a cheap and cheerful source of other ordnance as well, apparently I'm going to do some proper BFG again after 15 years :)

3k NetEA. Dark Angels made an attempt at a lightning strike against the Machine Church, but the unyielding purity of steel prevailed and the astartes were scattered onto the streets, slick and glistening with the all-soaking rain of oil.

Your boards always provide a great setting.

There's some terrain there that isn't from GW - is it scratch-built, or is it for another game system?

Most of it isn't GW, though the amount of that at our club is on the rise as miP is cranking out terrain like a one-man factory line. There are foam buildings from long defunct Kickstarters like Neo Tyrannis, resin hedges for WW2 and whatnot while the GW kits have been extended as well, such as using a styrofoam ball for the golden dome on the palace building.

His LI road tiles have not yet gotten a matt varnishing either, which led us to conclude that it must've been raining during the battle as the ground shines so hard in the pictures :D

My Aux-based Guard needed some Chimera equivalents and my lazy arse couldn't bother to print any right now. Instead I spent a few days prototyping the BattlePotato, a shortened and wingless Arvus with moldcast Rapier tracks and a laser turret.

Cheers fellas, now for something less tubery:

A bit of BFG after 15 years, trying to reverse-engineer my old scheme :P
Some casual speedpainting while I was helping at our roleplaying club's freshmen event.

The latest additions to Autumn Twilight's battlefleet Rhapsody of Fire: two Dauntless light cruisers Deadly Omen and Raging Starfire, escorted by Silent Dream, a squadron of Cobra torpedo boats and In Tenebris, a Falchion gunboat.

Always nice to see BFG models.

I like the colouration/blending on the prow of the Dauntless cruisers - it's rather "painterly". The bases are very nice too

The vessels are a work of art, beautifully done. I especially like the bases.

Thanks Cordova and TC. "Painterly" seems fitting, with these being pretty slapped on paintjobs looking for some of that baroque goodness. Bases too, nebulas are fun to work with as you can get pretty messy with them :D
