Discussion on the new C:SM & Possible BT supplement

Recommended Posts

Hopefully there's a stratagem to change your doctrine prematurely. Imagine using the tactical doctrine turn one with a bunch of LRCs full of chainsword wielding crusaders. Those hurricane bolters will melt infantry and even threaten more durable things through weight of dice. Then, on turn two switch to the assault doctrine and have your massive crusader squads charge forth to rip and tear.

After seeing how the BA, DA and SW have got on today, is everyone else feeling a little bit more pleased to be safe and snug in Codex:Space Marines?

What a week!

Not really. Because in the end they will have a standalone release, and wont be part of a supplement or even forgotten, and get as good or better rules.

But I may be complaining to early, let's see how we are treated by the end of this release.

I am not sure the - 4 ap is the big thing here. I think - 1 on chainswords and - 3 on axes will be really strong.

Most things we want to hit with hammers will have 4+ or 5+ invulnerable save anyways.

not a Knight...

with Helbrecht we dont need Axes.. Swords are the answer ;)

Doesn't the assault doctrine mean all basic intercessor attacks strike with the same AP as a chainsword?

no - thats wrong. assault doctrine means we all get -1 ap additional... Means Hammers, swords, fists have -4ap while normal attacks have -1 and axes have -3

This will make large crusader squads VERY interesting.

ohh YES

ironicly - for the moment YES.

Like I said on the N&R, after seeing the UM focus, I'm finding it hard to believe that BT and CF will be part of the IF supplement.

It would be basically dividing a supplement for 3 different armies.

While CF can share the modus operandi with IF despite a different CT, I dont think Templars will fit there. I'm having Angel's of Death flashbacks.

I hope I will be proven wrong.

I cannot see us being a WD supplement. Just no way. That's way too much info for a supplement, with at least four data sheets, (Four being the worst case scenario of losing crusader squads, but keeping all of the specialist units with separate models which cannot be represented with another data sheet.) Plus relics and stratagems. (We need at least one stratagem to give us a deny power.)

Faith brothers.

Well we will have to see.

On the Plus side: The um supplement, from what was shown, synergizes well with the um ct.

They brought back a much loved oldmarine unit with the Tyrannic war vets.

There is a wealth of stuff in there which I feel behooves a first founding chapter.

We can expect something similar for each chapter getting a supplement I think.

I hope we get one and with the sind of Dorn being the first ones to be mentioned in the inital article I dont think we have been forgotten.

And even if we should have been forgotten we will still be way better off than last week.

I want this to be my zeal place. Full of chains and swords and knightly robes far from the sniffling of minmaxing tournament players.

Everyone needs to relax, we will be fine. They will give our due treatment and we'll be able to field the units we have now at the very least.

Indeed. If anything, the format of that release (core book + supplements) should be viewed as encouraging for all the marine subfactions.
