After spending a small fortune on nice 25mm resin bases of they go to 28s I won't be rebasing mine... I don't see how 1.5mm radius increase will impact the game. Besides if someone can actually eyeball that difference in a game I'll eat my cap

Will be interesting to see whats announced this weekend. I've learnt to temper my expectations for anything IG related this edition

I have given up, Im just on auto pilot, I have the minis so I may as well paint the damn things. If we get something good then thats a bonus, if we dont then at least I have a fully painted army. Im having fun building the army and vibing with you guys, so I win regardless of GW dropping the ball or not.

After all and with 10.Ed right around the Corner i have to say, i wish for no 9.Ed Codex anymore. Best case would be that we get a Codex that is strong for maybe a few months before 10.Ed dropps and resets everything.

Worse case: if 10.Ed doesn't reset everything. We get a 9.Ed Codex with "10.Ed in Mind" so we have to struggle throw 10.Ed as well with an outdated Codex. And won't get a propper 10.Ed Codex anytime soon.

so or so i think Guard is in for a rought Time

Well, GW announced "The Old World" (reboot of WHFB) back in 2019, and that hasn't been released yet.  My Local GW store manager (take this with a LARGE grain of salt) expects the release to be in 2023.  If that is true, then we can expect a full year before 40K gets rebooted.

With the focus on at least somewhat balancing factions in 40k, GW can have a 4-year release cycle:  40K, 30K, AoS, and TOW.  I like that.

Infantry squads also don't lose heavy weapons (which is nice), instead the one that can take 2 specials seems to be a different unit. I also got the impression that cadian units will be separate from regular ones (there was a lot of emphasis on cadian infantry and heavy weapons squads).

Yet they seem to come from the same box now lol.

which I find interesting considering the other rumors about veterans/SWSes, which don’t have boxes of their own.

That's just my reading of it so I could be very far off, can only wait I guess.

Theory.

the rumor about infantry squads was wrong, so I have a theory.

veteran squads will be to kasrkins as infantry squads are to shock troopers.

so I’m thinking veterans will lose their BS3+, but will generally keep their current wargear options

kasrkins will have more limited wargear options but have BS3+, and basic weapons will be better and obviously better Sv than the veterans. Maybe even better Ld.

this way both have their strong suits and have reasons for you to take either of them, obviously the new kits will be slightly better though to encourage sales.

I was always skeptical that they would be thrown out completely. The article seems very specific when it says "A squad of Cadian Shock Troops packs in more special weapons than a standard Infantry Squad, leaving the Heavy Weapons Team behind for greater mobility."

So I wonder what that means for other regiments? Do Cadians get their own bespoke supplement (like Space Marines / CSM), or are they no longer a regiment of their own and are an elite choice? I didn't listen to the stream today so I don't know if any of that was addressed.

I mean the whole regiment thing seems like it’s going to become irrelevant now. I watched a watch along so missed at least half what the actual revealers said while the YTer talked over them and their subs gave them money lol

I just think the shock troopers will be troops slot with standard guard statline (maybe another inch for movement?) but they get the 2 specials instead of 1 special and 1 heavy.

Also new theory I posted in the news thread for the FOBs

im hoping there’s a special interaction between master of ordnance and the FOBs.

If regiments go away then I guess this gives another troop option?

1. Infantry squads

2. Conscripts

3. Scions

(all as we know them)

4. Shock troopers

Which would be perhaps like you said no HWT, extra special weapon and more movement

Does give us some variety.

I’ll bet scions will still be separated from normal guard some how, but they definitely said regiments can be mixed and matched, and then you choose army rules like that death cult or parade drill or whatever they’re called.

From what was said, Cadian shock troops will probably get their own datasheet!

I believe these units will be able to have extra special weapons within the squad.

Kasrkin will also get their own specific rules.

There seems to be a shift towards a more “elite” approach with the Guard.

I’m happy that they mentioned the “Cult of Sacrifice” rule as it proves that Krieg will be in the new book.

It would appear that there’s no need to build around a single Regiment (though I’m a purest and will only field my beloved

Krieg) and many regiments working together will be a perfectly valid way to play!
