@AT: Just checking so I've got your position correct for a Round 3 map, you had moved into cover directly south of the leftmost plinth, so 18m (9 squares) will put you on the south side of the rightmost plinth, is that right?

Yes, that sounds correct.

@Tro: Technically the Bolter Assault happens before Svelk's Charge Action, so you're free to target Brood 1 without penalty! And Brynjarr is one of the few squad members with any Frags left... ;)

@Mol: Good point!

@AT: Great!

So, at the end of Round 2 both Loxatl Broods have a few Mag left, but both have broken and fled, leaving Von Caeryd alone.

Now we could go into a third Round and fight it out, but to my mind he's a bit too cowardly to keep fighting?

So if its cool with everyone I'll end Structured time and we can handle the rest narratively?

Well, that ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, didn't it? ;)

But, with the mission completed, that brings us to the end of Episode 1: 'The Rivals'!

Therefore, I'd just like to take a moment to thank all the players involved for some really, really great writing, character-building and dice-rolling fun! I hope you've enjoyed playing as much as I've enjoyed running it and reading what you've come up with! I'd also like to apologise again for all the newbie GMing mistakes I've perpetrated throughout the game! :D

Of course, that doesn't mean the story is over... unless everyone wants it to be? :P I sincerely hope everyone would like to come back for more!

As is hopefully clear from the last post, the ground is laid for Episode 2: 'The Pride of Kings'. I'm going to take a break for a month or so, just to let everyone (myself included!) recover, but also to hopefully recruit a few more players to expand the cast of villians, scum and ne'er-do-wells working for Talek Varn...

More info on all of this will be coming over the next day or two!

Again, thank you to everyone involved, you've made my first go at GMing an absolute pleasure!!!

So there was more to Holger than met the eye.

Thank you Lysimachus for the game, it has been fun, and yes Brynjarr and I would like to see what comes next.

Thank you to the rest of you for being great gaming companions, and I hope I was an acceptable last minute replacement for Mazer and his character, and would happily step aside if he returns from his hiatus.

I never did like Holger...

Excellent work Lysimachus - thank you for running an entertaining game and showing other potential GMs that it can be done!

There were several story beats that I never expected and that surprised and entertained in equal measure!

I will look forward to your plans for Episode II!

Wonderful! Thank you for all the kind words, and I'm so glad everyone (well, still need to hear from AT, so nearly everyone!) wants to continue!

@Tro: If Mazer would like to bring Orphiel back, I'd be thrilled to have him... but that would definitely be filling one of the new slots rather than pushing Brynjarr out!

...speaking of which, I might as well throw it out there now that I was thinking it would be nice to have a full 10 man squad? (I'm not quite as brave as Mol, so I'm not gonna try doing 2 full squads! :P )

That would mean that we'd need 4 new players. Ideally I'd like:

1 Techmarine

1 Tactical (as mentioned, Mazer has first refusal here)

1 Assault

1 Devastator

as that would give us 1 of each Specialist, 3 Tacs, 2 Assault and 2 Dev, which should be nicely balanced?

So if anyone is reading this who isn't already part of the game and would like to be, please hit me up with a PM to discuss taking one of the above 4 slots and any character ideas?

Wonderful! Thank you for all the kind words, and I'm so glad everyone (well, still need to hear from AT, so nearly everyone!) wants to continue!

Looking forward to the next game. Odysseus will strive to expand on his box of tricks, perhaps a psychic forcefield for the party...

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Vesalius can do with the Iron Gods' apothecarium (such as it is), and how that will affect the power dynamic at the Crag.

Edit: I would also like to say that I greatly enjoyed the interplay among the characters in our Kill-Team.

Hi all, I've just created a thread to appeal for new players.

In the meantime, everybody has 1500XP to spend! There's no rush, but feel free to edit your sheets and/or post here how you want to spend it?

@Tro: If Mazer would like to bring Orphiel back, I'd be thrilled to have him... but that would definitely be filling one of the new slots rather than pushing Brynjarr out!

I don’t actually know when (or if) he is coming back, others who know him better may know more, I am just being hopeful as I really had fun in his two games and he was a helpful soul.

Anyway, enjoy your GM holiday.

Decided to keep it simple - psy power(force dome), invocation, and basic advance(willpower).

Odysseus now maintains a minor (fettered/half action) personal psychic field when his attention isn't required on other actions, which he can strengthen to protect the group from small arms.

It's a relatively static defense but a potent one when pushed to full power. Ranged attacks and environmental damage only.

Right now I'm thinking Vesalius will take basic advances for perception and ballistic Skill, autosanguine, and another rank in tactics (recon & stealth).

Whatever the next mission is, he'll be looking to lay hands on some stalker bolt rounds and an Astartes grapnel at the minimum. A stalker pattern bolter would be nice, but Iron Gods is not that sort of game. ;)

  • 3 weeks later...

Hello Fraters,

I hope everyone is well?

Just a quick update as we're half way through the month!

So, as mentioned in the other thread, all new player slots are now filled. Two out of four are ready to go, and the other two are making good progress. All but one of our existing players have spent their latest xp, so we're doing good there too. And I've started working out the first few challenges of ep.2!

So, all in all, we should be good to restart as planned in 2 and a bit weeks!

NB. To add to the excitement (hopefully) I'm going to get the new players to hold off from posting their character bios in the IG thread until just before we start on the 3rd!
