Yeah they confirmed it. There are also a lot of credible rumours from Valrak who has seen it.

The question is not wether we're "getting it or not", its "how soon are we getting it"

That’s what I was asking originally then it turned into a question of whether it’s real lol.

 

It was 8 weeks from the army box to the release of the ork codex so if we expect the same with templars September is plausible as say it’s the 25th then the codex would come 20th of November.

 

However gw is unpredictable so until we see it we won’t know

Well they are saying it and the codex are coming soon, I’d certainly not be saying November is soon so I am hoping we get a full reveal Monday for pre orders to be announced the following Sunday

Not going to happen, codex is scheduled for November according to their codex roadmap.

 

Also the hyping for the rumored army box has not kicked in yet…

Definitely weird, they are teasing the champ multiple times but not showing any other new models.

It's like GW is stalling.

Why would they reveal the champ this early before November if not to release a launch box sooner?

Not if you consider all of the previous weeks of teasing and hyping they have been doing before hand up to this point.

Long time BT players are not the target audience. An article like today’s is for people who got into the hobby during a time or with a group that didn’t provide a proper education into how the Eternal Crusade was truly different from the Codex. Any lore article that starts a journey tends to read as simple when looking back on it.

He won't be broken.

The most broken combat characters(e.g. toxin succubus) are made from (unintended) combo of specific WLT/relic/clan traits. EC is a "named" character, has and would have fixed gears option.

the broken thing is their point cost. 

 

And I remember when the ec was a broken unit (back in 5th edition when reroll to hit for each model was a brutal buff)

Honestly say, current EC profile is not bad with humble 80 pts cost. Already reroll everything against characters. And primaris-ize will possibly bring him 1 extra wound and attack.

 

Current EC doesn't see tournaments play, is because he doesn't bring unique utility to your army. If giving him something like "characters in 6 inches have their aura ability shut down", that would be much much more helpful than giving him a better sword.

If we read intentional marketing hype, you mean?  Going by that every unit they produce would be off the charts good.

 

For me... unless they keep the firstborn EC option, I'd be left with either using the older EC models as proxies anyway, a third-party model, or conversion, because frankly the new model isn't particularly great, so that's a pass. In fact I didn't like the previous EC that much either even though I did buy it - the old limited edition one I have is better, as is the sword character from the Imperial Fists Legion Command.
